Unrealistic Things In Dallas Obviously Created Just For The Sake Of Conflict

I've got one!

With zero political experience and a very short campaign, Bobby just becomes a senator out of nowhere....Then, all of a sudden, he's not a senator anymore.... totally unrealistic just to amp up all the family drama surrounding Takapa!
Yes that was awful. I mean them choosing Bobby Ewing over Cliff Barnes who they worked with for years and who carried the water for them was unrealistic as well. Bobby did have name ID but that was it.

Cliff was the only logical choice to run for Dave Culver's state senate seat.

Holly Harwood storyline. We were suppose to believe that the people who helped her father run Harwood Oil are not there to help Holly run the company. Also her trusting JR completely and giving him a large chunk of shares in her company and not doing any research on him plus her not knowing who JR Ewing was or heard of Ewing Oil.

Rebecca bringing Cliff into her husband's company and him acting like he knew anything. They helped her husband run the company for decades and did not need Cliff's viewpoints.

The Cartel ever doing business with JR after he screwed them over in the the Asian Oil Wells.

When Cliff was the head of the OLM and was close to destroying Ewing Oil, there was this groundswell for him to run for Congress. First, the law on the show was stupid. It said that he would have to resign as head of the OLM if he ran for Congress which is dumb. It would make sense for the person to resign if he was elected to Congress not merely running for it. Cliff should have seen this as an obvious setup.

1. A bunch of rich people that couldn’t stand one another living under the same roof.

2. Everyone seems to come into money.
Also, The Ewings want someone in their home whose father and brother bad mouths them. And from Pamela's pov, why would she want to live in the house of the man who she grew up hearing had cheated her father out of his share of an oil strike and watched at Jock verbally trashed Digger at the Ewing BBQ.

Why would Digger and Cliff wish to ever step foot on Southfork as well.

It was great to see the only scene of Jock and Digger having a conversation.

I believe there is a lake in the opening credits, but I don't believe that Dallas has a fresh water lake within the city

"The City of Dallas area gets its water from six man-made reservoirs mainly in the east and north of the city: Lake Ray Hubbard. Lake Lewisville, Lake Grapevine, Lake Ray Roberts, Lake Tawakoni, and Lake Fork. There are also plans to address increased water consumption by using water in Lake Palestine to the south."

In the Dream Season (1985-1986) which I saw again recently.Bobby's old mate turns up from foreign parts, and of course hears the news late that Bobby is "dead".We believe for ages he's one of the good guys. Then find out he is in the pay of JR and the Diamond mines is just a hoax to get Pam out of the way.Again another plot device put there just to fill up some Episode. He expresses some guilt over it later betraying Bobby and Pam but too little too late in my view.

Jock's will - it would have been impossible to split a company like Ewing Oil as per the will
It is partially why I never cared for season 6, as much as some of the others.
It would have made more sense for Rebecca to seek revenge against Ewing Oil, with Pam caught in the middle
It was a good season, but there were too many such unrealistic conflicts.
It never made sense to me that Katherine didn't inherit the controlling interest in the company
Did Ellie really believe that selling Ewing Oil would end all the rivalry?
JR and Bobby would have been rivals for either new companies, interactions with Weststar, control of Southfork
or something else entirely
Ray never seemed to believe that Bobby had any responsibility for subsequent events.
I get that he didn't like JR, but as JR pointed out (correctly), no one was without responsibility
Pam blaming Bobby and Clayton blaming JR for Rebecca's fate was ludicrous
If anyone was responsible, it was Cliff. Katherine had a point

In season 6, I think characters and plots were well written within implausible scenarios

Season 4, Lesley Stewart - yuk. JR never would have chosen her. She was no Mandy Winger, and JR didn't choose her, ultimately

The dream season - basically the entire season

And in season 12, the JR that we all knew would have sought revenge against Hayleyville.
When JR was finished, there would be nothing left standing.

So many more
