Considering I've had the theme song to THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR stuck on an endless loop inside my head the past few days, I figured I'd start a discussion here about the show itself. As a side note, I must admit that the show's theme songs is one of the best and most recognized theme songs in the history of TV.

The series stars singer-actor Will Smith in a fictionalized, sitcom version of himself. Will is sent by his mother, Vy (Vernee Watson-Johnson), away from his troublesome ways in West Philadelphia to live with his relatives in Bel-Air. There, Will is taken in by his mom's sister, Vivian (Janet Hubert-Whitten, later Daphne Maxwell Reid), and her husband, attorney Philip Banks (James Avery). Also living in the Banks' mansion is their three children: Hilary (Karyn Parsons), Carlton (Alfonso Ribeiro), and Ashley (Tatyana M. Ali), as well as the family's live-in butler, Geoffrey (Joseph Marcell). Philip and Vivian later have another son, named Nicky, who is born in Season 3.

The successful series aired on NBC for six seasons, from September 10, 1990 to May 20, 1996, totaling 148 episodes. It has achieved continued popularity in syndication, through physical media releases, and has also spawned a reimagined series, BEL-AIR, which aired for four seasons on Peacock.

Any fans of the show?

Even though this was very much of my generation, I didn't come to really appreciate it till Nick at Nite in like 2007? Crazy to think that's the same way I discovered another favorite that was before my time, 14 years earlier, the Mary Tyler Moore Show.

It's been a minute since I've seen Fresh Prince. I'm tempted now to see if I can stream it somewhere. Good show. I think it held up relatively well over the years.

I believe it's currently on Hulu.
