'The Lovely Michelle'
All kidding aside though, you are definitely the Plant Whisperer around here. I went back and read this thread from the very beginning and you should definitely be proud of yourself for how well you take care of your plants and the love and care you give to them. They’re lucky to have you! And good luck with Streetie. I hope she pulls through!

I hope so too. This is Streetie in May 2021, the last time she had red leaves.

streetie051621.jpg

Here is Streetie on 12 October 2023, the day I brought her home.
Streetie-Garden101223.jpg

How’s your weather by the way Michelle? Any snow up in your part of the country yet?
It's getting cooler, some mornings with frost but no snow or sleet yet. We are about 7" of rain lower than normal so some rain would be helpful.

How is your weather DFF?

I’m no expert on plants by any stretch Michelle but I think if there’s anyone capable of bringing Streetie back to good health it would have to be you!

Well, if you need rain then you’re talking to the right person ‘cause we’ve had enough here this week for an entire lifetime!! I don’t remember ever getting this kind of rain in November.

And it’s also still very warm. Still hitting the 80s every day. Usually by now it’s cooled down a little but not this year for some reason.

Have a great weekend my friend, and everyone else here have a great weekend also!!

it’s always a learning experience here. I’ve also learned to never stand too close to the edge of a cliff and that unscrambling words may sometimes be an adventure.
Lol! and how funny Willie started the 'Cludo thread' in the lounge  .. once I saw that thread I knew I had to fess up to my crimes.

Let’s see.............................

It’s 77 degrees here right now at about 7:30 PM so I guess you can say we’ve hit a little bit of a cold front.

Maybe Christmas morning it will hit 40 degrees like it did last year. That was a big surprise! It was so funny though cause everyone was so miserable. Even I wasn’t too thrilled that day. Us spoiled Floridians aren’t used to the cold anymore.

Any snow in your part of the world yet ‘Lashes?
I will never get used to you having such hot weather, I think its because I can't imagine having glorious weather like you everyday.

As I look out of the window right now its pouring with rain, has been all day, its cloudy and so dark that we've already put the lights on half way through the afternoon.

No we don't have any snow yet DFF, although our weather-man threatened us with the possibility of some snow later this week,. I don't believe him :p

I once told my niece she couldn’t go on her first date until she was 27 but I think I’m going to lose that argument. Uncle DFF is learning that his orders don’t get adhered to as much as they once did. Actually I’m getting totally laughed at these days.
I know that feeling of being laughed at :D .. my eldest nephew is in his twenties (I was but a child when he was born :innocent: ) ... anyway, he now has a new baby so that makes me not just an Aunty , but a Great Aunty :yikey:

Thank you for the encouragement my friend! I do need it. I’ve been thinking about what you said here and you have a great point. I think I’m trying to force myself to write when I’m not necessarily ready to instead of writing when I want to.

Who knew this would all be so complicated? LOL
It really is complicated. All I know is that you are a very good writer my friend :)

That was the best part about going back and reading everything again. You both really seemed to have fun with it, and that’s how I’ve always felt about this thread too. No matter what we’re discussing, it’s always fun.
Yes its so relaxing on this thread, I love it because anything goes on here.

Did you read right to the end of the thread DFF or do you still have some pages to go yet?

Ironic, isn’t it? Rescuing a person that once tried to kill me? I mean, that would make a great story!
Yes! :lmao: and maybe it could be made into a movie one day.

Have a good week ahead DFF :gotcha:

How old is Orkie if I may ask?
Ooo I can't remember, I think she's about four years old.

Well I have 79 orchids and several other plants. I really need to back off on the orchids as my three shelves are nearly full. I got some poorly looking orchids this summer with bad root rot from the grocery store. I have been lucky to have kept them alive thus far but it's a process. It's watering day today so I'll check them all over. Many new flower spikes starting to show.
Isn't it amazing how quickly your Orchid collection grew? you may need to buy another set of orchid-shelves for the future :cool1 do you still get that same friendly shop assistant giving the poorly plants to you?

No, I didn't know. How rewarding! You'll never try again?
No Michelle, my radish growing days are over  all that preparation, careful planting and all I got where two baby sized radishes .. Lol! I wouldn't mind trying to grow leeks next, I've been reading up about them, I love leeks.

Streetie is still with me. She came up to my place on 12 October and has lost some leaves but is staying alive for now. This summer wasn't good for her. She fell over twice during storms and lost a few branches. I think she my have a disease as she loses her lower leaves and hasn't had a healthy green look much of this year. She's old and been though a lot but I decided to bring her to my place if she were to die. She needs to be loved to the end and she'll get that here. I keep my fingers crossed she pulls though but it will be a long time before she can go outside again. I'll post a photo of her soon.
Oh Strreetie :love5: I don't usually have favourite plants, but she IS my all time favourite.

Are you going to try a Poinsettia this year? The fifth time is the charm.
Yes I will be trying yet again  keep your fingers crossed for me.

Yes, I thought of you when I saw that thread and I did have to wonder if you’d be stopping by over there. I was so glad you did. Admitting to your crimes is the first step my friend!

I will never get used to you having such hot weather, I think its because I can't imagine having glorious weather like you everyday.
It has its pluses and minuses. Of course I wish it would finally cool down a little but there is also something nice about having warm weather every day. Wearing short sleeved shirts and shorts in November is kind of nice!

As I look out of the window right now its pouring with rain, has been all day, its cloudy and so dark that we've already put the lights on half way through the afternoon.
We actually had a lot of rain this week as well, which is odd for us this time of year. I’m just glad we didn’t have a major hurricane scare here this season.

No we don't have any snow yet DFF, although our weather-man threatened us with the possibility of some snow later this week,. I don't believe him :p
Do you tend to like snow ‘Lashes or are you not a fan of it? I’d give anything to see it again someday but I’m sure once I finally do I’ll be done with it again for a long time.

Great Aunty ‘Lashes does have a nice wring to it. Congratulations my friend!

I know what you mean though. When the younger people in my family start having children of their own I do start to feel my age a little more.

It really is complicated. All I know is that you are a very good writer my friend :)
Thank you for saying this! As of this time I’m still struggling LOL, but that’s good I think. It needs to be a little bit of a struggle at first. I’ll figure it out eventually.

Did you read right to the end of the thread DFF or do you still have some pages to go yet?
I’ve read most of it now. I think I’m about 200 pages in. I gotta say I’m enjoying all the dog and cat GIFS. Those always make me laugh!

A lot of people don’t get it. I’m just painfully shy at first.
I absolutely get it. I've had times when I've been like that. I've had to really push myself sometimes.
I can also freeze in situations that prove a bit of a challenge. It's not the best reaction, but if you're like that then you're like that.
Shyness is a big deal and quite often I'll put on this big brave front which isn't how I feel at all but a good way of coping.

It reminds me of something similar that happened to me once
Another great story DFF, glad it all turned out OK for you. I know they must get fed up and they're only human and I imagine they try extra hard nowadays with any situation being able to be caught instantly on phones. But I guess that's what comes with fame, like it or not.

I don't think I've got anymore claim to fame stories, I think I've got enough to keep me going for a bit.

Appreciation in general is a very underrated thing in my opinion.
Yes I agree and I tend to go a bit overboard to show my appreciation, but I prefer that than not getting it across. We live in a very thankless world unfortunately, but it's a simple word or gesture with a massive meaning when it's genuine. We all want to be appreciated don't we? I think if everyone can show a bit of appreciation by words or actions it can only be a positive nice thing.

I do hope you get New Years off!
We're actually planning to go to London to watch their amazing firework display. We say every year when we watch it on TV we'll go so this year we are. We booked a hotel back in March and can't believe how quickly it's coming round now. I'm literally praying for that time off now and imagine I'll be offering to work allsorts to make up for it.

I used to like rolling my eyes at that one when it was said
Me too! As if I still feel like my mums baby? Yeah right!

My daughter has a lot of freedom and living her own life although still lives at home and we're not best friends like a lot mothers and daughters claim to be. She has her friends and I have mine, but we have that relationship where we know we love each other and are there for each other.

I do look forward to Christmas and birthdays though where I really can treat her like my baby girl.

All I wanted was the candy,
That's so funny! Whenever I took the children out for Halloween when they were younger I was always amazed how generous some people were or how they'd taken the time to separate sweets into little bags. We usually had a big tub full at the end of the night so now I like to give a little back now. Well when I'm home of course.

Halloween is well and truly behind us for this year and bonfire night flew by in the blink of an eye. Do you celebrate Guy Fawkes night? I guess that's a dumb question as he wasn't American, not that it matters. Oh i'm not making much sense here, but hopefully you know what i mean. Is it studied over there as part of history as it is here?
Do you celebrate anything like that?

Your Thanksgiving is fast approaching and I shall be thinking of you all as well as feeling totally envious.

Hope you've had a great week DFF and a wonderful weekend. Do you work weekends? That's nosey I know, but just curious.
Take care for now and hope you're keeping well.

And the same for everyone else here too. Happy Sunday all.

It just takes a little practice and research.
Sounds as though you've done very well and must be extremely patient. I've always wondered if luck played any part? I guess not though as it never has with me.

Try an easy plant for starters
That's good advice.

I discovered Streetie
What a fascinating story. As you say some people rescue animals you rescue plants. You are obviously very dedicated and most of all enjoy it.

You should start writing a book of your rescues. I can see a children's author there writing about all the plants' stories and adventures.

Take care for now, hope all is well.

I can relate to all of this. Luckily my job has a lot to do with getting me out of my shell. I’m not sure where I’d be sometimes without it. I’m forced to interact with hundreds of people every day and it definitely helps. Even on the days I feel I might be struggling a little I have no choice but to open up and that’s a good thing.

Another great story DFF, glad it all turned out OK for you. I know they must get fed up and they're only human and I imagine they try extra hard nowadays with any situation being able to be caught instantly on phones. But I guess that's what comes with fame, like it or not.
Thank you! I would imagine it’s much tougher for them now given modern technology. But like you say, there is a price for fame unfortunately. I’m not sure how I would deal with it to be honest, considering how private a life I tend to lead.

I don't think I've got anymore claim to fame stories, I think I've got enough to keep me going for a bit.
You certainly do! This year alone you’ve done very well with all the Dallas stars you’ve met. I loved your story about meeting Patrick and how generous he seemed with his time, especially hearing how nice he was to your son. That was nice to read.

Kind of a funny story I’m a little embarrassed to tell but I’ve been delivering to this one fancy house for a couple of years. Nicest people. I’ll chat with both the husband and the wife, whoever answers. Two of the nicest, down to earth people I’ve ever met. Little did I know that he’s a drummer for a very famous band. One of the drivers that used to go there told me one time and of course I felt like an idiot. So maybe I do better talking to celebrities when I don’t know who they are yet LOL

There’s no way I can ever say that any better. Nothing irks me more than feeling unappreciated. I will thank someone time and time again when they go out of their way to do something kind for me. I probably thank them so much that I end up getting on their nerves but that’s just me.

This sounds fun! There’s nothing like a good fireworks show. I hope you get that time off.

HA HA!!

My daughter has a lot of freedom and living her own life although still lives at home and we're not best friends like a lot mothers and daughters claim to be. She has her friends and I have mine, but we have that relationship where we know we love each other and are there for each other.
I know what you mean. Every relationship is unique in my opinion. I haven’t seen anyone in my family in almost a month. No one’s fault really, just a crazy time of year for a lot of us. Do we feel any less close though? No, of course not, and Thursday we’ll all be together for Thanksgiving. To tell you the truth, and I’m afraid how this is going to sound, but I value the time apart as much as I do being together. Perhaps even more. I need my space.

I do look forward to Christmas and birthdays though where I really can treat her like my baby girl.
I’m sure that part never changes for a mother. I may have started enjoying Christmas again but my birthday is definitely another story. It’s a very depressing day for me and mainly because of what I know it meant to my mother. I generally spend that day alone, lock myself in the house, shut out the world, gain 10 pounds and watch sad movies all day and that needs to stop. I’m determined to enjoy my next birthday in a couple of months and I’m going to try my hardest this year.

That's so funny! Whenever I took the children out for Halloween when they were younger I was always amazed how generous some people were or how they'd taken the time to separate sweets into little bags. We usually had a big tub full at the end of the night so now I like to give a little back now. Well when I'm home of course.
I definitely appreciate it a lot more now. But when I was younger? Oh, I hated it! I just didn’t get it. I was never into dressing up and scary movies. Plus I hate the sight of blood, real or fake, so it was a holiday I never got into. But once I got older and started taking my niece and nephew trick or treating I began realizing what I had missed out on all those years growing up. The candy. I missed out on a lot of candy.

No, seriously, I missed out on a lot of fun and I kind of regret that but hey, all kids can’t be the same I guess.

Do you celebrate Guy Fawkes night? I guess that's a dumb question as he wasn't American, not that it matters. Oh i'm not making much sense here, but hopefully you know what i mean. Is it studied over there as part of history as it is here?
Do you celebrate anything like that?
I’m not familiar with this to be honest. I’m gonna have to do some research on this one. I think I’ve heard the name but I’m not sure what it entails. Unless it is studied here and it’s just me. That’s also very plausible.

Your Thanksgiving is fast approaching and I shall be thinking of you all as well as feeling totally envious.
Thank you! It is a wonderful holiday. It’s my favorite to be honest, oops I mean favourite. We just all sit around eating and talking and watching American Football all day. It’s one of the few days of the year we’re all together. For me the best part of the day is spending it with my niece and nephew. I look forward to completely terrorizing the both of them all day but what are kids for? Of course they can terrorize back now so that’s also a factor. I notice as they get older I can’t get away with a lot of the stuff I used to pull on them.

Do you work weekends? That's nosey I know, but just curious.
Nah, I don’t think that’s nosey at all. I used to work saturdays but earlier this year I cut down my schedule to five days instead of six. Honestly, I needed the rest physically. It was getting to be too much. I’m sure in December I’ll be working some weekends though. That’s kind of unavoidable this time of year.

Take care for now and hope you're keeping well.

Luckily my job has a lot to do with getting me out of my shell.
I could handle it well when I was younger. Although terribly shy I must've been a good actress because I could hide it and dealt with people all the time.

As I've got older I'm not so good at hiding it or it might be due to the fact I'm able to be honest about it. If I feel nervous or shy, I'm usually OK to say I am now and that puts me straight at ease.

I tried a job some 10 years ago that I loved when I was younger and spent the whole time hiding from and trying to avoid people. I didn't stay there long obviously and admitted to myself it worked for me years ago but not now. I've come a long way since that which is a good thing. Strange how our attitudes and mindsets can change so.

I loved your story about meeting Patrick
Yes it was a lovely moment and certainly helped changed my view of him at the reunion. My son was so chuffed how Patrick spoke with him. Our picture with him takes pride of place up on the wall next to the reunion ones.

We spoke about the reunion last night as we often do. I don't think I'll ever quite get over that experience.

It helped massively being with the people we met that night on our table, they really made it for us and I probably wouldn't have had the chance to meet Linda if it wasn't for one of them. I was able to go to the front of the queue for the meet and greet so I was so very lucky. Later I learned that Linda & Patrick only stayed about an hour then left. The whole night was amazing and I'll never forget it.

I texted the people we met yesterday wishing them happy Thanksgiving.

The candy. I missed out on a lot of candy.
That's funny, I'm sure you've made up for all that lost candy! Lovely to hear about you taking your niece and nephew out trick or treating.

I’m not familiar with this to be honest
We celebrate it on 5th November and have firework displays. We used to have bonfire events too but now with health and safety gone mad it's just firework events. We often have a bonfire at home with the family.

Guy Fawkes was a British soldier involved in the plot to blow up parliament and kill King James 1 in 1605. It's a bit of a religious, political tale.
The rhyme goes; Remember, Remember the 5th of November with gunpowder, treason and plot (there's more but I can't remember it)

It is a wonderful holiday.
How did your Thanksgiving go? I was terribly envious and kept going on about it and driving my family mad!

Hope you had a great time playing your niece and nephew up.

I used to work saturdays
I bet that was nice cutting out Saturdays. I'm not keen working weekends but I do get every other one off now which is good. Hopefully it's benefited your health. I guess you're extra busy as we approach December?

I think I was pretty much the same way. I hid it well as a kid but now it’s much harder to cover up LOL

As I've got older I'm not so good at hiding it or it might be due to the fact I'm able to be honest about it. If I feel nervous or shy, I'm usually OK to say I am now and that puts me straight at ease.
Usually if I mention it to people they will tell me they don’t see it, so maybe I’m just too self conscious about it.

I notice this also. Someone once told me I would snap out of my shyness when I had to someday because I’ll be forced to if I want to function in life, and that’s exactly what happened. Eventually there was no choice. I’m still petrified daily but at least now I can deal with it when I need to.

Yes it was a lovely moment and certainly helped changed my view of him at the reunion. My son was so chuffed how Patrick spoke with him. Our picture with him takes pride of place up on the wall next to the reunion ones.
I’m so glad it went well and ended up being a nice experience! I’m still waiting to run into a Dallas star.

(Not a Katherine Wentworth in Swan Song-style-run-into of course)

We spoke about the reunion last night as we often do. I don't think I'll ever quite get over that experience.
I’m sure you won’t. It had to be such a surreal experience for you. I can tell what it meant to you. You certainly traveled a long way for it, that’s for sure!

It helped massively being with the people we met that night on our table, they really made it for us and I probably wouldn't have had the chance to meet Linda if it wasn't for one of them
Sometimes the people we meet at these events can be just as rewarding as the event itself.

I was able to go to the front of the queue for the meet and greet so I was so very lucky
Did you knock anyone over or push them aside? It’s okay if you did. I’ve done this myself.

I texted the people we met yesterday wishing them happy Thanksgiving.
It’s nice you’ve remained in touch. Are you pestering them with questions about Thanksgiving yet?

That's funny, I'm sure you've made up for all that lost candy! Lovely to hear about you taking your niece and nephew out trick or treating.
I definitely made up for the loss of candy. Unfortunately the niece and nephew are too big to go trick or treating anymore. I find that ironic considering they were the two people that got me into it finally. Now I want to go and they’re done with it.

We celebrate it on 5th November and have firework displays. We used to have bonfire events too but now with health and safety gone mad it's just firework events. We often have a bonfire at home with the family.
This sounds like fun! Leave it to health and safety to change things nowadays however. I do get it though. I get it, I get it.

Guy Fawkes was a British soldier involved in the plot to blow up parliament and kill King James 1 in 1605. It's a bit of a religious, political tale.
The rhyme goes; Remember, Remember the 5th of November with gunpowder, treason and plot (there's more but I can't remember it)
I looked this one up and actually found it quite fascinating. I can’t believe I never heard of this before. What an amazing story!

How did your Thanksgiving go?
It went very well, thank you for asking! The food was great. We had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, lasagna, string beans, apple pie, pumpkin pie, chocolate cake, and I’m sure I’m forgetting something else.

Let’s see, we watched American Football. Well, the men did anyway until the females turned it off but then we put it back on when the coast was clear. Typical holiday stuff, you know.

I was terribly envious and kept going on about it and driving my family mad!
You know, I checked and there’s no law over there that says you can’t have your own Thanksgiving. I bet your family won’t be as mad once they get a chance to celebrate it. I bet they’d like it.

Hope you had a great time playing your niece and nephew up.
Yes, they’re the main reason I go to be honest. Sadly as they get older I don’t get the time with them I used to but I do understand. Maybe that’s why I look forward to these holidays so much now.

I bet that was nice cutting out Saturdays. I'm not keen working weekends but I do get every other one off now which is good. Hopefully it's benefited your health. I guess you're extra busy as we approach December?
I really couldn’t do six days a week anymore. Physically it was getting tough. Even mentally it made a difference. Of course December is a different story and there are few days off in this business this time of year but I can live with it.

Do you miss working every weekend? I actually do sometimes. I love the time off but it does feel strange for me. Maybe I just got too used to a six day week over the years.

Hope you had a fantastic Thanksgiving DFF and are keeping well. Take care for now and have a lovely weekend.
Thank you LML!! I hope you are keeping well also and have a nice weekend!!

Shyness is a big deal and quite often I'll put on this big brave front which isn't how I feel at all but a good way of coping.
I'm nodding in agreement with your comments. I live in Basingstoke and have done for soooo long I identify as a "Basingstoker" and I buy into the unwritten but understood rule that only Basingstoker's have the right to bad mouth our town.

I'm actually quite reserved and take along time to warm to people, as I've been told plenty plenty times. As I cut about the town going about my business with annoying regularity people come up to me and say "Hi The Notorious B.I.G how are you" and then bang on about whatever, while I do the mental gymnastics and try to figure who he/she/it is and how do they know me as I usually try to keep my s*** on the downlow in respectable company and under public gaze. When I'm in nefarious company... things done changed.

Trying to be polite I engage and exchange platitudes before looking for a convenient point to close it down. A guy I used roll with said it because in new company I'm polite and well spoken and people remember that instead of the foul mouth monosyllabic beasts devoid of social graces. Nice to get positive feedback back when I'm cutting about I seldom want to engage and in social settings I shy away from meaningful engagement with strangers until I've meet 'em a few time and have a feel for them and keep it superficial.

On rare occasions when I'm moved to engage with some next man/woman they look at me as if I'm a danger to there wellbeing. Goes without saying I'm a delight even if I often lose my initial train of thought.:laughs:

Of course, well it's OK if we ourselves say bad things about where we live, but no one is allowed to!

I'm actually quite reserved and take along time to warm to people,
Me too, I'm getting better as I get older and try hard not to be so judgemental/suspicious when first meeting people. Trouble is past experiences have taught me I've usually always been right with my initial judgement.

while I do the mental gymnastics and try to figure who he/she/it is
I do that so often. If I've had a nice conversation I wish I could later meet that person again once I've remembered who they are and explain any vagueness on my part, which is usually present all the time anyway. Other times of course I'm thankful I don't remember them and don't even try to.

During lockdown I had a lengthy chat with someone who approached me in a supermarket and obviously knew me well. I managed to hold a decent, very general conversation, but when they left and my husband asked who it was I said I didn't have a clue! Masks for me during that time were tricky for hearing people and trying to see out of my steamed up glasses.

Trying to be polite I engage and exchange platitudes before looking for a convenient point to close it down
I'm good at being able to cut off a general chit chat. I observe endless people that you can see squirming while not really wishing to engage. I'm not rude, but I'll just politely explain I need to be somewhere.

On rare occasions when I'm moved to engage with some next man/woman they look at me as if I'm a danger to there wellbeing
That's it! When I do muster all my confidence and attempt to start up a conversation with someone you can guarantee I'll get that look as if to say why on earth are you talking to me, don't smile at me, why are you happy, I don't know you.

On the whole though most people are more than happy for a chat for a way of passing the time or in awkward public situations.

It is a dying trend these days when everyone is on their mobiles and most with headphones.

I’m so glad it went well and ended up being a nice experience! I’m still waiting to run into a Dallas star.
That would be amazing for you. Who would be top of your wish list? Do I need my crucifix out again?

(Not a Katherine Wentworth in Swan Song-style-run-into of course)
That's brilliant, love that! An episode that so many fans remember and regard as one of the best. I do remember it, just not like that.

You certainly traveled a long way for it, that’s for sure!
When I tell people about it, they can't believe we only went there for 3 nights (still worth every minute) I'd used so many holidays at work and fitting it around family stuff meant we couldn't really stay longer. It was also arranged without much notice. Believe it or not I don't go on about it to everyone, just my family and on here obviously!

Did you knock anyone over or push them aside? It’s okay if you did. I’ve done this myself.
Ha ha that's funny! I think I would have if I'd needed to.

One of the people we were sat with seemed well known there and had won a signed photo by being the highest bidder (I didn't want it, Linda wasn't on the pic!) He managed to sweet talk security that himself and me should get priority as he'd won the picture and I'd travelled all the way from the UK. It worked!

I get it, I get it.
I get it too, but it's such a shame. I have many happy memories of going to bonfire night events with a huge bonfire, fireworks, hotdogs and hot chocolate. These events are still good, but I always think something's missing without that bonfire.

What an amazing story!
I suppose it is really and probably not appreciated because we're taught it in school, but it's definitely part of our history and still celebrated.

It went very well, thank you for asking!
Sounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, I really hope you had the best time and enjoyed the time with family or loved ones. The food sounds terrific, hope you had plenty of candy too!

You know, I checked and there’s no law over there that says you can’t have your own Thanksgiving
Definitely start that next year I reckon. I celebrated in my mind with all of you.

Do you miss working every weekend?
No! I wish I didn't have to work weekends at all, but I went quite a few years not doing so and I guess I was spoilt, but it's part of my job so I make sure I really enjoy the weekend when I'm not working and make the most of it.

Here's hoping you've had a good start to the week DFF. Hope you won't get too tired as you get busier. Take care for now and hope you're keeping well.

Same goes for everyone else here too and Happy Monday if there can be such a thing!

You know, that’s a tough question. I’ve never given it much thought to be honest. I guess at the very top of my list would be Morgan Brittany or Mary Crosby. They played two of my favorite characters and for some reason I always had a soft spot for the bad girls of Dallas.

An episode that so many fans remember and regard as one of the best. I do remember it, just not like that.
My personal all time favorite episode. I wouldn’t change a thing about it. It was perfect. I’m also partial to it for another reason though. I remember watching with my mom that night. It was just the two of us and that was rare at this point. She wasn’t doing so great at the time and I was only 10 so there were always others around to help take care of the both of us. But that night due to some conflicting circumstances we ended up being the only two home for a change. We watched that entire episode together and that meant a lot to me cause I didn’t get a whole lot of time alone with my mom growing up. It just never seemed like it was enough, so that night was very special. So til this day when I think of Dallas I think of Swan Song, and when I think of Swan Song I think of my mom and that night. That was the night I became a Dallas fan forever.

Well, it obviously meant the world to you considering you traveled halfway across the world for it. I’d say you accomplished your mission, even if it was only for three nights. Obviously it was well worth it.

That was very nice of him! I’m curious, were there other people there from the UK also or were you the only one that you were aware of?

Yes, safety regulations have a way of getting in the way sometimes unfortunately. I guess we have no choice but to just understand and respect that. A lot of things we used to be able to do are kind of done now.

Sounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, I really hope you had the best time and enjoyed the time with family or loved ones. The food sounds terrific, hope you had plenty of candy too!
Thank you! It was definitely a nice holiday. It’s a little hard getting the entire family together these days so on these rare occasions it does happen it feels special.

Now that you mention it though I don’t remember seeing any candy.

Definitely start that next year I reckon. I celebrated in my mind with all of you.
Is your family getting any more receptive to the idea? Or are you still driving those poor people mad?

I don’t know how I ever worked weekends all those years now that I’m not doing it anymore. I’m getting so spoiled now that I’m afraid that when they tell us soon we have to work a couple of Saturdays in December I’m going to throw a fit the likes of which has never been seen.

Here's hoping you've had a good start to the week DFF. Hope you won't get too tired as you get busier. Take care for now and hope you're keeping well.
It’s already so crazy!! I am getting too old for this stuff. I’m already seeing some nasty attitudes but I promise that mine is still good.

I hope you’re having a nice week so far as well! You take care and have a great Tuesday!

And the same goes for anyone else reading this of course!

That really shocks me I don't know why, but if you like the bad girls in Dallas it makes perfect sense.
They're probably my least 2 favourite. I couldn't stand Katherine and didn't care much for Morgan Brittany (sorry) I'm often torn with Kristin, I quite liked the original one. Mary Crosby irritated me, but I know she was well liked.

My personal all time favorite episode
What a truly wonderful story, I can see why that episode would be so special to you.
I have too many favourite episodes and couldn't possibly pick an all time favorite one.
Next time I see Swan Swan I'm going to make an extra effort to like it because of your amazing story.

I’d say you accomplished your mission
I really did. I had a mission, I fulfilled it and then some!

were there other people there from the UK also
No we were the only ones. I believe there was a guy from Germany that appeared to be a follower of them when they tour and was known, but only us from the UK as Sandie Newton read out!

Your fellow Americans treated us like royalty I must say. The whole audience knew of us by the end of the night, I felt famous and so special. People were so keen for us to be made welcome and appreciated that we travelled so far. They could also tell what a massive Sue Ellen/Linda fan I am.......not sure how!

Is your family getting any more receptive
They're coming round to it, I drive them mad anyway being such a Dallas freak. I call it my only vice, so I think that's not too bad.

It’s already so crazy!!
I bet it is, I look forward to hearing some of your delivering tales, you must have loads.

but I promise that mine is still good.
I wouldn’t ever think anything less.

Here's hoping you're having a great weekend DFF, take care for now.

Same to everyone else here too, Happy Saturday! Hope you're all keeping well.

I hope I didn’t make you shake your head and roll your eyes again LOL. I guess I always liked Katherine’s tenacity. I mean, the girl just wouldn’t give up no matter what. She did everything she could to get Bobby and when that all didn’t work she drove over him. Okay, I know she was aiming for Pam and it was a dream anyway but you know what I mean.

As for Kristin I preferred Mary Crosby in the role. I guess my affection for her stems from her being the original baddie of Dallas. She was the first one and probably played it the best.

I was actually watching a little before that. I started watching sometime in late ‘83, but that episode was what made me a super fan. After that episode I never missed another til the end.

That’s nice to hear! Most of us Americans really aren’t that bad.

All kidding aside though, I think when everyone is at an event like that, whomever they came to see, they’re all united by that event somehow. I know I often feel that way with these things.

They could also tell what a massive Sue Ellen/Linda fan I am.......not sure how!
Yeah, this is a little odd to me ‘cause you really don’t wear it on your sleeve or anything.

I don’t think that’s a bad vice to have my friend. It’s part of who you are and you should never change that. I have so many vices with shows I watched growing up that I drive my family crazy with.

But I would definitely keep driving them mad about Thanksgiving. I think you’re going to win them over with that one.

I look forward to hearing some of your delivering tales, you must have loads.
You wouldn’t believe what I’ve seen on a daily basis. I do love being on the road but quite often I’ve wondered why I do it. I guess I’m doing it so long I just can’t picture myself doing anything else.

Just yesterday I went to a house I’m going to for years. Well, she has her Christmas decorations up but it’s not going so well. Her inflatable candy cane doesn’t stay upright and of course it’s blocking her entire walkway so here I am fighting with this 10 foot high candy cane from (Heck) and reevaluating my life as it gets the better of me. Sure enough she comes outside and sees me struggling and all she’s interested in is asking me how my day’s going and how I’ve been. I kindly return the favor, asking her how she’s been but all I’m really trying to do is make this stupid candy cane stand up properly and it’s just not happening. I kindly informed her I’m losing the battle with the peppermint prop and she looks like she’s about to burst out in laughter but is choosing to hold it in instead. Here I am fighting with an inflatable Christmas sweet and trying not to lose my temper yet somehow I picked the house of the nicest customer I’ve ever known for it all to happen at. I let go of the red and white striped horror show and sure enough the whole thing fell down to the ground. I bid her a good day and a nice weekend and she said it was nice to see me again as well and hoped to see me soon. I’m hoping she destroys the video of the entire event but I have a feeling she’s sitting in her living room right now watching it over and over with her family and laughing til she’s in tears.

Here's hoping you're having a great weekend DFF, take care for now.
My weekend has been nice so far, thank you! Just resting and healing up mostly.

I hope you’re enjoying yours as well LML and you take care also!
