Season One Question

In one of the early episodes of season one, Angela and Lance visit a woman who uses a wheelchair because of a hit-and-run accident or similar when she was young. I seem to remember an implication that Angela might have been involved in the accident, but my memories are very vague. Can anyone recall what the storyline was?

It was a woman named Elizabeth Bradbury, who appeared in the season 1 episode “For Love Or Money”. She was paralyzed in some sort of accident. I think it turned out that Angela had helped orchestrate the accident or was partly responsible, unknown to the woman. So Angela supported her.

Was that the one directed by Fernando Lamas, where Chase and Maggie find the mysterious room "buried" behind their bed? (FC could do quietly resonant stuff like that early on so nicely).

Yes, I believe so. In that room, Chase finds his father’s diaries which seem to implicate Angela in the accident. Chase confronts Angela and she plays a tape of Jason talking that makes it sound like he has written off his son. An upset Chase leaves, and then Angela plays the rest of the tape, which reveals that Jason loved his son and wanted to reconcile.

Jason was dating Elizabeth before Jacqueline. In an automobile accident, Elizabeth was severely injured and became confined to a wheelchair. The car was driven by Angela, but it was a hit and run. Angela never told Elizabeth she was responsible. Elizabeth believed it was generosity and friendship that caused both Jasper to pay for her hospital bills and Angela to visit her once a week. Jason put two and two together and was never able to face Elizabeth again.
