Titans

The episodes are gone now. Does anyone have them/know whether they're on a different private playlist?

The first three episodes are on YouTube but I think that's all that's available in full now. There is another channel with edited down videos featuring all of John Barrowman's scenes from the series.
Actually, the whole thing is online again. Including for the first time (I think), the full original pilot starring Priscilla Garita as Samantha, before the role was recast with Lourdes Benedicto.

I've done a quick skim of the pilot and the first episode that actually aired to see if there were any big differences and interestingly (to me at least :)) Priscilla Garita can be spotted in a couple of blink and you'll miss her wedding scenes in the first episode where Lourdes took over the role of Samantha.

From the previews I think the 4th and 5th episodes in the playlist are mixed up.
I'm not that far in but so far I like it although I feel like the two sisters and the club are surplus to demand, they're boring compared to the other characters.
Yasmine Bleeth looks so much like Michelle Trachtenberg in my head, I really had to go and look up that it wasn't her playing Heather.

I guess I should do a re-watch to spot how many scenes Yasmine Bleeth is obviously on coke. The hollandaise sauce scene sticks out in my mind.

Yeah, you can tell because somebody who is very much dead at the end of "episode 4" is very much alive in "episode 5". If these are the same copies as the ones that were online previously, there might be some audio issues with the later episodes that didn't air in the US (the ones recorded from Sky One).

It's been a long time since I watched it but I do recall the sister's arc being my least favourite part. They should've gone full Beverly Hills party girl tranwreck with Jenny to add a bit more edge to them. I mean, even in the pre-Paris Hilton/Kardashian days, I'm sure there was enough inspiration around Hollywood to draw from. Again, it's been a while since I watched and I know ownership of hotels was part of one later plot but I think a hotel would have made a much better work setting for Gwen and the sisters than the club. Much more opportunities there for things like swimming pool catfights with your ex-husband's widow and showdowns in reception. I think the club was an attempt (albeit not a great one) to attract younger viewers as I recall them promoting who their musical guests would be on the website.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if the club set was a recycled one from either 90210's Peach Pit: After Dark or Adam's club set in Models Inc / Ben's club set in Sunset Beach. I'm sure it might be either of those. I think he might've also used it in Malibu Shores, but it's been a while since I watched that so I'm not sure.

About halfway through now. I could do with more Ethan and less Jenny and Laurie if we're going for a secondary story. It's funny though because they set up Ethan's introduction as if he was going to be a huge troublemaker but so far he's been a teenage boy and that's pretty much it. There could be more coming but so far I actually find him more human and interesting than either sister, they're just so dull to me. Their business drama is stupid, like why wouldn't a band have a contract to play there? And neither seem to have any actual problems running the business. And their personal drama feels contrived and silly, there's more than this one alcoholic to pine over.
I'm sure we're supposed to find Peter a love to hate him character but I just really like him, he's JR lite (very lite lol).
I read here a comment about
Richard's death
so I knew it was coming but it was way too soon for the story. The drama was just about to get going and then doesn't end up needing to.
In saying that, I've been struggling to understand what the actual drama was between father and son from the beginning. Chandler met Heather free and clear, we don't know (yet?) how Richard met Heather, whether she manipulated it or not. Chandler comes back to town, he and Heather see each other again, they now share a secret. Chandler wanted to tell, Heather asked him not to. At this point Chandler has little/nothing to lose by coming clean. Time moves on, Heather marries Richard, another secret is revealed between Chandler/Heather and her true personality is now very obvious. Again, Chandler wouldn't lose anything by telling the truth. Richard would have hurt feelings but Chandler is not to blame until the secret is hidden for months and months, then he becomes to blame. To play along with keeping the secret is all risk and no reward for Chandler, it feels stupid. His father loves him and is very proud, there might be some coldness but in the end the relationship would have stayed and Heather would have been long gone (or not seeing as she was with child).

I think one of the biggest issues with Titans is that they just didn't know what to do with Heather - she's really unlikeable and goes in for that usurper role. Fine. But it doesn't work. Heather should've been the outsider, even if she was a gold-digger she should've been sympathetic enough for the audience to root for her.

Exactly. They were really pushing her as a schemer but without any great motive. I think they threw in the wedding aisle revelation as it sounds juicy but realistically what had she got to gain by telling Chandler. She'd hit the paydirt by marrying Richard. If she was a true gold digger, why jeopardize that almost immediately by toying with the son. It was all very one dimensional "I am a bitch" type writing.

Having the other family members gradually discover her true colours across the season and try to depose her while she schemes to hang on to Richard would've made for much more interesting viewing.

Honestly there are lines that would fit into Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman:

"I guess I'm just depressed... you know, after losing the baby and Richard."

Except it isn't a joke. Or is it?

The writers realized their mistake with Heather in the very last episodes where they introduced someone from a past who abused her when she was a teenager. I guess they wanted to sympathize with her.

Honestly, the last episodes are kind of... weird. They have a dreamlike quality which is how the show should've been done in the first place.

It's been a long time since watching but I thought the last episodes were hinting at what Heather's motivation might be. Of course I may be giving way too much credit.

I don't remember detail but there was something about her going by a different name and what happened to her parents...I also felt there had to be something more to do with the fact that Chandler was adopted and they took great pains to make that clear. I wondered if ultimately it was to avoid any incest implications and whether she might have been some long lost relative of Gwen's or something.

I've watched a bit further now. Almost at the end.
They needed to go all the way with Jenny's addiction. Have her die in the pool, have that be the death that hangs over the family in a tragic addition to Richard.
The miscarriage was predictable, I felt it coming as soon as they refused to make Heather even look remotely pregnant, it's easier to do away with a plot like that in early pregnancy which surely she wasn't in anymore so far into the show.
Heather is flip floppy as everyone has said above. Her motives are unclear. She could have easily slid into being rich by default as a widow named in the will + playing her part at work and making relationships. No one is going after the girls and their club like they do the air division, the hotels or whatever it is Peter does.

Weird is exactly how I'd describe these. I don't know if it's the literal video quality or the performances but something feels strangely different towards the end. I also kind of hate the random nightmares and secret identity they gave Heather. If she wasn't having nightmares all season what made her have them now? And if she's running you'd think marrying into a family that makes newspaper headlines would be the worst decision to make.
Gwen and Jack went nowhere.
Peter and Samantha started to go somewhere but I really didn't like the stuff with Ricardo Montalbán and the wedding plans.
Jenny is immature and has no coping skills and the rest of the family just tiptoes around her dealing with it, it gets annoying after a while. Also, the storyline of "they were going to film the band's live show and put it on the internet" is so dated it's laughable now.
I didn't dislike the show, in fact I enjoyed the binge watch, I just think there could have been a lot tighter storylines they'd gone with in the end.
