Check out this CBS promo for DALLAS & FALCON CREST, in the mid eighties. This junction in the two series resulted in a turning point, for both shows. More so for DALLAS, as an all important character said his goodbyes. The next season of FALCON CREST i.e. five was not as gothic, with a lot of variety i.e. the focus wasn't on one particular guest star or story arc. You know it was hard to keep up! Season 7 was similar, in this respect.

Angela is having breakfast alone. Chao-Li appears from the kitchen; with a tray; (a scene from season 4, 1984 - '85):

Angela: "Chao-Li what have you got there?"

Chao-Li: "Lance and Emma requested breakfast, in their rooms."

Angela: "Put that right down! Tell Lance and Emma if they want to eat they can come down here and join me!"

Chao-Li: "Yes Mrs. Channing!"

The front door bell chimes. Angela goes to see who is there. The Channing's new neighbour German cartel honcho Gustav Riebmann is standing holding a bunch of yellow roses. Gustav has an alias Jean-Louis deBercy (a French real estate business owner), who everybody believes he is.

deBercy: "Ah Mrs. Channing!"

Angela: "What are you doing here?"

deBercy: "I was hoping to have a word, with Emma."

Angela: "Well you may not! I don't like you deBercy and I don't want to see you, around here anymore!"

deBercy: "I'm sorry you feel that way! Will you see she gets these please?"

Angela snaps the yellow roses from him and slams the door.

Chao-Li: "Did I hear someone, at the door?"

Angela: "No!"

Angela hands him the flowers: "Get those in the trash!"

Chao-Li looks at them, as Angela returns to her breakfast.

Another aspect of the two shows at this time was the growing number of relatives. I think the Ewing cousins stayed for a few seasons in Dallas but the new characters related to the main Falcon Crest people were only there for a season or part of. Then Francesca, Lorraine, Charlotte, Maggie's adoptive father and Joel were never spoke about again.
