What does she know about the workings of the NHS? At least as much, if not more than the people who voted for a Tory government
How could you possibly know what she comprehends about the workings of the NHS and how the branch of government responsible for delivery of service executes their duty? Can you prove that she knows more than the all the people that voted Tory. How could you possibly know the motivations of of anyone who voted Tory and what they knew and if the care about the NHS?

As far back as can recall there has always been a shortage of doctors et cetera, that's not a recent thing. If our woman here really cared about the NHS she should got off her sofa and become an oncologist. I'm absolutely sure another competent oncologist working in the NHS would be welcome. But pumping out to the MP was the best she had to offer and done. How did that help, did it magic up a new MRI scanner? She is the embodiment of the challenges that the NHS face.

She could have volunteered to become a concubine and placed one last smile on the faces of the elderly left abandoned on the floor, to wait for the deity of their choice to return them to paradise...but the shouty lady couldn't even sling professional love to the forgotten .... on the floor.... missing tile.... no brass!

Yes, because everything she said can be backed up by facts. People who voted Tory voted for the NHS to be run down and for that reason I can't respect their intelligence, grasp of the facts or their sense of social responsibility.

To everyone who voted Conservative in the past, thank you for voting to sell of the energy industry to Tory Party donors and institutional investors so they can pay themselves billions in dividends while our energy bills soar. Since 2010, energy companies have handed shareholders £200 billion, money which could have been used to help the poorest in society instead of going to some of the richest. Experts are now forecasting that people will die because of the planned increases in household energy prices so I hope those who voted Conservative are proud of themselves.

I know that Nicola Sturgeon has said that renationalising the energy companies is an option that should at the very least be on the table for dealing with the current energy crisis.

Yet another reason for voting SNP if you live in Scotland.

She's right. Even fellow Scot Gordon Brown said renationalisation should happen if energy companies can't lower bills, although he said that should only be a temporary solution.

I think taking them back into public ownership is the only realistic long term option so profits are not given away in dividends but instead are used to keep bills down.

If the opportunity to speak to the MP that hold the office in question, what would you have said. What practical, reasonable and affordable changes to help the NHS would you have suggested to him?

I'd say closed down IVF services, botched plastic surgery done privately for asthenic reason are not the concern of the taxpayers, raise taxes and cut benefits to levels that people are forced to pay for there children, not the taxpayer, wonder drugs that have not been clinically assessed as to the benefit against the usually eye watering cost and then peer reviewed are a flat no even though little Jimmy parents read up about them on the internet and expect the NHS to fund the unproven Juju magic to the tune of £1K, £20 £100K to give Jimmy an extra 2 month. Everyone get one bite at the cherry, if a person being cared for by the NHS is violent, abusive, racist in any fashion, then done and good bye forever, get out even if they have uncontrolled rectal bleeding, If someone fails twice to keep a hospital, fine them the cost for the third and any further failures to attend without reasonable grounds. Surly the saving would be useful.

The cost of IVF and treating patients who have had botched cosmetic surgery is less than 0.01% of the NHS budget and would do little to fix the decline in ambulance services.

If I had time with the secretary of state for health I would suggest the following:

1. Abolish the Tory National Insurance rise and instead increase the basic rate of income tax by 1p which would be a fairer was of raising money. Use money raised to improve social care to relieve pressure on the NHS.

2. Sue Dido Harding and the other Tory cronies for the £37 billion that they wasted on test and trace. Seize their assets to recoup as much of the money as possible.

3.Ditto for Tory Baroness Michelle Mone and other Tory cronies who ripped off tax payers for billions for unusable and overpriced PPE.

4. Money raised from 2 and 3 used to repair dilapidated hospitals.

5. Give health and social care workers a pay increase in line with inflation to stem the huge numbers who are leaving the profession every year. Funded by raising taxes on the highest earners.

6. Allow health authorities to recruit more doctors and nurses from overseas.

7. Invest in training more home grown doctors and nurses.

8. Reverse the use of private health suppliers in the NHS so money isn't paid out to fund dividends to their shareholders

9. Deal with health inequalities to ensure that black, Asian and other minority ethnic patients have outcomes as good as those seen for white patients. Ditto for LGBT+ patients.

10. Reverse Tory cuts to mental health services.

Where is the figure of 0.01% from and how was that sum reached.

IVF is not a medical need and it's outrageous that I have to fund that unnecessary expense. There are countless children in need of a safe and nurturing place to call home. The adoption options should be their only course of action otherwise they pay for the IVF.

Putting right someone's vanity is not a medical need. The NHS should not be doing it.

Everything else you suggested is a fantasy. The woman who accosted the MP was an empty vessel that has believes her dealings with the service are a true and accurate reflection of everyone's experience with the service. Her perceptions and understanding is deluded.

People die in ambulances and in space. I don't think that the person that died in any ambulance has a death certificate that states Couse of death "no ambulance because the public returned a Tory government in a free and fair elections"

The ones that denounce the government should have a whip round a buy a all the ambulances that they have assessed as needed and all the support infrastructure required.

It's common sense, I estimated the figure. The NHS spends about £50 million on IVF per year and the NHS annual budget is around £100 billion. That means IVF is 0.0005% of the NHS budget. So your plan wouldn't even touch the sides. The woman who challenged the secretary of state for health, not only knew who he was (because you don't seem to) but understands the problem better than you seen to.

My suggestions aren't fantasy, they are necessary,, practical and costed.

People who chose to ignore facts and the lived experiences of real people do so because they don't want to face the truth that it's right wing policies that has been responsible for the absolute mess that the country is in on so many fronts.

That is to conversation the "heroic" lady should have had.

The points your raised from #6 to #9 I couldn't agree more. I couldn't agree more and done!
Point #10.... I'm not convinced that "Tory cuts to mental health services" is the be all and end all. During the Labour administration there were cuts. That was the snappy headline and continues to be so. The logistics of how the service is provided has changed, in my hometown then MH hospital was closed under John Major, and the boarded up. The building was trumpeted as evidence of Tory cuts. The build was in public view, the MH nurses and doctors et al tending to their patients in their home was invisible. The concept being that people suffering from MH issues were less distressed in the home environment, make sense, funding was increased. But the Victorian era boarded up building slowly decaying was what people saw and jumped to conclusions that the Tory cabinet didn't care, didn't fund, didn't want to know,

Points #1 to #4... I'm not buy the validity of the claims of financial misconduct. The raise in NI contributions is negligible, and for the greater good.
As for the level of pay of health care workers. that's a broad term and covers everyone from brain surgeons to porters pushing bed around, The brain surgeon has attained a level of knowledge and skill through years of study and training and applying herself to get where she is, her pay should reflect that level of achievement. Pushing someone around in a wheelchair, taking an X-ray by pressing a button, taking a blood pressure reading and so on... What is that skill level worth?

Blaming the Tory government all the ills of the NHS.... I'm not seeing that. There is room for improvement all day long, But peoples deluded ideas of what to expect married up to their ridicules sense of entitlement... that is something that needs to be addressed.

John Major's care in the community programme was a £100 billion failure. Not just my opinion but that of former Tory leader Iain Duncan Smith. Closing mental health hospitals was meant to save money but the knock on effects of the policy through higher general health and social care costs, lost working days and family breakdown was estimated to cost the country £105 billion.

NI contributions are only paid by workers and people who generate income through investments do not pay it. Raising income tax by an equivalent amount would be fairer as a wider group of people would be eligible to pay it. However, Tories always protect their donors and the rich, many of whom get income through share dividends and property portfolios.

The corruption and fleecing of taxpayers by the Tories has been carried out on an industrial scale and was found to be illegal by the High Court. We haven't got our money back though.

If you think the money has been well
spent, maybe you can explain where the £37 billion that Tory crony Dido Harding (personal friend of Matt Hancock and wife of Tory MP) was given to set up a test and trace system went and why you think we got value for money?

The Tories have been in government for 70% of the last quarter century, of course they are to blame.

When you receive high energy bills this autumn and winter, don't forget to thank the people who voted Conservative for inflicting this harm on you. The lying Tories will try to convince you that it is all down to Ukraine and International markets but the situation has been made far worse in the UK by the government's denationalisation of the energy companies, putting green taxes on energy bills instead of general taxation and it's failure to do anything adequate to alleviate the cost to ordinary people.

Angela, you're killing me here! I'm just a humble sinner (now reformed, again) from a ghetto. A ghetto with a Tory MP, a Tory ran council. in a Tory ran county. Kick some love my way, as at this moment I thinking that I'll soon be sent to paradise by you... ya know, to hang out and smoke mics with other Biggie. (What I'm actually saying there is that I'm loving your work, for real)

In every government there is always sharp practice and corruption. That's nothing new. Has the High Court ruling been challenged in appeal?

If £37 Billon was found to fund Test and Trace, that speaks of shrouded financial management. I don't see how friendships and spouses would have made a meaningful difference. There is independent oversight at work behind the scenes.

NI contributions are taken from earnings, and not investments. Anyone can set up investment to proved an income to their household. Anyone can own shares, anyone can seek advise on how to pay less or avoid (legally) paying taxes. Not just TV stars.

Labour under Blair and Brown also took steps to protect their doners, the unions, oligarchs and so on. The current administrations is working within the norms that we don't understand.

The last quarter century that saw were 70% Tory government... ok. During their in power, what external factors beyond their influence but with tangible effects on society's everything came their way. Did Labour and the Lib Dems choose to obstructive to discredit the Tories hoping to gain votes?

There were no grounds for appeal, the Tory Government knew they were shafting taxpayers.

Matt Hancock, when he was health secretary, in between committing adultery he appointed his close friend and the wife of a Tory MP, Dido Harding, to a job without considering any other candidates. She was completely unqualified, had no prior experience in the field and was totally unsuited to the role. She then burned through money like it was waste paper, giving it at fellow Tories with no real oversight as to what they were doing with the cash. After £37 billion was spent we still didn't have a workable test and trace system. It is a total scandal and the public were right royally ripped off by the Tories.

NI contributions are taken from earnings, and not investments. Anyone can set up investment to proved an income to their household. Anyone can own shares, anyone can seek advise on how to pay less or avoid (legally) paying taxes. Not just TV stars.
No, NI contributions are taken from earning of employed people only, not from earnings from other sources. People who are not employed do not pay National Insurance but pay other taxes (capital gains tax) on their investments and income tax on other forms of income. Increasing NI contributions is inherently unfair because it doesn't tax a large section of the public who have significant income. Raising income and capital gains tax would be fairer than raising NI contributions, however, many rich Tories do not pay National Insurance so that's why the Government took this approach.

Labour under Blair and Brown also took steps to protect their doners, the unions, oligarchs and so on. The current administrations is working within the norms that we don't understand.
But they didn't, I wish they had. None of the Tory anti-union legislation was overturned by the Blair/Brown government. The current admistration is working within norms that most people understand, it's called corruption.

The last quarter century that saw were 70% Tory government... ok. During their in power, what external factors beyond their influence but with tangible effects on society's everything came their way. Did Labour and the Lib Dems choose to obstructive to discredit the Tories hoping to gain votes?
For 5 years of that period the LibDems were in Government with the Tories and the inflicted a series on wicked policies on the UK together.

If you voted Tory at the last few elections, thank you for fewer crimes being detected and for the fall in the number of criminals being charged with their crimes. This has been caused by the austerity cuts you voted for so you must be proud that your government carried out the policies you voted for. Don't worry about the old lady who was mugged, the woman that was assaulted or the family whose home was burgled, you got exactly what you voted for so you must be pleased with your work.

The austerity cuts were as a result of the previous Labour administration's "light touch regulatory oversight and governance" or whatever snappy sounding phrase they used, but I do recall that being trumpeted as best practice for fiscal policy, public and private sectors. Then along came the credit crunch fiasco and public money was used to prop up private institutions. When Tory/Lib Dem's and then the Tory's came into power the coffers were empty.

Fewer crimes being detected is often a statistical product (can't think of a better way to phrase it), as new offences and added to the statute and the way that offences are recorded and cataloged.... so I understand.... If someone cuts off your bicycle chain and padlock, and steals your bike, now that's one offence of criminal damage (the chain) and one offence of theft (the bike). Once upon a time it was counted as one crime. Theft. Lies, damn lies, statistics.

Women getting mugged, women getting assaulted.... men and boys are overwhelmingly the victims of crime, especially violent and homicidal crime. The police are well funded, and their priority should be the safeguarding of men and boys. The police charge suspected offenders but it's the CPS that make the final decision if there will be a prosecution

The police service needs to be reformed on all levels and dragged into the common era and made to comprehend that they are here to police equally and fairly across the board. Police chiefs blaming Tory cuts.... Child Q, Charing Cross, Mark Duggan, Stephen Lawrence, Rachel Nicholl, Bianca Williams and Cressida Dick. Tory cuts to blame?

The number of police officers had fallen by 11% due to Tory austerity. Crime has increased and the solving of criminal cases has fallen too. Also significantly, the number of experienced officers that left the police because of austerity (early retirement and other reasons) means that currently a third of police officers have been in the job for less than 3 years. Lack of police officers and a lack of police experience is the reason for the drop in crime detection. This wasn't caused by light touch anything, it was Tory cuts.

To blame Labour for anything after the Tories have been in power for 12 years begs the question why the hell are in government if they have done nothing in all that time.

Every crime metric shows the same rise, including those that use exactly the same methodology of 12 years ago when Labour was in power.
