My partner said, "I thought you were intelligent. Why do you watch this shit"? I made him watch Original Dynasty a few years back, so he's made me watch shows like Real Housewives since then.

Yes, you really have to justify watching this crap, it's the same with me and my boyfriend.
I made him watch complete original Dynasty with me, Dallas, Knots , The Colbys, GOT, Grimm and now "this".
It's really hard to find arguments to continue, when we reach the 44 episodes mark by finishing the 2nd season soon, 10 or 12 good or decent episodes are just not good enough to justify further taking part in this journey. It's getting harder and harder and when i'm forced to say "yeah well, it's just fun shit" ... that's just not me.

Quality wise it's like jumping from original season 7B to season 9 and back, 7B and back. So hard to justify the crap and it's the first time in my life i'm really feeling embarrased for a show i would like to share with my partner... and that's a REALLY bad sign, as we watched all kind of strange stuff together already!
Please get your things together, CW-Dynasty... or just call it a day! You KNOW how to be good! So just BE good! Noone needs or wants your crappy digresses with stupid articles of Fallon in stupid magazines... please, please please wake up!!!! :hair:

the first 3 minutes of this episode totally do away with any sense of tension or, even reality.

You beat me to it. I've just finished watching this episode in the company of a morning coffee. It's clear the writing team don't do due diligence by watching or reading their own material. When we left Motherly Overprotectiveness both Fallon and Blake were at the Carrington mansion. So what was Fallon's first response when entering the hospital? "Oh my GOD, is she okay?" Followed soon thereafter by Blake with, "What the hell happened?"

Can someone correct me if I'm wrong but Alexis resides at the Carrington mansion right? Did Adam quietly put a screaming Alexis on his moped and rush her to the hospital? How was it possible Adam managed to get Alexis off the Carrington estate without Fallon, Blake or a member of staff having prior knowledge?

So after becoming interested in Dynasty with the introduction of Adam and the dark overtones, the writers - once again - have tossed everything aside for slapstick comedy. But just as I became annoyed by the opening scene I was distracted by Fallon's dress and lost consciousness for a while. So kudos to the costume designer.

From here Dynasty fell into type. Nothing actually occurs. Fallon spits venom at Blake. Something about women versus men. At this stage I choked on my vegemite toast. Fallon your speech would mean something if you actually did something. The all powerful Blake Carrington gets a doctor fired. I'm shaking in my boots.

Has anyone else noticed there were no outdoor scenes apart from Cristal's brother sitting outside in his car on his smartphone? This reboot really is cheap. And what is the fixation with Mexico? Hey! Dynasty producers! Another iconic supersoap tried this angle and guess where it ended up after 3 seasons? Cancelled!

There was only one shining star in this episode. Actually make that two. I spotted the name in the opening titles and there was the character standing in the doorway at the end of the episode...Liam.

Adam gives the nurse a photograph that Alexis wants the plastic surgeon to use "as a guide".
But is it really the thoughts of Alexis? My impression from that scene is Adam is pulling the strings here. Did anyone else note his comment on how Alexis looked like Fallon in her youth after gazing at the photograph? He also mentioned to the nurse about shaving a few years off. This series is so cheap it wouldn't surprise me if the producers will have Elizabeth Gillies play both the characters of Fallon and Alexis.

There were subtle hints in this episode showing Adam's odd fixation with his sister and after he kissed her last week I wouldn't put anything past him. Perhaps he gave the nurse a photograph of a youthful Alexis who eerily looks like Fallon of today. Kind of puts a new spin on the Krystal/Rita story right?

Alexis laying there horrifically burned, Fallon not so much as attempting to hug her or ask what happened in any detail? Not wanting to stay and speak to doctors.
I had the same reaction. And when the writers attempt this type of storytelling it reeks of bad penmanship. Some realism really is required here. All the writers had to do was have Alexis in an induced coma. Nothing complicated. This way Fallon could display real emotions rather than a conscious Alexis attempting to communicate with her and Adam arm blocking Fallon.

That is a speech written for original Fallon.
I'll extend that argument and say it belonged in the era of Lorimar Dallas and original Dynasty..when times really were changing. But that speech by new Fallon just felt out of place in this version of Dynasty. If this reboot really told the story of Fallon steering the Carrington Atlantic ship then I could have bought it but so far all I've heard from Fallon is wise cracks, smack downs and playing dress ups. There was no substance in her hollowed speech.

And NO, i did NOT read Alexis' comment before to just join the canon nor was i influenced by any other comment - just to prevent that sort of insinuations.
Interesting how different people, from different parts of the world have a collective mind when it comes to viewing a series like Dynasty. Unfortunately it's the writing team which is tone deaf in this circumstance.

Can't we just go back to Dynasty's season 2 already? :swing:
Do we really have to waste our time with that Shit we wouldn't give a damn about if it wasn't called DYNASTY.

That’s exactly what I wondered too after his comment about Fallon. They could age Liz Gillies via makeup and stick a blonde wig on her - but after a couple of ‘amusing’ weeks where do they go with that?

Adam is up to something though. Some have speculated elsewhere that he may be looking to ‘recreate’ his adoptive mother. It seems somewhat unlikely they would cast somebody as unknown as her. His look was very knowing and the nurse’s reaction was interesting. My money could be on a Fallon-alike somehow. Amy Sutherland who plays the ‘burned’ Alexis mentioned on Facebook she is in the next episode too - interesting, given they were wheeling her off to surgery at the end.

Whatever it is - here’s hoping they can somehow salvage the mess they’ve made of Alexis, and stop making her the joke act.

They just have to go back 2 episodes to realize how nuDynasty should be done. Not that big of a task, is it? :re:

And what about Crystal's miscarriage and Mr. dead guy tortured by Blake? Are they going to mention this yet or those were single-episode plots like Kenny's deaths in South Park?

Yeah, I should have written "...gives the nurse a photograph he claims Alexis wants..."

And yes, the comic idea of Liz Gillies doing a dual role did cross my mind, but I also think he may want them to turn her into the adopted mother that he murdered. The actress in the flashback did have similar features to Alexis (though obviously "made-down" to look ill and strung-out).

As for the Jeff connection, it would make sense that Jeff might realize Adam is making too many decisions that are not in Alexis's best interests, so he would covertly show up at the hospital with a plan: marry her, then immediately assume power of attorney and conservatorship. That would have to be done pretty soon, though, because I can't help but think Adam is hoping (planning?) for her not to recover from surgery. Jeff then dying at Adam's hand would make sense. Instead of poisoned paint, perhaps Adam could make sure one of Jeff's bizarre suits is soaked in one of those poisons that absorbs slowly through skin contact.

After Jeff's rather touching scene with Alexis in the hospital, I'm suddenly hoping that the character isn't killed off. But I know, we all know Alexis is supposed marry a "powerful man who will expire." But that doesn't necessarily mean it has to be Jeff... what about...

Cristal's father? Obviously he seems rather powerful, and if he died it would mean Cristal wouldn't have to worry about him coming after the Carringtons... but there would still be some major awkwardness now that Alexis is Cristal's step-mommy, and now the sole owner of Cristal's family's money.

I’d rather watch Peggy Bundy beeing pregnant in S5 of "Married with children"...

Here's a justification: tell him you want to see how bad this show gets. :D

I'm wondering if maybe it's someone from Adam's past, maybe some milf he used to be obsessed with. So Alexis ends up looking like this woman, who then shows up at some point, giving us an Alexis on Alexis catfight.
