Should Matthew have been a "Count of Monte Cristo" type?

It occurred to me, what if Matthew Blaisdel's return played out more like "The Count of Monte Cristo", where he's more of a behind-the-scenes type of villain during Season 8, slowly picking away at the Carrington family in order to get revenge on Blake, not caring who he has to step on, not even the Carringtons who never even met him (ie, Adam and Amanda).

I came up with this idea because I loved imagining a scene towards maybe the middle of Season 8 between Matthew and Krystle that's very much like the scene where Mercedes goes to the Count in secret, looks him dead in the eye, and says, "Edmund, you will not kill my son."

Imagine Krystle saying that, but more along the lines of, "Matthew, you will not hurt my children." At this point in the series, Krystle has come to view her stepchildren as her own, and not only that, but if it were up to me, Krystle would have become sort of like a Mafia Queen at this point: she is still a loving and protective mother figure, but she has also learned to be ruthless and cutthroat and will do so in order to protect the people she loves - especially her children. Remember how in Season 7, right before the Singapore fiasco, Krystle informed brother-in-law Ben that, if he did anything to Blake, she would make certain that Ben would be locked up *for good* - and Ben knew in that moment it was wise to fear her. I want more of THAT Krystle, please!

Matter of fact, we could even have this confrontation between Krystle and Matthew on that very same hill from the pilot episode, which would be a great way to show just how far each of them have come in this world:

Monte Cristo ...... Is there a Mount Krystle near Denver? It sounds inappropriate.
