How long will it take us to get to 10,000 posts?

It certainly did help thank goodness. I'm still rubbish at numbers, but manage to get by in this tech world that does it all for you. Gone are the days when we had to add up in our heads.
I guess modern technology has made math easier for most of us. So many things we had to add up ourselves now get done for us and that’s a good thing. I am amazed sometimes at how much we’ve evolved regarding modern technology.

Thankfully my job doesn't require me to be good at maths.
Unfortunately mine does. But of course it’s the same in that a lot of it has become easier in this world now. I have things available to me now that I didn’t only a few short years ago and I often wonder how the job even got done back then.

Love reading your story about the waitress, you sound very thoughtful in such situations and not wanting to hide away like the waitress. I'm sure she was fine afterwards.
Thank you! Well, I kind of did want to hide (lol) but I felt so bad for her actually going into hiding that I was afraid she was gonna get in trouble cause of me being a klutz.

I just thought it was us in the UK that were unprepared which I understand a bit as our weather is so unpredictable. But with weather predictions being so accurate nowadays you would think we'd be better equipped.
That’s what I don’t understand. Even here with the hurricane season I’d say very few people actually are prepared until the last hours. Then all heck breaks loose and it looks like the apocalypse in all the stores until the storm gets here.

Bless you for saying that. I thought I was a positive person but your words are so encouraging. I think my lack of confidence has sometimes made me appear negative. I know deep down I'm not a negative person, but I appreciate I don't always come across that way.
I think we all lack self confidence in some aspect of our lives, and I think we can all be negative at times also. It’s all normal, but no I don’t find you negative at all, and I would never think from your posts that you lack self confidence.

I can be negative sometimes, but that’s usually at work because I’m there 25 years and I get frustrated when the people half my age don’t listen. But then after I’m done scolding them I’ll apologize for the negativity cause I will feel bad. I HATE being negative and I’ll try to catch myself when I’m doing it but we all have our moments.

I hope you're fully rested and had a great weekend my friend.
I had a nice weekend, thank you! I am now fully rested and ready to start a new week. I think?

I had a wonderful time in London thankyou.
I'm pleased I managed to still find the time to get on the forum!
I’m glad you had a nice trip! And I’m also pleased you found the time to be here. You’ve been keeping the Dallas threads, and this one, moving along.

Have a great week!!

And of course the same goes for everyone else reading this!!

. I am amazed sometimes at how much we’ve evolved regarding modern technology.
Yes I do marvel at our tech world sometimes although at times I miss what used to be. I feel sorry for the young generation who will have lost the art of conversation and listening skills, not to mention being able to spell properly.
This computer age is only as good as the human controlling it. Shops and restaurants have to close if their tills go down! I fear one day it will all go bang or something will happen and we'll have no choice but to revert back to how we were. How can all this tech cope?
I guess that's just my little mind working overtime and never really being able to fully grasp how fast our modern world moves.
But I do often wonder what's wrong with good old fashioned pen and paper?!

Even here with the hurricane season
Today we're waiting on Storm Agnes which is on it's way bringing strong winds and rain. I love how we name our storms and hurricanes, do you do that?

Our weather is nothing compared to what you get, but I bet there'll be some disruption here and something we'll all be talking about. Good old Brits always talking about the weather!

and I would never think from your posts that you lack self confidence.
I suppose it's easy to hide behind a chosen name and picture profile. I do enjoy putting forward another side of an opinion or argument which is easy to do here.
As I've got older I'm better at voicing my opinion in a more controlled professional manner. As a youngster I could be a bit of a hot head which was a way of covering up my shyness.
Being really nice natured to people though has caused issues in the past where I could've been taken advantage of. One small example was answering my phone to a wrong number once and saying politely sorry you've got the wrong number. The caller then preceeded to keep ringing me saying I had a lovely voice and sounded so nice. I was hassled all day! I've got many other examples too which can wait for another time.
It hasn't put me off being nice natured, just how to handle things differently and be more assertive if needed.

I’m there 25 years and I get frustrated when the people half my age don’t listen.
Wow that's quite an achievement working the same job for 25 years. I admire loyalty and believe strongly in it.
I'm sure you handle those youngsters in a positive professional way. They will appreciate that one day.

You’ve been keeping the Dallas threads, and this one, moving along.
I do try, I miss the Dallas threads when they go quiet!

I have gone on a bit this morning! Hope you have a great day and are keeping well.

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Yes I do marvel at our tech world sometimes although at times I miss what used to be
Same here. Sometimes I feel everything moves a little too fast now. I miss the simplicity, although I do appreciate the way some of these things do make our lives easier.

I feel sorry for the young generation who will have lost the art of conversation and listening skills, not to mention being able to spell properly
I get the impression they feel more sorry for us though. I am amazed at how fast the younger people can grasp the things I can’t, I’ll admit that.

I fear one day it will all go bang or something will happen and we'll have no choice but to revert back to how we were. How can all this tech cope?
The younger people won’t know what to do and I fear we won’t remember what to do

But I do often wonder what's wrong with good old fashioned pen and paper?!
Nothing at all! As you know I love to write, but I’m a little old fashioned when it comes to how I do it though. I have to use pen and paper. I can’t type my thoughts until later when I’m all finished. I have to write it out first.

Today we're waiting on Storm Agnes which is on it's way bringing strong winds and rain
I hope all is well? Hopefully you and everyone else in the UK is safe!! Did you at least get a day off for the storm?

I love how we name our storms and hurricanes, do you do that?
Oh yes, our natural disasters come complete with names as well. I’m just not very good at remembering the names though for some reason. Maybe that’s because we get so many storms here and it gets a little confusing after awhile.

I tend to prefer the simple named storms though. I’m not really a fan of the long named ones. My biggest fear in life is dying in a storm that I can’t even pronounce.

Our weather is nothing compared to what you get, but I bet there'll be some disruption here and something we'll all be talking about. Good old Brits always talking about the weather!
Well I hope this storm is not that bad for you. Hopefully you don’t lose power or anything like that. We deal with that here quite often this time of the year.

I do enjoy putting forward another side of an opinion or argument which is easy to do here.
I love reading everyone’s different opinions. We can’t all agree on everything. I try to see all sides of an argument, and whether I agree or not I do listen, and I value everyone’s opinion. Many times I’ve noticed someone quoting my post and perhaps disagreeing but that’s fine. Maybe they’ll make a valid point that might make me look at things differently. I try to stay open minded and all I ask for is the same.

As I've got older I'm better at voicing my opinion in a more controlled professional manner. As a youngster I could be a bit of a hot head which was a way of covering up my shyness.
I was the same way. I was a bit of a hot head in my younger days but I grew up eventually. When I realized people didn’t want to deal with me anymore I figured it was time to mature.

Please forgive me cause I know it had to be extremely annoying and even downright scary to keep getting hassled but this really made me laugh!

I can relate though. Being good natured can lead to problems but I just can’t be the other way.

Wow that's quite an achievement working the same job for 25 years. I admire loyalty and believe strongly in it.
It went so fast! I don’t know where it went to be honest. It’s a job I took part time in my early 20s not expecting to stay very long. Luckily I had family that talked me into staying there. Glad I listened. Loyalty is underrated and under appreciated, especially nowadays.

I'm sure you handle those youngsters in a positive professional way. They will appreciate that one day.
Thank you for saying this!

I’m assuming I won’t be there another 25 years so I figure I’m not the future of the company at this point. I guess the least I can do is try to turn it over to the youngsters at some point and help them get ready for that day.

(But in the meantime I’ll keep running circles around people half my age cause I do kind of enjoy it)

I miss the Dallas threads when they go quiet!
So do I. The Dynasty threads are also very entertaining but it’s been so long since I’ve watched an episode that I’m a little rusty to discuss that one.

Were you a Dynasty fan? I loved it when I was a teenager. I used to like all the glitz and glamour.

I have gone on a bit this morning!
Apparently I have too, but that’s what this thread is all about! We go on and on and on and on and no one knows what we’re really talking about except for us.

Hope you have a great day and are keeping well.

I get the impression they feel more sorry for us though. I am amazed at how fast the younger people can grasp the things I can’t, I’ll admit that.
They can't imagine their world any differently without all the tech, the idea is so alien to them as this world was to us I would imagine.
When I refer to my pre tech life and how we managed I say "when life was in black and white!"

The younger people won’t know what to do and I fear we won’t remember what to do
That's probably true. What a great quote!

As you know I love to write,
I did gather from other threads and posts that you enjoy writing. In what capacity?

As a young child I was always writing stories. I think I was inspired by Dallas as they were like a drama more than a fairytale or kiddie story. Although saying that I always had a great imagination pre Dallas and used to play with little bottles that all had names!
English language and literature were my favourite subjects at school.

but I grew up eventually.
I'm sure I will too one day! :D

I hope all is well? Hopefully you and everyone else in the UK is safe!! Did you at least get a day off for the storm?
It was nothing like expected at least where I live anyway. We had some wind but couldn't say strong wind and the rain was minimal. Up North was meant to bare the brunt. I live more in a valley and luckily it seems kind of sheltered. I haven't watched any news about it yet so I hope there weren't too many problems.
I've got a few days off now, after a couple of busy ones, today will be a restful flumpy day.

I love reading everyone’s different opinions. We can’t all agree on everything.
That's what I love about it and how a different point of view can make you see things from another angle. Also if something you posted is misconstrued, which is so easy this way, but actually it's interpreted in a different way to what you meant, that can be rather amusing and enlightening.
Yes mutual respect is so important.

Please forgive me cause I know it had to be extremely annoying and even downright scary to keep getting hassled but this really made me laugh!
I laughed at this making you laugh, that's so funny!

It was a bit creepy at the time only because of other things going on.

I do have quite a posh telephone voice though, I bet people are confused if I meet them face to face as well, wondering why I don't speak the same as I do on the phone.

Being good natured can lead to problems but I just can’t be the other way.
Oh me neither. Unfortunately there are enough horrid bitter people around, although it still amazes me when acts of humanity and kindness come to light.

Loyalty is underrated and under appreciated, especially nowadays.
Unfortunately that's true. It can be very hard to watch someone who isn't loyal and takes advantage be valued the same way you are and yet you wouldn't dream of behaving that way.

Sometimes it appears they get thought of more, but I know which I'd prefer.

But in the meantime I’ll keep running circles around people half my age cause I do kind of enjoy it
Fairplay, you keep doing that!

Were you a Dynasty fan?
No I was not! I couldn't stand it. I hated it being on (which it was in those days of very few channels). As a youngster I hated it with a vengeance. I felt sad for Dallas that Dynasty was a rival. I used to sit there reading my Dallas annual in protest. Something that me and my family still laugh about today.

I have watched it occasionally on re runs and sometimes thought it wasn't too bad, but on the whole I thought it was a poor imitation.

I really enjoyed Knots Landing and loved watching re runs. I also quite liked Falcon Crest, but like you, not enough to join in with any threads.

We go on and on and on and on and no one knows what we’re really talking about except for us.
Well that's good enough reason for me to continue to go on and on!

Hope you have a great day DFF, take care.

Happy Thursday everyone!

They can't imagine their world any differently without all the tech, the idea is so alien to them as this world was to us I would imagine.
When I refer to my pre tech life and how we managed I say "when life was in black and white!"
Sometimes I feel so lost. I feel like things have to be explained to me over and over and when it’s a 19 year old nephew and a 14 year old niece doing the explaining it’s hard not to feel stupid.

But I have to say that at least they do appreciate the things I tell them about how it was all different “back in my day.” Oh no, I hate saying that! I told myself I’d never, ever use that expression but here we are.

I did gather from other threads and posts that you enjoy writing. In what capacity?
Well, mostly sports. I’m an admitted sports junkie. It’s really bad and always has been, but I’ve written about other stuff too. The problem is I’ve never stuck with it. Finding enough time in life isn’t always easy but this time I’m trying my hardest to do something with it.

As a young child I was always writing stories. I think I was inspired by Dallas as they were like a drama more than a fairytale or kiddie story
I think Dallas inspired a lot of writers. Let’s face it, for most of its run it was one of the best written shows on TV.

. Although saying that I always had a great imagination pre Dallas and used to play with little bottles that all had names!
That is quite an imagination LOL!! Naming bottles, now that’s definitely creative! My thing was taking my Star Wars action figures and using them as professional wrestlers to choreograph fights. I’d do this for hours at the amusement of all the grownups of the house.

It was nothing like expected at least where I live anyway. We had some wind but couldn't say strong wind and the rain was minimal.
I’m glad to hear this! Hopefully everyone in the UK fared as well as you did. I was so surprised when I took a look at Agnes last night and saw the wind velocity was around 85 MPH at one point. That’s a serious storm and I didn’t realize you get anything like that over there.

Over here, well, we call that Monday.

I've got a few days off now, after a couple of busy ones, today will be a restful flumpy day.
Enjoy your time off! I have a few of those coming up soon myself and they are much needed.

Also if something you posted is misconstrued, which is so easy this way, but actually it's interpreted in a different way to what you meant, that can be rather amusing and enlightening.
This has happened to me quite a few times. I’ve posted things that were misconstrued and I’ve read posts incorrectly and totally misunderstood as well. That usually happens when I need sleep. That’s when I know it’s time to log off.

I do have quite a posh telephone voice though, I bet people are confused if I meet them face to face as well, wondering why I don't speak the same as I do on the phone.
Did you ever have a difficult time convincing someone in person that it really was you since you sounded different?

I’m sitting here now wondering if I sound any differently in person than I do on the phone. I guess no one’s ever told me I sound different anyway.

Unfortunately there are enough horrid bitter people around,
Sadly, yes. I tend to view them as a challenge though. I notice humor will lessen the bitterness a little in some cases. In the other cases I’ll just walk away muttering to myself.

although it still amazes me when acts of humanity and kindness come to light.
I’ll never get tired of kindness. We need it more than ever now. I can be having the most crazy, frustrating day but if I see someone do something kind it will put everything back in perspective for me, especially if that kindness is directed towards me.

Unfortunately that's true. It can be very hard to watch someone who isn't loyal and takes advantage be valued the same way you are and yet you wouldn't dream of behaving that way.

Sometimes it appears they get thought of more, but I know which I'd prefer.
If everyone was just as loyal as pets are I think we’d all be much better off.

I think I’m loyal to a fault sometimes, but when I do question the loyalty of others they usually tell me I’m crazy. So maybe I’m wrong, they are loyal and I am nuts. I guess all three could be possible.

Oh, you gotta get on the Dynasty threads. If you posted this over there I’d die laughing!

It definitely wasn’t Dallas for me but for some reason I did enjoy it. I guess my grandparents were huge fans of it so eventually I started getting into it because of them.

I have watched it occasionally on re runs and sometimes thought it wasn't too bad, but on the whole I thought it was a poor imitation.
It was just meant to capitalize on Dallas’s fame, like all the prime time soaps that followed. Obviously Dynasty was meant to copy Dallas but with more glitz and glamour. I enjoyed it but definitely not as much as Dallas.

I really enjoyed Knots Landing and loved watching re runs. I also quite liked Falcon Crest, but like you, not enough to join in with any threads.
I barely watched either one when they were on, regrettably. I do remember being very confused when I would hear about there being Ewings out in California. It took me awhile to understand Knots was a spin-off of Dallas.

Falcon Crest confused me even further because I didn’t understand why Jane Wyman no longer lived at the White House but Nancy Reagan did. My mom had to explain that one to me.

Hope you have a great day DFF, take care.
Thank you! My day was a challenge to say the least but I survived. I hope you had a good day as well!

Everyone have a great Friday!!

back in my day.” Oh no, I hate saying that! I told myself I’d never, ever use that expression but here we are.
There's loads of sayings I vowed I'd never say, but I do! And I always try not to sound like my mum or say her sayings, but I do.
I try to avoid "trendy" sayings too, "We are where we are" and
"It is what it is" seem fashionable at the moment.

Finding enough time in life isn’t always easy but this time I’m trying my hardest to do something with it.
It can be tricky sometimes to find the time for things we enjoy. I hope you do manage to pursue it.
I hope to take up reading again which I used to love, but I find it hard to concentrate and retain what's happened. Perhaps I'll start by reading little bits and read them again until I know what I've been reading about.

My thing was taking my Star Wars action figures and using them as professional wrestlers to choreograph fights.
Sounds fun! Are you still into Star Wars? My 15 year old son is a massive fan. It's quite a recent thing for him.

We went to an exhibition in London last weekend which showed over 600 different pieces and it was made by fans for fans. He really enjoyed it. It amazes me the age range of fans, from kids younger than him to old folk. It's certainly got quite a following.

Over here, well, we call that Monday.

Did you ever have a difficult time convincing someone in person that it really was you since you sounded different?
That's happened occasionally and I've had to put on my telephone voice for them.
You'll have to try it out next time, see if you sound any different on the phone.

I tend to view them as a challenge though. I notice humor will lessen the bitterness a little in some cases. In the other cases I’ll just walk away muttering to myself.
Sounds like a great way to handle them.
I tend to carry on regardless. I've got a knack of being able to make ignorant/dismissive people talk and it makes me feel so good afterwards. That little sense of satisfaction of I won't be ignored, you will talk to me or acknowledge me.

So maybe I’m wrong,
Oh I'm often saying that "who's got it right, who's got it wrong?" But I know deep down I know it's better to be loyal and respectful like I am, nuts too I would imagine!

Oh, you gotta get on the Dynasty threads. If you posted this over there I’d die laughing!
Oh imagine if I did. I've posted on there tonight about a Joan Colllins interview, so you never know I might do!

I didn’t understand why Jane Wyman no longer lived at the White House but Nancy Reagan did.
Oh that's funny! I remember my Dad telling me about Jane Wyman. I thought it was quite something to have a President's former wife on a soap. I was rather envious of Falcon Crest and her for that.

My day was a challenge to say the least but I survived.
I hope you're over your challenging day and ready to face the next one!
Hope you have a lovely weekend, take care.

There's loads of sayings I vowed I'd never say, but I do! And I always try not to sound like my mum or say her sayings, but I do.
I notice I’m sounding more and more like the people that raised me as I get older and it is quite frightening. I’d laugh at them and all the things they’d say but now I wonder who’s laughing at who.

"It is what it is" seem fashionable at the moment.
I use this one a lot. I do like it but I notice I tend to overuse it sometimes.

I hope to take up reading again which I used to love, but I find it hard to concentrate and retain what's happened.
I used to be such an avid reader but that’s changed for some reason. I’m always reading online of course but it’s been awhile since I’ve read a book. I’m actually staring at four books I’ve owned for quite a few years now that I still haven’t read. Do you like to read any particular type of books?

I tend to have issues concentrating sometimes also. Maybe that’s why I’m staring at four unread books at the moment.

Are you still into Star Wars? My 15 year old son is a massive fan. It's quite a recent thing for him.
I guess I’ll always be a fan. It doesn’t really appeal to me as much as when I was a younger but I think it’s great that they ended up releasing three more movies in the last decade. It gives your son and a whole new generation a chance to experience it.

We went to an exhibition in London last weekend which showed over 600 different pieces and it was made by fans for fans. He really enjoyed it. It amazes me the age range of fans, from kids younger than him to old folk. It's certainly got quite a following.
That sounds awesome! I’ve been to a few of those here and it always amazes me how that franchise appeals to all ages. If you told me back in 1983, after they made the last movie of the original trilogy, that they’d still be making Star Wars movies in the year 2019 I would’ve said you were nuts.

I’ll never forget seeing these last three movies in the theatre and there were people ranging from 5 to probably 75.

That's happened occasionally and I've had to put on my telephone voice for them.
You'll have to try it out next time, see if you sound any different on the phone.
This did make me curious so I did a little asking around to see if I sound different to anyone in person than I do on the phone and the consensus was they have no clue what I’m talking about.

The answers ranged from “You sound like the same idiot on the phone that I have to deal with in person” to “What’s the difference? You’re annoying either way.”

And then there was my personal favorite, “You know, there is help for such an overactive brain as yours DFF!”

It can be tricky sometimes to find the time for things we enjoy. I hope you do manage to pursue it.
Thank you! I seem to be very excited about it this time and I’m sticking with it. During the week it’s difficult to find the time but the weekend seems to be my time to get some writing in.

Sounds like a great way to handle them.
I tend to carry on regardless. I've got a knack of being able to make ignorant/dismissive people talk and it makes me feel so good afterwards. That little sense of satisfaction of I won't be ignored, you will talk to me or acknowledge me.
I like this! I get most of my practice in at work. I don’t know why but I work with some of the most miserable people I’ve ever met, so my mission every day when I arrive is making them all laugh. I will take their worst negativity and turn it into a joke. I will hound them with sarcasm and make their lives a living (heck) until they crack up. It does work. I’ll even get personal with the ones I know a long time. I’ll call them ugly and tell them they have no personality, whatever I have to to get a smile. And of course they’ll come right back at me and get personal, which is what I wanted all along, and the next thing you know we’re all laughing. Luckily the bosses will cut me some slack with this and let me run with it cause they know I’m really harmless and just trying to bring up morale.

Oh I'm often saying that "who's got it right, who's got it wrong?" But I know deep down I know it's better to be loyal and respectful like I am, nuts too I would imagine!
LOL!! You’re not nuts. Okay, we’re all a little nuts here, and that’s fine.

But I totally agree. I’d rather be loyal and respectful over just about anything else I can think of. There’s no shame in being nice, even too nice. I’ll take it over the alternative.

Oh imagine if I did. I've posted on there tonight about a Joan Colllins interview, so you never know I might do!
Yes, I checked out what you posted. Joan has always been quite the character. I think she still is playing the part of Alexis sometimes and that’s kind of what I love about her. Joan WAS Dynasty. I just wish that show was remembered more fondly.

Oh that's funny! I remember my Dad telling me about Jane Wyman. I thought it was quite something to have a President's former wife on a soap. I was rather envious of Falcon Crest and her for that.
That’s what I couldn’t get. I was so young and naive that I just didn’t understand how a president could be divorced and then remarry.

I remember asking, “Is that allowed?” I kept waiting for Ronald Reagan to show up on Falcon Crest for a cameo.

Hope you have a lovely weekend, take care.

I’d laugh at them and all the things they’d say but now I wonder who’s laughing at who.
Oh yes, definitely agree with that. I'm sure in our heads we've all pulled faces at what our elders said, now we're saying the same!
Funny how things run full circle. That's life I guess.

I use this one a lot. I do like it but I notice I tend to overuse it sometimes.
I'm also noticing "moving forward" is trending at the moment especially in the work place and environments like schools. I think I would've said "in the future" which is obviously the same meaning. I like mine better!
It's fascinating how language evolves. How words have many meanings and some words are no longer allowed.
I get that, but don't like being "blamed" for words we used to use. These words were everyday language then as words we use today will one day be frowned upon.

Do you like to read any particular type of books?
I enjoy autobiographies of famous people (not just Dallas stars) and a good crime, detective book. I also enjoy stories with a bit of supernatural. Has to be believable though and not any gory nonsense. How about you? I'm intrigued as to what those four unread books are!

“You sound like the same idiot on the phone that I have to deal with in person”
Ha ha! I don't believe that for a second.
My posh voice comes from hearing myself on tape recordings in the past or things like family wedding videos.
I would cringe when I heard my voice and it shattered all my illusions of how I thought I sounded.

I seem to be very excited about it this time and I’m sticking with it.
Good for you! Hopefully your new found excitement will spur you on.
With today's lives being so busy it's a wonder we get anything done for leisure.

I don’t know why but I work with some of the most miserable people I’ve ever met, so my mission every day when I arrive is making them all laugh.
That's great! Banter can be really enjoyable when done with respect. Sounds as though you've got the balance just right. I bet being at your workplace for 25 years means you know who you can and can't be sarcastic with and it's great that your bosses allow it to boost morale. Everyone needs a positive morale booster in the workplace.
I'm intrigued why your colleagues are miserable, is it the job or just coincidence?

The Dallas threads seem to be going quiet at times now. I guess so many people are just too busy. I read back on past threads and would've loved to have been part of it, don't get me wrong I love being on here now, but a few years ago it was buzzing with such diverse posters, many of whom no longer post.
As I've said over there before it's up to us to keep it going, but it's hard thinking up new and fresh ideas for threads.

Well I hope you've had a good start to the week DFF and keeping well especially in the heat.

We're expecting a mini heatwave here over the weekend into next week which will be lovely and quite unusual for this time of year.

Funny how things run full circle. That's life I guess.
I’m quite often amazed at this myself. Life can be very symmetrical at times. Right now I’m watching my favorite nephew grow up and it’s quite alarming how much he is like I was at his age. Maybe that’s good in a way though cause it means he can never fool me if he tries.

I'm also noticing "moving forward" is trending at the moment especially in the work place and environments like schools. I think I would've said "in the future" which is obviously the same meaning
I’m a little tired of “moving forward” also. I don’t mind “moving on” or “in the future” though. However “in the future” can be a little scary for me because it usually means I’ve done something wrong.

It's fascinating how language evolves. How words have many meanings and some words are no longer allowed.
I get that, but don't like being "blamed" for words we used to use. These words were everyday language then as words we use today will one day be frowned upon.
I struggle with certain words no longer being allowed. I mean I never want to offend anyone so I get it, but it does get a little confusing sometimes.

I enjoy autobiographies of famous people (not just Dallas stars) and a good crime, detective book. I also enjoy stories with a bit of supernatural. Has to be believable though and not any gory nonsense. How about you?
Like you I enjoy autobiographies and true crimes. Those are at the top of my list I’d say. I also enjoy reading about history.

I'm intrigued as to what those four unread books are!
They’re all sports books LOL!! Can you believe that?

One is called The Love of Baseball, which is odd because I think I’m the only person that still loves it sometimes. It was a gift and I’ve never read it yet. Next to that is a baseball statistics book. Do you see a trend here? Also a gift and unread so far.

The other two are books on American Football, definitely my second favorite sport. One of them I think I bought myself.

My posh voice comes from hearing myself on tape recordings in the past or things like family wedding videos.
I would cringe when I heard my voice and it shattered all my illusions of how I thought I sounded
I hate hearing my own voice. To be honest it doesn’t even sound like me, or at least I thought. Everyone else says it’s the same exact voice so I guess I’m wrong.

With today's lives being so busy it's a wonder we get anything done for leisure.
I think it’s all about balance but that’s more often easier said than done. It seems like work takes up so much of our time that it really doesn’t leave enough hours for everything else.

I'm intrigued why your colleagues are miserable, is it the job or just coincidence?
I think it’s me.
No, all kidding aside, I’m really not even sure. My guess would be it’s a very physical job and it can get a little tiresome at times. It’s not for everyone. I notice it’s a “glamour job” for a lot of people, until they get here.

It has been a little quiet over there lately. I notice it will do that every once in awhile but then it explodes again. It’s hard to keep coming up with new discussions. I think we’ve touched on it all and it tends to get repetitive, but I’ll always keep joining in. That’s why I think humor is important over there. I take my Dallas seriously but the more lighthearted we make it at this point the more enjoyable it is for everyone. Here we are discussing a show that went off the air 32 years ago and having disagreements on what they got right and wrong. We must look like a bunch of idiots but personally I never get tired of it.

Well I hope you've had a good start to the week DFF and keeping well especially in the heat.

We're expecting a mini heatwave here over the weekend into next week which will be lovely and quite unusual for this time of year.
Thank you! It’s cooled off a trifle but definitely not enough. That’s why I don’t mind the Christmas decorations already being up in the stores. I look at that fake snow on the trees and it automatically makes me feel a little cooler.

I didn’t realize you could get a mini heatwave over there this time of year. I hope it’s a nice change! The words “mini” and “heatwave” will never be said in the same sentence over here, trust me!

Enjoy your Tuesday my friend, and the same goes for everyone else reading this!

I've got a niece who's more like me than any of my children are. We have quite a special bond.
I like that, your nephew won't be able to fool you! Don't you be too sure though!

However “in the future” can be a little scary for me because it usually means I’ve done something wrong.
I hadn't thought of it like that, but you're right. How it's said and context can make all the difference.
Completely changing the subject, your sentence "done something wrong" reminded me of being naughty as a child and getting called my full name by my mum when she told me off. It's a wonder I didn't get a complex about using my full name and associating it with being naughty, which I'm ashamed to say I was quite often.

I mean I never want to offend anyone
Unfortunately in todays world that's getting harder not to do.

I enjoy autobiographies and true crimes. Those are at the top of my list I’d say. I also enjoy reading about history.
My favourite ones I have are Helen Mirren and Anne Robinson. (Apart from Larry & Linda's from Dallas obvs)

I loved Helen Mirren in Prime Suspect, did you get that over there? One of my favourite cop shows. I'm still fanatical about them now.

Anne Robinson is a TV presenter over here. She started as a journalist then became known as the Queen of mean due to her treatment of contestants on a quiz show called the weakest link.
I love her style of writing, you can tell she was a journalist. She was also an alcoholic and her story is fascinating.
She's not too popular with a lot of people, but I've always been very fond of her particularly after reading her book.

I like certain History and I'm very interested when I visit history rich places, but I need it to visual. Visiting Austria in the 80s was amazing. I saw where the "sound of music" film was shot and also visited a former concentration camp which was very difficult to witness.

but the more lighthearted we make it at this point the more enjoyable it is for everyone.
Yes I think the majority enjoy it when it's lighthearted. I hope those that don't can somehow appreciate it.

We must look like a bunch of idiots but personally I never get tired of it.
That made me laugh. I do love how I can openly discuss Dallas on here and not feel embarrassed by being a fan as I felt in my youth.
I can't imagine ever getting tired of it, it'll be a dark day when I do.

The words “mini” and “heatwave” will never be said in the same sentence over here,
I can imagine. I'm looking forward to our mini heatwave, definitely used a lot in the same sentence here, but not often enough. I hope those weather people are correct as I dig out my last few bits of summer clothes to wear or I'll be looking a right idiot.

Well happy Friday DFF, take care. Here's hoping you have a great weekend.

Same to everyone else here too!

I've got a niece who's more like me than any of my children are. We have quite a special bond.
That’s nice to hear, and I know exactly what you mean. Having never had my own, my poor niece and nephew unfortunately have no choice but to share the brunt of my focus. They are my two favorite people. They both drive me nuts but not sure what I’d do without them in my life.

I like that, your nephew won't be able to fool you! Don't you be too sure though!
Let’s face it, you’re probably right. He does like to try, I’ll give him that. Loves testing me, as I’m sure you can relate.

your sentence "done something wrong" reminded me of being naughty as a child and getting called my full name by my mum when she told me off. It's a wonder I didn't get a complex about using my full name and associating it with being naughty, which I'm ashamed to say I was quite often.
I love this!

Let’s see, when I was naughty I was either “Louie,” “Charlie “ or “Harry.” I can honestly tell you that none of those are even remotely close to my first name so I’m not sure why she chose them and I never did get an answer when I asked. All I know is when I heard one of those names directed towards me growing up I knew I was a dead man.

Moron, idiot, schmuck, wacko, nut job and imbecile were also highly common for me to hear.

Unfortunately in todays world that's getting harder not to do.
Yes, don’t I know! I really don’t offend easily at all yet I notice I am walking on eggshells rather often these days.

My favourite ones I have are Helen Mirren and Anne Robinson. (Apart from Larry & Linda's from Dallas obvs)
I haven’t read Helen’s or Anne’s yet but I have read Larry and Linda’s of course, both of which I really enjoyed.

I loved Helen Mirren in Prime Suspect, did you get that over there? One of my favourite cop shows. I'm still fanatical about them now.
I think we got Prime Suspect over here, as it does sound familiar, but I haven’t seen it. From everything I’ve ever seen her do over the years I’m sure she was great in this as well.

Anne Robinson is a TV presenter over here. She started as a journalist then became known as the Queen of mean due to her treatment of contestants on a quiz show called the weakest link.
I love her style of writing, you can tell she was a journalist. She was also an alcoholic and her story is fascinating.
She's not too popular with a lot of people, but I've always been very fond of her particularly after reading her book
I’m finding as I get older that a lot of people aren’t quite what we often perceive them to be. There are reasons for everything and everyone has their story for why they are the way they are sometimes.

I’m not making excuses for anyone here but I have the upmost respect for anyone that has battled alcoholism and is somehow winning that battle. She may not be too popular but I commend her for opening up about her struggles and it is indeed a success story, popular or not.

I like certain History and I'm very interested when I visit history rich places,
I feel the same way. I once visited Gettysburg some years back and I wasn’t sure if that would be something I would enjoy. I love history but touring the battlefields from the Civil War wasn’t exactly my cup of tea, or so I thought. Once I got there it was a much different story. I loved it! Definitely one of the best historic trips I’ve ever taken.

Visiting Austria in the 80s was amazing. I saw where the "sound of music" film was shot
Never been to Austria but this does sound amazing! Seems like such a beautiful place to see.

a former concentration camp which was very difficult to witness.
Not sure how I would feel about seeing this to be honest. On one hand I love historical places so for that purpose I’d want to see it yet I have a feeling it would make me very uncomfortable, considering what had happened there. I can definitely understand what you’re saying here.

That made me laugh. I do love how I can openly discuss Dallas on here and not feel embarrassed by being a fan as I felt in my youth.
I can't imagine ever getting tired of it, it'll be a dark day when I do.
It seems the Dallas threads have picked up again. I have to say you’ve done a great job of keeping them going since your arrival. Dallas was the reason I joined, never expecting to find all of this other stuff we have on this site.

I can imagine. I'm looking forward to our mini heatwave, definitely used a lot in the same sentence here, but not often enough. I hope those weather people are correct as I dig out my last few bits of summer clothes to wear or I'll be looking a right idiot.
Is a heatwave unusual over there this time of year? It does seem kind of late for it I was thinking.

In just a few weeks our temps will start dropping into the dreaded 60s and all of the Floridians will be very unhappy. Mind you these are the same people that are complaining right now about it still being 90.

Well happy Friday DFF, take care. Here's hoping you have a great weekend.
Happy Friday LML! I guess we made it through another week thankfully.

You take care as well and have a great weekend!!

Everyone else please have a great weekend as well!!

They are my two favorite people. They both drive me nuts but not sure what I’d do without them in my life.
I hope they know how lucky they are, I'm sure they will one day. In todays world of families that are often spread out or just not close it's refreshing to hear of special bonds.

Loves testing me, as I’m sure you can relate.
Oh yes, youngsters testing boundaries and testing us, absolutely can relate, but as we've said before it's only mirroring how we were, just history repeating itself.

I know I've hit a certain time in my life when I say that, makes me sound so old.
I never used to be able to relate to my parents when they said you still feel young inside. Then I catch a glance of myself in a window or something and just don't recognise who it is. Pretty scary really where time goes and the image I see of me!

Moron, idiot, schmuck, wacko, nut job and imbecile were also highly common for me to hear.
Ha ha!
As well as bring called my whole name, I was often referred to as my brother and sisters first although in no particular order, still do now. I've done/do that with my own children too, it's official, I really am turning into my mum.

I am walking on eggshells rather often these days.
I'm extremely conscious of words I use now, which I guess isn't a bad thing, but that second guessing of everything I want say drives me nuts and asking myself is that appropriate anymore? I know it is really because I'm a professional. I appear a lot slower when talking too, that's NOT my age I tell myself!

but I have read Larry and Linda’s of course, both of which I really enjoyed.
I just wish there was a bit more in both books, but I still read them often and really enjoy them.

I feel Anne Robinson's book is so honest and open and so well written.

I think we got Prime Suspect over here, as it does sound familiar, but I haven’t seen it.
I was obsessed with Prime suspect. The first one aired in 1991 and for me probably replaced Dallas for a current obsession for me to have. I recorded it on VHS and wore that tape out with the amount of times I watched it.
I've still got them all now saved on my sky recordings as well as the DVDs.
Not that anything could ever replace Dallas, but I'd always loved cop shows and it was great that we'd managed to create something so good here.
Lynda La Plante is a fabulous writer and also created Widows which was another fantastic series.

I've got so much admiration for writers/producers and also love the works of Jimmy Mcgovern and Jed Mucurio who's recent work was Line Of Duty, do you know it?

Since joining this forum I realise what a telly addict I am and always have been. I would love to start a thread about these shows, but they've probably been done and I haven't quite got the confidence, but I am starting to join in with other boards now (is that the correct term? I haven't a clue!)

Once I got there it was a much different story. I loved it! Definitely one of the best historic trips I’ve ever taken.
How interesting that you loved it once you got there. Very historical. I like to think I can always manage to find some enjoyment or appreciation from anything no matter how I imagined I couldn't.

Not sure how I would feel about seeing this to be honest.
I was only 18 at the time and had longed to visit Austria because of The Sound Of Music and that trip was included in the itinerary.
Visiting the concentration camp certainly left an impression on my young mind. However dark these parts of history are, I think it's still important to learn about them. It was very uncomfortable to see though.

Is a heatwave unusual over there this time of year? It does seem kind of late for it I was thinking.
Very unusual. The mornings start of dull and dreary before the sun creeps through for a lovely day. I don't think it's widespread and it's meant to change over the next few days and make way for more normal temperatures so I'm making the most of it. Cold, damp days and early dark nights will replace those recent sunny days.
I do love the winter though.

Well, we're never content with the weather are we? In these days of everyone constantly on their mobile phones, it's good to still hear the chit chat on the bus about the weather.

Here's hoping you've had a good start to the week DFF, take care my friend and Happy Tuesday!

Thank you for saying that! It is kind of sad how family keeps moving around these days and quite often grows apart. I have family all over the U.S. and quite honestly I think I’ve lost track of some of them and where they even are at this point. That makes me a little sad sometimes but I guess it’s part of life.

Oh yes, youngsters testing boundaries and testing us, absolutely can relate, but as we've said before it's only mirroring how we were, just history repeating itself.
I do wonder sometimes if there is a curse that goes from generation to generation and now it’s our turn to pay LOL!!

I never used to be able to relate to my parents when they said you still feel young inside.
I’d rather look young outside. Inside no one sees and only I know what’s in there anyway so who cares?

But all kidding aside, I do see what they meant now. It really is about how we feel inside, and I’ve had my fair share of physical challenges over the years so to be able to say I feel pretty good now and am as healthy as I can be is enough for me.

Then I catch a glance of myself in a window or something and just don't recognise who it is. Pretty scary really where time goes and the image I see of me!
Oh, I think we’re all our own worst critic when it comes to that stuff. I know I am! I will see myself on camera somewhere or in a video someone else took and feel extremely uncomfortable, but I notice that’s mostly everyone.

As well as bring called my whole name, I was often referred to as my brother and sisters first although in no particular order, still do now. I've done/do that with my own children too, it's official, I really am turning into my mum.
Too funny!
For some reason I love when someone calls me by my entire first and last name. Even though it usually means I’m probably in trouble it does make me feel important. If you’re about to get yelled at, why not get yelled at in style?

I'm extremely conscious of words I use now, which I guess isn't a bad thing, but that second guessing of everything I want say drives me nuts and asking myself is that appropriate anymore?
I struggle with this as well. Sometimes it’s on the tip of my tongue but I have to clear it with the mind filter first. Let’s face it, we really didn’t have to use that button as much years ago so it can be challenging.

Luckily I have a human filter at work. I have a coworker that I will run stuff by and she will give me either the thumbs up or thumbs down. The reactions will usually range from “That’s a great one and it’s fine to still say that one I think” to “Do us both a favor DFF and don’t let that one ever see the light of day cause we both need jobs.”

So either way I do listen.

I appear a lot slower when talking too, that's NOT my age I tell myself!
HA!! No, it’s called caution and fear cause we’re so afraid of offending someone. But that’s a good thing. No one should ever feel like they’ve been offended.

I feel Anne Robinson's book is so honest and open and so well written.
It’s definitely something I would read. I love a good comeback story and reading about people that had to pull themselves back up from the depths. I admire anyone that has beaten their demons, and even if they haven’t and are still battling them. I really respect openness and honesty when it comes to our mistakes.

I was obsessed with Prime suspect. The first one aired in 1991 and for me probably replaced Dallas for a current obsession for me to have
Well it must be great if it rivals Dallas for you cause I think I know how you feel when it comes to that show!

Not that anything could ever replace Dallas, but I'd always loved cop shows and it was great that we'd managed to create something so good here.
I was always a fan of cop shows as well. I remember finding Hill Street Blues when I was a teenager and watching the reruns. I was hooked instantly. I wonder if we have any threads in the archives on any of these cop shows we’ve mentioned? I’m going to take a look.

I've got so much admiration for writers/producers and also love the works of Jimmy Mcgovern and Jed Mucurio who's recent work was Line Of Duty, do you know it?
Sounds familiar. I’m gonna have to look this one up though cause I’m drawing a blank. This happens with me a lot. I’m terrible with titles but then I check it out and realize I did indeed watch it.

Since joining this forum I realise what a telly addict I am and always have been.
There’s so much to discuss! I joined just for Dallas, not even realizing all this other stuff was here.

I would love to start a thread about these shows, but they've probably been done and I haven't quite got the confidence,
Starting a thread isn’t easy. I struggle with it as well so you’re not alone. Personally I think you’d do fine with it but if you’re not comfortable with it that’s fine!

There are threads going back on just about everything. We’ve covered almost everything you can think of and sometimes they do get duplicated or overlap but that’s fine too. We can’t remember everything we’ve posted. I know I don’t.

I don’t even remember waking up this morning but obviously I’m glad I did.

I am starting to join in with other boards now (is that the correct term? I haven't a clue!)
Yes, boards is fine I think. I notice you joining in more now with the other boards and I’m not surprised. You’re gaining confidence and you know what you’re talking about so posting more is going to become second nature to you soon.

I was terrified at first. I couldn’t join in much at all. I felt like everyone was smarter than me and I had nothing to say that anyone would even want to read. But then I realized that I was wrong. No one was smarter than me, I was just more stupid than everyone else.

(Just kidding)

Seriously though, the more you post the easier it will get. What helped me a lot was finding the games section, specifically two of the stalwarts over here in particular. They helped bring me out of my shell.

How interesting that you loved it once you got there. Very historical. I like to think I can always manage to find some enjoyment or appreciation from anything no matter how I imagined I couldn't.
Despite being someone that enjoys history, I was never really into the Civil War. That trip to Gettysburg kind of changed that for me. It gave me a whole new appreciation for it.

Well said! I agree, it’s all part of history, no matter how awful it was. There are so many things in history that I wish never happened, or perhaps we can go back and magically change some of it, but unfortunately that’s just wishful thinking.

When I lived in the northeastern part of the U.S. I didn’t want the summer to end. I hated the cold and dreary winters. Now that I live in Florida I can’t wait for winter. Not that it gets what I would call “cold” here but it does cool down considerably.

Well, we're never content with the weather are we? In these days of everyone constantly on their mobile phones, it's good to still hear the chit chat on the bus about the weather.
When I was younger I would say “why does everyone discuss the weather?” Now I understand why that is. We need more to complain about as we get older cause no one’s listening to us anymore.

Here's hoping you've had a good start to the week DFF, take care my friend and Happy Tuesday!

Wouldn't we all! I do get told often that I don't look my age, probably because I can behave like a big kid. Inside I'm probably about 105.

I’ve had my fair share of physical challenges over the years so to be able to say I feel pretty good now and am as healthy as I can be is enough for me.
Glad to hear you feel healthy now and hopefully you've overcome your physical challenges. Things like that can be tough to deal with. I feel as long as we've got our health that's more important than most things.

but I notice that’s mostly everyone.
Yes I agree, I think you need to be pretty confident to enjoy looking at yourself. They say youngersters have a tough time with regards to their looks because of social media, but the impression I get is that an awful lot of them love themselves. They film everything even themselves walking as well as all the selfies and posing they do. I could be wrong and I'm probably jealous that they can do that and look so good!

Well it must be great if it rivals Dallas for you cause I think I know how you feel when it comes to that show!
I can go on a bit about it can't I? I'm often reading all the old threads going back ages ago. So many good ones and I'm tempted to get them going again (think bump them up is the correct word) I do enjoy reading them though and there were so many posters then, not so many nowadays.

There were more Sue Ellen fans too, I feel a little in the minority now. At least that doesn't stop my opinions though as I'm sure you know.
Your knowledge of Dallas seems pretty widespread which is quite admirable.

I remember finding Hill Street Blues when I was a teenager and watching the reruns. I was hooked instantly.
Oh I used to love Hill Street Blues! Took me a while as I found it chaotic at first, but it was a brilliant series. I used to imitate "hey, now let's be careful out there". I really liked that old guy who used to say that, I think he died when it was still airing? The theme tune was pretty special too.

I was a proper mimic, still can be sometimes.

We used to have a female comedian that imitated Sue Ellen on TV in the 80s. There's a sketch of her on YouTube doing a Miss Ellie, Sue Ellen scene. I didn't find it funny of course! Well maybe a little bit now, but only a bit!

Sounds familiar.
Jimmy Mcgovern also did Cracker with the late great Robbie Coltrane. I have read a thread about that and the US version. Line Of Duty was amazing with a brilliant cast. Talk about cliffhangers, it was so good keeping us on the edge of our seats and guessing about the next instalment.

No one was smarter than me, I was just more stupid than everyone else.
I love that! In an endearing way.

They helped bring me out of my shell.
Aww that's so nice, I hope they know you appreciate them for that.

Not that it gets what I would call “cold” here but it does cool down considerably.
It's been about 55 f today so our mini heatwave was a very mini one. Certainly feeling more chilly now and it'll probably just get colder from now on. I feel very lucky to be able to have a warm house.

We need more to complain about as we get older cause no one’s listening to us anymore.
Ha ha that's funny. I agree about complaining, sometimes I think people are only content as long as they're moaning. I hope I never turn into that. But I think we discuss the weather to start conversations and fill in awkward quiet moments.

I love all of our Halloween names and the background colours.

Here's hoping you're keeping well DFF, and have a lovely weekend. Take care and Happy Saturday!

I get this a lot as well, which I’m fine with of course. Like you I can be a kid at times, but inside I feel 396 sometimes, not 105. That’s where we differ I guess.

Glad to hear you feel healthy now and hopefully you've overcome your physical challenges. Things like that can be tough to deal with. I feel as long as we've got our health that's more important than most things.
Thank you my friend! I think good health is everything. It’s something that so many of us can take for granted but I try not to anymore. I’m very thankful for even being here.

They say youngersters have a tough time with regards to their looks because of social media, but the impression I get is that an awful lot of them love themselves. They film everything even themselves walking as well as all the selfies and posing they do. I could be wrong and I'm probably jealous that they can do that and look so good!
My guess is it’s a little bit of both. It depends on the youngster. My niece is into all the selfies and the posing and all that jazz now. I do get a kick out of it when I’m sitting next to her and she lets me have a nosey at her phone. It’s a whole different world to me. She’s at “that age” now when her 14 year old self is so ready to just burst out and take off. The problem though is I’m not ready.

I can go on a bit about it can't I? I'm often reading all the old threads going back ages ago. So many good ones and I'm tempted to get them going again (think bump them up is the correct word) I do enjoy reading them though and there were so many posters then, not so many nowadays.
Well, you’re not the only one that can go on and on about Dallas, trust me! I think bumping up some of those threads is a great idea! It does seem like there are fewer posters over there now. I wonder why that is? Maybe some people feel we’ve discussed everything, the show is off the air 32 years and what’s left to talk about? I can understand that. Some of the threads can get a little repetitive but I feel we always find something new to talk about over there.

There were more Sue Ellen fans too, I feel a little in the minority now. At least that doesn't stop my opinions though as I'm sure you know.
I think there’s still plenty of Sue Ellen fans. She has her detractors too but overall I think she’s loved by most. I know you’re a huge fan of hers, and you’ve met Linda which I think is great! She seems so genuine and down to earth, which I always admire in such a huge star.

Your knowledge of Dallas seems pretty widespread which is quite admirable.
Thank you! Is it okay if I say my favourite female character was Pam LOL? I know she was far from perfect herself but I always respected her for all of the things she had to deal with.

Oh I used to love Hill Street Blues! Took me a while as I found it chaotic at first, but it was a brilliant series. I used to imitate "hey, now let's be careful out there". I forget his name now but yes, I believe you’re right and the actor that said that unfortunately died during the show. That show was iconic, and the theme song is something I’ll never be able to get out of my head. One of the very best openings to a show I think we’ve ever seen.

I was a proper mimic, still can be sometimes.
I love to mimic the people I work with. I can impersonate quite a few of them. Until they get mad of course. Then I’ll stop.

We used to have a female comedian that imitated Sue Ellen on TV in the 80s. There's a sketch of her on YouTube doing a Miss Ellie, Sue Ellen scene. I didn't find it funny of course! Well maybe a little bit now, but only a bit!
I can definitely see you not taking too kindly to someone imitating Sue Ellen! Do you recall which scene it was between her and Miss Ellie?

Jimmy Mcgovern also did Cracker with the late great Robbie Coltrane. I have read a thread about that and the US version. Line Of Duty was amazing with a brilliant cast. Talk about cliffhangers, it was so good keeping us on the edge of our seats and guessing about the next instalment.
I seem to recall a thread about this at some point. This site pretty much has a thread for everything. You’d be surprised what you will find back there in the archives sometimes if you look deep enough.

It's been about 55 f today so our mini heatwave was a very mini one. Certainly feeling more chilly now and it'll probably just get colder from now on. I feel very lucky to be able to have a warm house.
55? Wow!! That sounds so nice. Our high today is expected to be 94. We will start getting a little cooler in a few weeks though. It is kind of funny seeing the stores putting up the Christmas decorations here when it’s still so hot out. It’s kind of odd to be honest.

Aww that's so nice, I hope they know you appreciate them for that.
I hope @Michelle Stevens and @Long Lashes know how appreciative I am of them too. Without them there is no games section for us to enjoy.

Ha ha that's funny. I agree about complaining, sometimes I think people are only content as long as they're moaning. I hope I never turn into that. But I think we discuss the weather to start conversations and fill in awkward quiet moments
Being out with the public all day, I do hear my fair share. I will try to listen until I’ve had it. Believe it or not complaining about the weather down here is kind of rare. I think we’ve all become so accustomed to it.

I love all of our Halloween names and the background colours.
I gotta say that Let’s Mummify Lucy almost made me fall down! I still crack up almost every time I see it. How did you even come up with that? Obviously you wanted to use LML but I never would’ve thought of that one.

Here's hoping you're keeping well DFF, and have a lovely weekend. Take care and Happy Saturday!
Thank you, and you have a great weekend as well! I’m sure our paths will cross over on the Dallas threads at some point.

And everyone else here please have a great weekend as well!!

For some reason I’m always looking for a different way to say things compared to the norm. I don’t know, I guess it keeps things interesting. I
Yes yes yes brother. I do the same thing. I could say "hello how are you?" But what falls out of my cake hole is something like "yes brethren is your blue eyed dressed slinging crack rock or deep like Kola?"

They think that I am mad. Makes sense as Yazoo's Situation opens with "blue eyed dressed for every situation " and Kola is the deepest hole every drilled by humans, it is in Russia. Makes sense right.

Yes you're completely right it is so easy to mis-understand what someone is saying when its in the written word and thats one of the reasons I often use emojis .. I probably over-use them sometimes, I just love emojis :loony: .
Could not agree more. I find if punctuation is missing that is another tier of misunderstanding.

I understand that one's understanding of what is being said is also gleaned by the facial ques and the phonology and inflections of their words. As a logophile, I often notice that the recipient of what I'm saying not following my train of thought. But of course, I'm not one to grumble.

I can’t say I’ve tried this one. Definitely a different way to say “hello, are you?” I’m afraid I would need cue cards to remember all of that though.

I won’t stand for anyone calling you “mad” my friend. It does make me wonder what they say about me though.

I can't remember the song writer in question, but he said in an interview... "I read everything that comes my way. I'm looking for new words to me and interesting word combinations"

I've got a feeling that we are somewhere on that spectrum
