Long Lashes

Telly Talk Enforcer
Hi DFF, so sorry I left you again (or maybe you didn't notice?..Lol) We went to Scotland the week before last, it was school holidays here and then this last week has been so hectic with different things.

I think glue is a great idea for this thread! Actually there are a few threads on this site I wish we could glue to page one now that I think about it.
At least I didn't find this thread on page two this time.

And maybe a few people over on the Dallas threads that we can glue to page 5 while we’re at it.

(Just kidding, just kidding)

LOL!!! I do know some people that will freak out with spiders too. I guess I can understand that because you definitely don’t want to get bitten by one and have to start running around in a red suit and mask the rest of your life Lashes.
How are you with bee's? I am very fond of bee's, but again they're something which can make people freak out.

Now lizards are a different thing. Those I chase down until I get them out of the house. I won’t kill them but I’ll send them back outside. I’m just not a reptile person.
This all sounds so exotic :D I can't imagine having naughty lizards invading the house.

The hardest part was now what do I do with the rest of my life? I only knew how to do one thing so it felt like my life was over at the time but I know now that it wasn’t. It’s never over. It’s never as bad as we think. My journey just changed, that’s all. I grieved, mostly privately. And maybe that was a mistake cause holding in all that hurt and anger wasn’t good.
It can be hard to let others in when we are hurting, I know we should, but its not always easy to share it.

At the time I thought it was the end of the world. Little did I know all the good things that lay just ahead. And then I look at my nephew, who’s 19, in college and majoring in sports marketing. And there he is, interviewing American Football players on the field and sending me the videos to watch. So maybe my dream isn’t dead after all. Maybe it’s living on through him now.
Oh Wow!, your nephew is doing VERY well indeed :bravo1:

Do you think your love for the sport runs through the family? it must be in the blood.

In retrospect, the best thing that could’ve happened to me. I didn’t know it then of course. It humbled me, and it made me realize once and for all that it was over. I needed to hear it. I didn’t speak to that coach for a couple of years but then one day we’re doing these workshops at school. It was senior year and I couldn’t find a workshop I wanted to do and that’s when I noticed there was a baseball workshop for the day. Well, that was all DFF needed to hear. Funny how a one day workshop can make you forget your pain cause I signed up for it immediately. I hadn’t done anything baseball related in years. There were other kids in the class that still played and knew of my disappointments but I didn’t care about them. What I didn’t know was the person teaching the class was the same coach who cut me from the team two years earlier, the last time I ever played. So when he walked in and saw me I think it was a little awkward. But once we started interacting it was like time had stood still. It was good to patch things up and be cordial again cause I had said some pretty mean things to him the last time we talked and other mean things that I’m sure went back later. He had a team to run, and he couldn’t win with me on it. And that was my fault, not his. But that day in that workshop talking about baseball with him and so many people I used to play with went a long way in my healing process. Everyone was so nice to me and made me feel welcome, which was way more than I expected or even deserved.
I'm so pleased you got to make peace with the Coach and how everyone welcomed you, they wouldn't have had anything to do with you if they didn't like and respect you :)

It’s almost that time of year again and this is when DFF starts getting a little antsy. But when I go on that field now to play a little? I gotta be honest, I don’t know how I ever did that all day as a teenager. Then you couldn’t drag me off that field, and now I can’t wait to get the heck out of there and go rest.
Ha ha! I know that feeling of needing to go and have a rest  we took it for granted that the energy we had as children would always be there (well I did anyway). Isn't it great though that you can still play if you feel like it.

That’s a tough one cause those are two of my favorite actors. I gotta lean towards Costner though. I’ve always said I would want him to play me in a movie. He’s made so many movies I love over the years. Not to mention he’s probably the only bigger baseball fan than me so we have that in common.
Kevin Costner it is then, he will head the cast and be out star delivery driver (a character based on you) :D

I think my fear of them comes from the slithering. I hate things that slither!! Creeps me out.
I'm with you here.

Worms! how do you feel about worms? I do quite a bit of gardening and I'm not happy when I come across a worm and they are everywhere..yuck! Although, I do appreciate we need them and they do a lot of good, I just wish they'd stay out of the way when I'm around..Lol!

I’ve never seen ANACONDA either. Reptiles are my biggest fear. I can’t cope. I don’t discuss this with many people because I’m afraid someone will try and turn it into a practical joke or something.
OMG, ANACONDA! I would never cope watching that, ever! :eck:

Has your winter been bad this year overall?
I don't think its been too bad, we've had some snow, but not a lot and from what I can remember I've only had to defrost the car about 8 times so far.

So I can't complain really .. I will do though

It’s already getting hot here. We’ve been consistently in the 80s most of the winter. I think the next couple of days it’s going down to the low 50s but I’m sure it won’t last long enough.
Has the snow affected you at all? I've seen how they've been getting unusual weather in Florida recently and just wondered if you've had this where you live?

Its good to be back on here again DFF. I hope all is good with you. I'll try and keep up this time

Hi DFF, so sorry I left you again (or maybe you didn't notice?..Lol)
Nah, you didn’t leave me Lashes. I know life gets hectic sometimes. I can definitely relate my friend.

We went to Scotland the week before last, it was school holidays here and then this last week has been so hectic with different things.
A trip to Scotland must’ve been fun! I wonder why your school holidays over there are earlier than ours? I think ours are in March.

Trust me when I tell you that you haven’t missed much here. Just losing your crown on the Last Post thread. I think I too lost it since then but have since regained it. I don’t know, I lost track.

At least I didn't find this thread on page two this time.
I made sure of that! I figured if that happened then you would’ve returned under a Lash-Out and I was really trying to avoid that. Trying to keep you calm for now.

How are you with bee's? I am very fond of bee's, but again they're something which can make people freak out
I’m okay with them. I’ve been stung a couple of times over the years but they don’t bother me. I do know people that will totally freak out if they see one though. I guess it all depends on past experiences.

This all sounds so exotic :D I can't imagine having naughty lizards invading the house.
You kind of get used to them living down here. Usually they’re petrified of us more than we are of them so if one gets in I’ll just chase them til they go back out.

It can be hard to let others in when we are hurting, I know we should, but its not always easy to share it.
No, it’s not easy. I was never good with that for many years. Only in recent years have I been able to share that kind of pain. I guess it depends on the type of pain. Some kinds are easy to share and some aren’t.

Do you think your love for the sport runs through the family? it must be in the blood.
Truth be told I come from a long line of baseball players. I wasn’t even the best player in my family. My grandfather played when he was younger and I lived with him growing up so he was a huge influence. My cousin, who was way better than me, played and he kind of got me started. None of us made it to the pros obviously, but those two pushed me hardest cause they thought I had the best chance, and it didn’t take a lot of convincing at that point cause I fell in love with the sport at such a young age. Then when I was 21, and not playing anymore, I met my dad for the first time. And this was at the time I had kind of soured on the sport a little (a lot). But he was the biggest fan I had ever seen, which my mom had warned me about, and that went a long way in bringing me back to the game.

Oh Wow!, your nephew is doing VERY well indeed :bravo1:
Yes he is, thank you! Well, Uncle DFF was unfortunately a huge influence LOL!! I quite often get the blame for his choice in going into sports for a career but to his credit he never gives me up when he’s asked who was his biggest influence.

I'm so pleased you got to make peace with the Coach and how everyone welcomed you, they wouldn't have had anything to do with you if they didn't like and respect you :)
Thank you for saying this Lashes! This definitely made me smile. Forgiveness is important in life. It’s highly underrated as life is way too short.

Ha ha! I know that feeling of needing to go and have a rest  we took it for granted that the energy we had as children would always be there (well I did anyway).
I’m afraid I did as well. I’m amazed now when I see kids running around all day and not getting tired. It seems like a lifetime ago that we could do that, doesn’t it?

Isn't it great though that you can still play if you feel like it.
My (brief) comeback a few months ago taught me one thing. I’m done. I realized that my heart just isn’t into it anymore. I’m hoping that was my last time on a field to be honest.

(I give it til Spring til I’m back out there)

Kevin Costner it is then, he will head the cast and be out star delivery driver (a character based on you) :D
I love this idea! One thing I can say, he will not be bored with the scripts. That job is like a movie every day.

Worms! how do you feel about worms? I do quite a bit of gardening and I'm not happy when I come across a worm and they are everywhere..yuck! Although, I do appreciate we need them and they do a lot of good, I just wish they'd stay out of the way when I'm around..Lol!
I almost changed my avatar to a picture of a worm just to freak you out but I can’t do that to you Lashes. How do I feel about them? Well, they really don’t bother me but I often mistake them for a baby snake and get a little jumpy.

OMG, ANACONDA! I would never cope watching that, ever!
No, I’m not into those “reptile terrorizing humanity” movies. I had two meetings with snakes while delivering this week. One didn’t bother me so much cause he was very tiny but the other one put things in perspective. My heart might still be sitting in the middle of that driveway to be honest. I should go check.

I don't think its been too bad, we've had some snow, but not a lot and from what I can remember I've only had to defrost the car about 8 times so far.

So I can't complain really .. I will do though
I’m glad to hear your winter hasn’t been too bad this year! If our winter is any indication of what our summer will be like then I’m assuming we’re going to fry this year.

Has the snow affected you at all? I've seen how they've been getting unusual weather in Florida recently and just wondered if you've had this where you live?
If there’s unusual weather going on in Florida right now, I’d love to know where, cause here we’re boiling already. Our winter was an absolute joke. I’d say it lasted less than a week total. I’m guessing it’s cooler in the northern part of the state right now perhaps but it sure never makes it down here LOL

Its good to be back on here again DFF. I hope all is good with you. I'll try and keep up this time
It’s good to have you back my friend! You’re always missed when you’re not here but I know how hectic it gets. We all have a zillion things to do and unfortunately life takes us away sometimes. Don’t ever apologize for that!

I hope you’re having a nice weekend and the same goes for everyone else reading this!

It's been a while, over a month since I last ventured into this thread. The Enforcer may be angry with me. I was just away from the site, busy with other stuff. I should have said something before I left be didn't think I would be gone for that long.

I hope everyone is well. My plant family is well. Many of my orchids are either in bloom or in spike. I did lose my three year-old Poinsettia Duchess in January. Her mate Princess is okay and Streetie is doing quite well after I was so concerned for her back in December. My tiny Poinsettia had a setback but I think she may pull through. Pippa the Pepper has five peppers growing, two the size of plums as of this writing. The weather in my area has been quite mild all winter long.

@Long Lashes did your Snowdrops appear this year? How is your plant family?

I lost my hotness crown?? :eck: don't you worry DFF I will get it back and at least my absence gave you a chance to be hottest for a change ...Lol!

I figured if that happened then you would’ve returned under a Lash-Out and I was really trying to avoid that. Trying to keep you calm for now.
You're very wise. The Enforcer is particularly nasty in the winter, she detests the cold weather .... actually she detests most things

You kind of get used to them living down here. Usually they’re petrified of us more than we are of them so if one gets in I’ll just chase them til they go back out.
I've come across them a time or two when we've been abroad in a hot country, I find them kind of cute, they remind me of mini dinosaurs

ruth be told I come from a long line of baseball players. I wasn’t even the best player in my family. This is so interesting, I had no idea that so many generations of your family were baseball players, its special when something like this sport links you all together.

Well, Uncle DFF was unfortunately a huge influence LOL!! I quite often get the blame for his choice in going into sports for a career but to his credit he never gives me up when he’s asked who was his biggest influence.
This is great :D

Forgiveness is important in life. It’s highly underrated as life is way too short.
Very wise words my friend. :)

I sometimes hear or read about some terrible crime which has happened to an innocent family and when/if they say they 'forgive' the perpetrator I'm filled with respect for them because its not an easy thing to do and to be honest I'm not sure I could 'forgive' ... although I hope (for my own sake) I could.

I love this idea! One thing I can say, he will not be bored with the scripts. That job is like a movie every day.
My mind is already running away with the possibilities for scripts and stories

I want to be in the movie, can I? .. would you mind if I was an office person or a customer or something?..Lol!

I almost changed my avatar to a picture of a worm just to freak you out but I can’t do that to you Lashes.
That would've been so funny :lmao:

I think you should get danger money DFF for all times you have to deal with snakes .... even just typing the word 'snakes' gives me the shivers.

I'd been wondering how all your plants are doing. It sounds like your Orchids are giving you a good show of blooms. I'm sorry to hear about Duchess she was a beauty , but relieved that Princess and 'toughie- Streetie' are doing well.

Ooo so Pippa is already rewarding you for having faith in her :hats: clever Pippa!

Are her peppers still green in colour at this stage?

@Long Lashes did your Snowdrops appear this year? How is your plant family?
Yes, thank you for asking. We have a big display of snowdrops again and oh how they make me smile, did I tell you how the bloom closes up on a dull day and then opens again when they get a glimpse of the sun .. they look so delicate but are toughies.

Our Daffodils are getting ready to bloom, in fact they almost did bloom the other day and then changed their minds when the frost returned  so at the moment they are poised and ready.

I also planted Tulips late last year and they are growing, no blooms yet. I love this time of the year when everything is starting to come to life again, although I get carried away because we've now been forecast possible snow again for this coming week.

Its great to see you again my friend

You're very wise. The Enforcer is particularly nasty in the winter, she detests the cold weather .... actually she detests most things
This is good to know! It’s so hard to imagine you turning into this monster right before our eyes but I have to say it does fascinate me.

I can live with calling them cute until they get in the house. Then I’m not so sure I’d call them that anymore. And off he went, running back into the wildlife.

This is so interesting, I had no idea that so many generations of your family were baseball players, its special when something like this sport links you all together
Yes, it is kind of special. Unfortunately though we all stunk LOL!! But I’m sure I’ll be out there soon once springtime hits. Fortunately my injuries have all healed just in time this year. So why not go back out there and get injured some more? It’s tradition.

I do love that you’re putting some thought into this! The things I’ve encountered on the road over the years and the stories I can tell would fill up an ocean. The complaints, the odd requests, the conversations, the wonderful things that have been said to me, the not so wonderful things that have been said to me, the food, the injuries, some of the crazy things I’ve delivered, it’s all been quite the experience.

I want to be in the movie, can I? .. would you mind if I was an office person or a customer or something?..Lol!
Of course you can be in the movie my friend! I can definitely make you a customer or office person if you like. I’m leaning towards the customer role for you cause I wouldn’t want you to have to work in that building. It’s not for everyone. Your alter ego would not be able to be contained very long I’m afraid.

I think you should get danger money DFF for all times you have to deal with snakes .... even just typing the word 'snakes' gives me the shivers
If I ever got all of my danger money that I’m owed I’d be retired by now. Typing ‘snake,’ thinking ‘snake,’ seeing ‘snake,’ it’s all a problem for me.

I have no idea? Ignore me because I might have dreamed that you were having snow or something
No, actually I think you were right. Apparently they got some minor snowfall up in the very northern part of the state a few weeks ago. Not here though. We haven’t had snow in South Florida since 1978.

I'd been wondering how all your plants are doing. It sounds like your Orchids are giving you a good show of blooms. I'm sorry to hear about Duchess she was a beauty , but relieved that Princess and 'toughie- Streetie' are doing well.

I'm getting a real flower show, my place looks like a florist shop. My very first orchid, Snowy, is blooming for the first time since 2019. I'm so tickled.

Duchess pulled though to after New Years which surprised me but her time was over, sadly. Her cutting, Duchess II remains alive so a part of her remains. Princess had me worried a month ago but she seems to be getting ready for Spring. She's my only whitey. Streetie is doing well and growing new growth. She has some dead zones but they seem for now to be not growing. She is an older plant (from the Christmas of 2019) so I'm glad she is still here. I look her over every day. It will break my heart when she goes.

Ooo so Pippa is already rewarding you for having faith in her :hats: clever Pippa!

Are her peppers still green in colour at this stage?

Pippa the Pepper has me concerned currently as some of her leaves are yellowing. In two months I can have her in the garden. I just need to stop this decline. Poor baby.

Yes, her peppers are still green. She has five. When she gets better I'll have to take a photo of her and my family of other plants.

Yes, thank you for asking. We have a big display of snowdrops again and oh how they make me smile, did I tell you how the bloom closes up on a dull day and then opens again when they get a glimpse of the sun .. they look so delicate but are toughies.

That is amazing. They are indeed toughies to come to bloom in February in the cold and dark. They are like Crocuses, early plants to bloom.
Our Daffodils are getting ready to bloom, in fact they almost did bloom the other day and then changed their minds when the frost returned  so at the moment they are poised and ready.

Same here. They too are toughies as well. They can take those cold days. I do love their scent and yellow and orange colors.
I also planted Tulips late last year and they are growing, no blooms yet. I love this time of the year when everything is starting to come to life again, although I get carried away because we've now been forecast possible snow again for this coming week.

What happened to your avatar @DallasFanForever?
I’m glad you noticed! Let’s say it’s currently under construction. I needed a change to be honest. That avatar was really special to me but I got kind of tired of it LOL

But let’s keep an eye on my flag, shall we? Cause we know what always happens with this. I put it back up for now and it looks correct but after a few days it always mysteriously changes to the flag of Puerto Rico because I’m out here in the middle of the Atlantic and the satellite tends to read my browser wrong at times. It’s nice to be the only one on TT that represents multiple countries though.

The Enforcer is far to hot to be a monster. She's just a raging, powerful superhero/villain defending the forum from evildoers.
Oh, did I make a mistake calling The Enforcer a monster then? I sure hope not. I definitely am trying to behave myself lately.

Oh my doesn't time fly?

Unfortunately the dreaded COVID paid my family a visit, I was lucky and didn't get it myself which is a miracle considering how physically close I've been to Mr L . Everyone is recovering well now, but my poor hubby wasn't well at all for a few days, he's had to have time off work and he is NEVER off work.

He's still testing positive so can't go back to work yet, he's feeling fine now .. just bored and getting under my feet

Anyway enough about me ...

i hope you've made the most of it DFF and enjoyed it whilst you can because I'm going to have sort out that LAST POST thread soon and reclaim my rightful status at the hottest on TT :danc:

I can live with calling them cute until they get in the house. Then I’m not so sure I’d call them that anymore. I found a very tiny one walking around on my kitchen floor the other night and I felt bad for him cause he looked so lost so I just scooped him up very gently with a towel and brought him back outside. You sound exactly like me with the spiders here  ... did I ever tell you the story of when I had a spider living in my car for weeks and weeks? I probably did.

Yes, it is kind of special. Unfortunately though we all stunk LOL!! But I’m sure I’ll be out there soon once springtime hits. Fortunately my injuries have all healed just in time this year. So why not go back out there and get injured some more? It’s tradition.
I think its fab that you all enjoy the same sport and that you can still go and play it at your own pace :D

I guess it depends on the crime or situation. There are probably some things I couldn’t forgive and I can understand why anyone would feel that way. But there’s another part of me that feels as you do and greatly respects people that can forgive. Maybe there’s no right or wrong answer for this stuff?
Very wise of you, I don't think their is a right or wrong answer either.

Sad story coming up ... I still remember an old man being on our news years and years ago, tragically his daughter had been shot and lost her life, but he impressed me so much because he said he "forgave her killer" .. it was one of those wow moments for me and I've never forgotten it or him. He taught me a lot about how deeply some people have the ability to forgive, I'm not saying I could do the same as him if it had happen to one of my family, but even now I can still see his face and hear his words.

Maybe you or we (I'll help..Lol!) should write a bestselling book about this first? .. or do you think we should do the movie first? :cool1

If I ever got all of my danger money that I’m owed I’d be retired by now. Typing ‘snake,’ thinking ‘snake,’ seeing ‘snake,’ it’s all a problem for me.
I saw a woman on TV the other day wearing a snake-skin print blouse. I couldn't concentrate on what she was saying because I couldn't take my eyes of the horrible print on her blouse :yikey:

Oh thank goodness for this ... no not because it snowed, but because I thought I'd lost my mind and was imagining it happened..Lol!

Hope you are well my friend its good to finally catch up with you :)

You two better enjoy your little reigns as Michelle will return soon to take her rightful crown.
You can try Michelle, you can try :p

About those stocking I got her for Christmas?
Oh she loves those. You always have a clever way of reaching The Enforcer .. I'm not saying she likes you (she doesn't like anyone), but she certainly tolerates you which is really impressive :cool1

I'm getting a real flower show, my place looks like a florist shop. My very first orchid, Snowy, is blooming for the first time since 2019. I'm so tickled.
This sounds glorious! :D

Having a cutting of Duchess is very special, I'm so glad you took one Michelle and created Duchess II. I'm hoping Streetie will live forever, I know she can't but I want her to go on for a few more years yet, she deserves to enjoy her happy life after having such a rough start and also after the dare-devil rescue mission you did. :)

Pippa the Pepper has me concerned currently as some of her leaves are yellowing. In two months I can have her in the garden. I just need to stop this decline. Poor baby.
Has she recovered? I wonder if her leaves go yellow because she's putting all her energy into producing peppers?

Have you had much snow this year?
Its been a strange winter, we have had snow on and off. When its snowed ..its really snowed and come down heavy, but not lasted for days like usual. We even had snow last week right after I've been packing away my thick winter jumpers :re: Hopefully that's the last of the snow until next winter.

How about you? how has your winter been?

Unfortunately the dreaded COVID paid my family a visit, I was lucky and didn't get it myself which is a miracle considering how physically close I've been to Mr L . Everyone is recovering well now, but my poor hubby wasn't well at all for a few days, he's had to have time off work and he is NEVER off work.
I’m sorry to hear this my friend but I’m sure glad to hear everyone is on the mend!

He's still testing positive so can't go back to work yet, he's feeling fine now .. just bored and getting under my feet
Well, getting under the feet of women and driving them nuts when we’re sick is our birthright so I fully support him here.

(Just kidding)

i hope you've made the most of it DFF and enjoyed it whilst you can because I'm going to have sort out that LAST POST thread soon and reclaim my rightful status at the hottest on TT :danc:
I am still enjoying my reign. It’s been 31 days now. You and Michelle have been very good to me allowing me to keep my crown this long. It’s definitely my longest reign but I do know that it must come to an end someday.

All I can say to that my friend is ...

ANGRYDISCY.gif.221bc72a6889ef6da565e95749a40f88.gif
I do love this! I just can’t picture myself not liking you even when you’re angry though Lashes. Hopefully I’ll never have to know for sure?

You sound exactly like me with the spiders here  ... did I ever tell you the story of when I had a spider living in my car for weeks and weeks? I probably did
You might’ve told me this but for some reason I don’t recall the story. Refresh my memory on this one cause I’m already laughing by what you’ve said about it so far!

I think its fab that you all enjoy the same sport and that you can still go and play it at your own pace :D
Well, as I figured, spring is here and here comes that “itch” again to start playing. I just went back and read when I said to you that my heart just wasn’t in it anymore and what a crock that turned out to be!! My heart is very much still pumping dirt, chalk and grass apparently cause I’m getting that “itch” more and more everyday. Of course, it’s the rest of me that I’m not sure can keep up with my heart once I get out there but I’m taking it slow this year. It’s my nephew’s fault really cause he told me that he’s been playing a little with his friends now and I know he does that just to make me jealous so I get back out there. And I gotta say, it is working.

I guess I’d have to be in that position to fully understand. I respect his ability to forgive such a tragedy, but like you I’m not sure how I’d react. I can forgive a lot of things but some things I’m just not sure I guess.

Maybe you or we (I'll help..Lol!) should write a bestselling book about this first? .. or do you think we should do the movie first? :cool1
You’ve really thought this through Lashes! I say we go right for the movie. The only problem I see is no one would ever believe it was all true. It would look like total fiction.

I saw a woman on TV the other day wearing a snake-skin print blouse. I couldn't concentrate on what she was saying because I couldn't take my eyes of the horrible print on her blouse :yikey:
Too funny! That would probably freak me out as well. When I think you’re ready and the time is right I’ll tell you the story of when someone I worked with had a box open in his truck one time and a very large snake got out.

Oh thank goodness for this ... no not because it snowed, but because I thought I'd lost my mind and was imagining it happened..Lol!
No, you didn’t imagine it and your mind is still intact apparently cause it did happen. It snows once in awhile up on what they call the panhandle at the very top of the state.

If it snowed down here in South Florida I don’t know what these people would do. They put on fur coats when the temperature drops below 60 so they’d all be a complete mess I’m afraid.

Hope you are well my friend its good to finally catch up with you :)
Good to hear from you as well! And I hope everyone in your house gets well soon!!

That is good to know. I'm often the one who greets her when she enters this world and I am friendly. I too am also the one who tries to ease her/you after she's run amok to revert back into your Long Lashes form. That is not an easy task. :yikey:
This sounds glorious! :D
Old Snowy is in bloom, I'll have to take a photo of her. My whole place looks like a florist shop at this time with the blooming orchids.

BTW, I got my first freebie this past Monday at the grocery store. My first new orchid since 17 October.

Streetie is having some issue again. One of her limbs just died. I was able to cut four shoots off of it before they withered and put root grow powder on them hoping they survive. She's been through so much. Other than that she looks okay with new growth. I just hope she stays healthy as I plan to return her to the garden in May.

Has she recovered? I wonder if her leaves go yellow because she's putting all her energy into producing peppers?

No much. That could be or else I burned her by accident. Still have five plum sized peppers on her. I did give her some fish-based fertilizer today so I hope that helps. Pippa, like Streetie is to be moved into the garden in May if all goes well.
Its been a strange winter, we have had snow on and off. When its snowed ..its really snowed and come down heavy, but not lasted for days like usual. We even had snow last week right after I've been packing away my thick winter jumpers :re: Hopefully that's the last of the snow until next winter.

Our Winter was very mild. Hardly any snow or ice, which is good but I do miss the beauty of the snow.

How are your plants my friend? Any blooming? How's Tiny Tim?

Thank you DFF, we are all well :) .. fortunately no one was seriously ill which might be because of the vaccinations? It was just a shock to see Mr L's test go positive for Covid ... I don't know why it should be such a surprise because I now know of so many people who have tested positive.

Well, getting under the feet of women and driving them nuts when we’re sick is our birthright so I fully support him here.
 ... you men are experts at it! I'm pleased to report Mr L has returned to work today... phew!

I am still enjoying my reign. It’s been 31 days now. You and Michelle have been very good to me allowing me to keep my crown this long. It’s definitely my longest reign but I do know that it must come to an end someday.
Oh my goodness :eck: ... I need to push you off the top spot and return as the Number one hottest for Spring! :p

You might’ve told me this but for some reason I don’t recall the story. Refresh my memory on this one cause I’m already laughing by what you’ve said about it so far!
Here we go :D. It was when I had my first car which was a complete old banger, but how I loved that car, I don't think I've loved any car as much as that first one, anyway, it used to leak ... when it rained ..it rained inside the car and when it was below zero the puddles in my car would freeze over and I'd slip getting in ..Lol!

I noticed that a spiders webs kept appearing , from ceiling to the steering wheel mainly, it drove me mad because I would brake it (the web) and get covered in the stuff .. so this went on for ages, a good few weeks. Eventually I spotted the spider on the back seat and made a rush towards it and the darn thing scurried behind the seat where I couldn't get at it.

Then one day I was collecting a friend in my car, I pulled up outside her house, turned off the engine and quietly sat waiting and then ... suddenly the spider appeared. It broke cover and was walking along the dashboard right in front of me , so I slowly got a tissue and quickly grabbed it , opened the window and shook the tissue to get rid, but the cheeky devil wouldn't let go of the tissue :yikey: (well it was raining) so I ended up having to throw the tissue out of the window too.

And thats it. It makes me smile when I look back. I'd have let the spider stay but it kept making webs as spiders do.

Well, as I figured, spring is here and here comes that “itch” again to start playing. You’ve really thought this through Lashes! I say we go right for the movie. The only problem I see is no one would ever believe it was all true. It would look like total fiction.
the truth is often more strange than fiction

When I think you’re ready and the time is right I’ll tell you the story of when someone I worked with had a box open in his truck one time and a very large snake got out.
Omg! o_O ... yes, tell me, tell me. Lol!

.. although I'm scared of them they still fascinate me. We were watching a nature program last night and up came a grass snake ..yikes! It was trying to attract a female to mate., I tried so hard to watch and was telling myself to 'stop being stupid and get a grip' then all these other snakes joined in the hunt for the same female so after 2 mins of this I had to turn away, I couldn't cope.

Beautiful Snowy :) and it looks like all your orchids are rewarding you for the great care you take of them.

Oh wow! you've gone a long time without getting a new Orchid and freebies are always the best :D do you know what colour her blooms will be?

It was Mothers day here a couple of weeks ago and TESCOS was full of Orchids, I hope they all got sold.

No much. That could be or else I burned her by accident. Still have five plum sized peppers on her. I did give her some fish-based fertilizer today so I hope that helps. Pippa, like Streetie is to be moved into the garden in May if all goes well.
I would imagine if Pippa has still got her peppers then she might be doing okay, but the fertilizer you gave her I'm sure will help.

What a lovely thought that both Pippa and Streetie will get to spend the summer outside in the sunshine, they are lucky that you take the trouble to make them comfy and happy.

Our Winter was very mild. Hardly any snow or ice, which is good but I do miss the beauty of the snow.
I agree that snow is gorgeous to look at, I always find everywhere looks peaceful when covered in snow, its a pain to drive through though.
Its good to hear you've not had a harsh winter Michelle. Have your clocks gone forward yet? ours did this last weekend and as I type this its actually still light outside.

How are your plants my friend? Any blooming? How's Tiny Tim?
Its good of you to remember Tiny Tim :Dand he's doing well, very well. I noticed him in the garden the other day and he's looking very happy and green and not so tiny anymore .. I must take a photo. I’m so glad to hear that you are all doing better! I guess those vaccinations really make a difference. I’d hate to see how sick we’d all be if they were never able to come up with a vaccine. How I’ve never had Covid even once all this time with my job is a miracle all in itself. Unless I did have it and was asymptomatic, of course.

I love this story!! This was quite the war between you and that spider, wasn’t it? Apparently that spider loved your car as much as you did. Now I’m gonna be checking for webs when I get in my car tomorrow morning.

And thats it. It makes me smile when I look back. I'd have let the spider stay but it kept making webs as spiders do.
I gotta say I admire the fact that you can smile about it. I bet most people wouldn’t look back on that story too fondly!

Your Nephew seems to know you well ;)
Yes, too well! His goal is to run his own team someday so I have to stay on his good side. I told him, who knows, maybe I’ll work for him someday if that happens and he feels like giving his dear uncle a job.

... do women play as well or is it mainly the men?
Women generally play softball, which is very similar to baseball but a little different. In softball the ball they use is much larger and they pitch it underhanded. Actually, I did play baseball with a few girls when I was playing but sadly there’s no professional league for women.

Omg! o_O ... yes, tell me, tell me. Lol!
Well, one day one of the drivers went into the back of his truck to retrieve a package. And there it was. A huge, yellow snake slithering across one of the shelves. Apparently someone had illegally shipped it but didn’t pack the box tight enough and he escaped. He (the driver, not the snake) called the station and they had to call a wildlife control person. It was a crazy day! For awhile after that I was a little jumpy every time I went in the back of my truck.

.. although I'm scared of them they still fascinate me. We were watching a nature program last night and up came a grass snake ..yikes! You lasted two minutes longer watching that than I could’ve Lashes. I just can’t. I will change the channel immediately when I see a snake of any kind. I respect your bravery!

Those Floridan's are too used to all that hot weather :cool1
We are very spoiled unfortunately. It’s already pushing 90 degrees here and it’s not even April. It’s barely rained the last few months either so I’m sure we’ll all be boiling down here very soon.

Which reminds me that It was on our news about the awful tornado in Mississippi, I'm so sorry for all the people caught up in that, how devastating for them.
It really puts things in perspective, doesn’t it? I guess there’s not a whole lot you can do when one of those tornadoes is headed right for you. I look at the weather station and I see all that damage and all the people that are now homeless. Not to even mention the unfortunate deaths and it makes you feel very lucky.

I did. When I look back at all the faults on that car I would be terrified to drive it these days, but back then I loved it, the heater never worked either  the windows always steamed up, still loved it though.

Did you find any webs?

I sometimes get webs on my side mirrors on the outside of my car, but I don't have the heart to break them and brush them off. I've been known to drive up the motorway for 100 miles and back ... and still those little flimsy looking webs are unbroken, spiders are so clever

I never really thought about it to be honest. I guess I must have a good immune system. All I remember is people getting sick at work left and right and just waiting my turn. And then I would go on the road and the customers were getting sick too. Such a scary time, wasn’t it?

Does your company issue you with hand sanitiser and disposable gloves? ... nosy me needs to know :D
They supplied us with sanitizer, gloves and masks when everything started but they stopped doing that after awhile. You know, budgets, money, etc, there was only so much they could keep doing for 200 employees and I understand that. Eventually we were all just buying our own stuff.

I've finally usurped you :p ... I doubt my reign will last as long as yours DFF.
Yes, I have noticed Lashes! But I pass you the crown with all honor and graciousness. Well, and also because it seems I really didn’t have a choice.

My advice for a long reign is get that thread buried to page two as fast as possible so everyone else forgets about it. That’s how you keep the crown.

I did. When I look back at all the faults on that car I would be terrified to drive it these days, but back then I loved it, the heater never worked either  the windows always steamed up, still loved it though.
I can relate to this. I get very attached to my cars and tend to keep them longer than I probably should. I’ve only owned five cars in my life. It must’ve been rough without the heater working though, I’m assuming? How’d you deal with driving in the winter months?

Did you find any webs?
I didn’t see any. I see them much more often in my company vehicle than I do my personal vehicle. I wonder why that is? Perhaps the spiders like our warehouse?

I sometimes get webs on my side mirrors on the outside of my car, but I don't have the heart to break them and brush them off
I am guilty of breaking the webs when I see them. I know I probably shouldn’t but it’s kind of a reflex reaction. I just don’t want to get bit I guess.

I've been known to drive up the motorway for 100 miles and back ... and still those little flimsy looking webs are unbroken, spiders are so clever
Now this made me laugh!! I hope these spiders appreciate the fact that you won’t kill them or destroy their webs.

Ooo this sounds very interesting ;) do you mean a job as a trainer or coach?
He wants to basically run the team, kind of like a general manager. He wants to be the guy that goes out and buys all the players and brings them in. I guess I should tell him that I wish he was around about 30 years ago and was running a baseball team then, huh?

I still think you deserve to get danger money for your job :yikey: anything could be in those parcels.
I do like this idea. I quite often think about what’s in those boxes and if I’m in any danger. It’s funny cause I never used to think about it that much when I was younger but I do now. But I guess every job has its dangers when you think about it.

Oh wow, I can't even imagine what the heat feels like right now, we've had rain all day and its been unusually mild for us at 55 degrees.
We finally had some rain last night and this morning but it has stopped now. The temperature is still 75 right now and it’s almost 8:30pm. Your 55 sounds very nice to me right now! I wish we would get more of that in the winter.

You're right of course, a horrible disaster such as this does put everything into perspective. Those poor people had nowhere to hide as the buildings where flattened ... what a terrifying situation to be in, I really feel for them.
It’s so sad! I’ll put on the weather channel to see what’s going on over there but that damage can be tough to watch. I’m not sure if anyone can ever be truly prepared for that and having to basically start their lives all over again.

About 20 years ago I was standing outside with a few people. We were right off the beach and I’ll never forget watching these two tornadoes just spinning out on the water. And the more they spun the closer they seemed to be getting. They were literally heading right for us. Two of the people I was with were actually not worried at all but this one girl and I were very quiet and kept looking at each other. We didn’t know what to do and here come these two tornadoes, still spinning and getting closer and closer. Eventually they just turned around and went back out over the ocean and disappeared but I never forgot that. It was a little scary. Such a helpless feeling for awhile there.

Hope you're off work this coming weekend :)
Thankfully, yes! I used to work six days a week but that’s over. I’ve learned in recent months I need two days off to recuperate. One isn’t enough. Plus it gives me more time for myself and do the things I want to do, which I really need.

You have a great weekend my friend, and the same goes for everyone else here!!

Hi DFF how are you? :)

I never really thought about it to be honest. I guess I must have a good immune system. All I remember is people getting sick at work left and right and just waiting my turn. And then I would go on the road and the customers were getting sick too. Such a scary time, wasn’t it?
Yes it was a very scary time, very weird too, I still can't believe we all went through that, it was like living in a science fiction movie .. well it was to me. Everything felt wrong, unreal and as you say scary.

Yes, I have noticed Lashes! But I pass you the crown with all honor and graciousness. Well, and also because it seems I really didn’t have a choice.
No I didn't give you a choice and you made me laugh out loud by saying in another thread how I tried to murder you by pushing you off a cliff :lmao: ... and I have to say that was also a very lovely post from you.

My advice for a long reign is get that thread buried to page two as fast as possible so everyone else forgets about it. That’s how you keep the crown.
I'm busy working on this  my aim is to get the thread over to page three ..Lol!

I can relate to this. I get very attached to my cars and tend to keep them longer than I probably should. I’ve only owned five cars in my life. It must’ve been rough without the heater working though, I’m assuming? How’d you deal with driving in the winter months?
That car with the Spider was my first car, it was a pile of junk really  but to me back then I couldn't have loved it more., I found it an adventure to drive that car during the winter ... although it was more of a challenge with all the windows misted over and I always wore a big coat and scarf to try and keep warm. When I'd finished with it and moved onto a better car I sold it for scrap and got back what I actually paid for it..Lol!

He wants to basically run the team, kind of like a general manager. He wants to be the guy that goes out and buys all the players and brings them in. I guess I should tell him that I wish he was around about 30 years ago and was running a baseball team then, huh?
Ooo this sounds great and yes it would've been even better if it could've happened 30 years ago for you my friend. Would you like to be coach? or does this not appeal?

It’s so sad! I’ll put on the weather channel to see what’s going on over there but that damage can be tough to watch. I’m not sure if anyone can ever be truly prepared for that and having to basically start their lives all over again.
That's so true and devastating they do have to re-start their lives, it must be heartbreaking to lose your own home and have to start from scratch again. I would imagine they might feel fortunate not to have died like so many, but at the same time they have lost so much.

Oh wow, I can imagine how terrifying that must've been, if that tornado wanted to catch you ... then you would literally have had nowhere to run to find safety, its little wonder you've never forgotten that. How lucky they decided to turn around and go back over the ocean. Perhaps the two people who were not worried are like me and have never experienced a tornado and didn't fully understand what damage they can do?

Thankfully, yes! I used to work six days a week but that’s over. I’ve learned in recent months I need two days off to recuperate. One isn’t enough. Plus it gives me more time for myself and do the things I want to do, which I really need.
I'm so pleased to read this and glad you are looking after yourself :)

DFF I have a daft question for you ... if I may  ...

my latest thing is herbal tea, do you drink it or have ever tried it? I've been trying to cut down on my caffeine intake, I so love coffee as you know, but can't stand the decaffeinated versions . Anyway one of friends has introduced mt to herbal tea and I'm really enjoying it. Just thought I would share this useless information with you :D
