RIP Sir Patrick, I learned to love "Star Trek" thanks to his captain Picard and "The Next Generation". Now I´ve seen them all (except the original one, which I´ll start one of these days).

I've never seen a Star Trek (-related) story or episode. Perhaps the time has come to take a peek.
How do you watch the episodes, streaming or DVDs?

I had never heard of Paramount plus, only Disney+

The old television we grew up with - with only one subscription/licence - suddenly feels very luxurious and all-inclusive.

This news surprised me. Somehow I just assumed he'd live forever. I suppose his signature shaved head look staying essentially the same for all these decades made it easy to forget that he was actually ageing.

I've only watched a little of TNG, but the role was iconic enough for me to know his name back in the Eighties. Even then, he was fan favourite to play Charles Xavier, so it was exciting when that came to fruition many years later... and yes - he was the perfect casting.

"Patrick was very kind and welcoming when I guest starred on Star Trek. He was a delight to work with.
Another soul of a generation of hugely experienced stage actors who then enjoyed fame on film and television and could hardly believe their good fortune.
RIP great actor. I’m sad today."
