I nearly fell asleep watching the England game last night

Something has to change and fast!

Bring on Mainoo, Palmer, Gordon, Eze, give Ivan Toney a run on the pitch

Bellingham hasnt impressed! leave Trippier out and never thought id say it but come back Harry McGuire and bet Rashford and Grealish are watching at home thinking i could do better! Time for a change Gareth! Wont progress playing defensive dull football like that!

England have been very mediocre but finished top of their group and only conceded one goal and there is scope for improvement. Maybe Gareth Southgate has been playing cautiously, just doing enough to qualify for the knockout round but now he needs to make some changes to the team he picks and the tactics they play.

I would like to see Cole Palmer start a match on the right, Phil Foden should be given a central midfield place instead of being on the left, and Gordon replace him on the left. Bellingham should play further back alongside Rice and the team should play a more aggressive and pressing game. Saka who I love as a player should be dropped to the bench.

I wouldn't worry yet, @Barbara Fan - England is on the easy side on the knockout rounds. They only have to play decent to reach the final. First, an easy match against Slovakia. Then they have to do a fairly good game against Switzerland or Italy, but neither one of those teams have that big edge to win, I think. So it will likely be England vs Austria or any other B-team in the semi-final.

It's the other side of the knockout round that has all the buzz. How on earth will that end????? France should have much more to give than they have showed so far. Portugal today against Georgia doesn't count, they hardly even tried to play football. Spain didn't lose a single point. Germany is much better than in recent 6 years, plus have the home advantage. Belgium is never to be counted out, they can do much better than what they've shown so far. I don't even dare guess if Portugal, France, Spain or Germany will reach the final.

Go Georgia!! What a wonderful match and to beat Portugal 2-0

They played their hearts out and went for every ball and shock horror, passed it forwards!

I was delighted for the team and their fans, good luck to them in the knockout stages

Surprised at how boring Belgium were !

England have what can only be considered to be a favourable draw.

The worst part is playing Italy in the QFs - if they get past Slovakia. If they beat Italy you'd expect them to beat Romania, Netherlands, Austria or Türkiye in the semi-final, then the real test would of course come from Portugal, Spain, Germany or France in the final. (Assuming of course those teams win, it's the euros so there could be surprises).

England somehow secure a spot in the Quarter Finals after an abysmal 90 minutes, goal in stoppage time to take it to extra time and a goal in extra time sees them through to play Switzerland.

Spain is the only team that has impressed throughout, so far. But that means nothing, since trends can easily be broken. Some teams that begins a tournament weak can gain strenght with each round, and vice versa.

I'm not a big football watcher but I'm looking forward to the France and Portugal match, hopefully my favourite team France will win of course.

France did great with the shoot outs! But still, they have not scored a single goal that wasn't a penalty or the opponant's own goal. I think Spain will beat France in their semi-final.

I agree, i think France was not realy strong this year on the European Championship i have seen them doing much better but at least they won from Portugal, and yes i think France will have to do much better if they want to beat Spain but i'm affraid they gonne loose next time with the semi final.

I rather wanted Portugal to win as I like their Man City, Utd and Liverpool players - not sure how you get to the semis without scoring a proper goal but hey ho!

But so much over acting in the games, in general - when they go down, injured then the replay shows contact was no where near them, its embarassing

I felt for Pepe last night, he was 41 and brilliant- but not sure why Ronaldo and his ego were on the pitch - he did little - and hate when teams go out in penalty shoot outs

16 year old Yamal, what a bright future he has ahead of him

Go England

and just because its my fav football song - a blast from 1990!

I'm glad one of my favourite teams will be in the final. France or Spain. I think it will be Spain.

And although I can't be thrilled when a team is beaten out in a penalty shoot-out, I am at least a little happy that Portugal is out. I am not a fan of Italy, Portugal and England (sorry, fans of these three, no offence).

England's ability to remain in the tournament despite generally poor performances is something to behold.

similar to France who havent scored "proper goals" only penaltys

its been a bit dull this tournament - i have loved watching teams like Georgia and Turkey who have played their hearts out.

I hate when games are decided on Penalty shoot outs - its so hard for the one who misses

so glad that England won the penalty shoot out and chuffed for Saka - just love him and how cool was Ivan Toney - he didnt even look at the ball

Spain deserved to reach the final, although I like France better. Well, two of my favourite players are French. Hernandez & Giroud.

And it's England who will face off against Spain. It's England's first major tournament final on foreign soil.

A chance to make up for what happened in 2021 or another missed opportunity?

I take back all my criticisms about Gareth Southgate's team selections and tactics. You can't argue with success. England's men team have only ever won a major tournament under a Labour government so the omens are good for Sunday.
