Never. Can’t stand it, although I do love peanut butter chocolate if that makes any sense at all LOL
Yes it does make sense :D are you partial to Reece's Cups?

. I couldn’t describe my emotions that week if I tried. I remember making my last delivery the day before surgery and sitting in front of this house crying for a few minutes, wondering if it was the last delivery I would ever make. I was also sitting there hoping they didn’t have any cameras catching me crying.
Oh heck, I think we all think the worse when something big is about to happen, so you are not alone with feeling this way my friend. I guess its highly emotional when something so scary is going to happen and its out of our hands, yet we know we still have to get through it, if this makes any sense?

And I remember later that day going to the hospital for the dreaded pre-op visit. That wasn’t fun, and as I’m walking all depressed back to my car I get a text from my arch nemesis at work, the girl who pranked me but somehow lived to tell about it. And she texts me just three words, the nicest three words in the English language that you can say to someone. So now I’m crying again like when I was in front of that last house and I texted her back that these three little words better not be another prank cause I’m really not in the mood for her games right now. Her response, although I can’t repeat it here, did a good job of convincing me she meant what she said. So it was a very emotional week.
It sounds to me like she chose the exact right time to let you know :)

The best part though was waking up in the hospital after it was all over and hearing that nurse punching her computer keys. That’s the first thing I remember hearing when I woke up. It’s such a normal sound but it’s become one of my favorites since then because it was the first thing I heard, followed by her telling me that it’s all over and I’m gonna be fine.
That's wonderful. I know this sounds daft, but don't you find it amazing that we can sleep right through a big operation? its so clever how the anaesthetic works and of course the skills of the surgeons, not forgetting the anesthetist who keeps us alive.

I can just imagine your huge relief to know you'd woken up and it was all sorted.

. I avoid meetings whenever possible for the most part, or I just stand way in the back so I will not get noticed. Hiding behind bigger people than me or women with a lot of hair also helps I notice.
Lol! .. With me it all depends on what mood I'm in and what subject is being discussed.

Usually I prefer to melt into the background, but if its something I have a strong opinion about then I will speak up. Although, in my experience most meetings tend to be mundane with the same vocal people doing all the talking. In my last job we had meetings for meetings, a lot of them were a huge waste of time.

Do you get a choice if to attend work meetings or are they mandatory?

I hope Biggie is doing well as we enter May. How is he doing? He should be okay if you are not having any freezing temps.
Do you know Michelle, he is amazing me :cool1 , he is still alive in May, this is incredible.

He's not looking pretty because he's a bit lopsided due to the time I accidently broke him, but he still has some festive red leaves and is busy growing lots of new green ones. I haven't put him outside yet because he seems so happy where he is. I will take a photo of him to show you soon, although he tends to be camera shy due to his earlier injury.

Oh and Tiny Tallulah is still sitting pretty on the window sill, happy as anything. I just wish I hadn't called her Tallulah because I always struggle to spell is correctly

treetie is now outside and will be pruned soon.
streetie050122.jpg

I took this image on Sunday, 1 May. She made it through with Winter. Princess and Duchess are soon to follow.
WOW! Streetie looks absolutely spectacular! :bravo1: my Biggie is nothing like this..Lol!

Thank you for letting us see Michelle, she's such a very special plant ... a survivor despite all the odds :) Streetie would be long gone by now if you hadn't planned and carried out your daring rescue mission. Its fab to see her again!

How are your other plants?
My Orchids are presently sleeping, unlike yours, so no spectacular blooms in the LL house, but I know they will cheer up again when they're ready.

It's those stories that get passed along that keep people alive. Hopefully when we are gone someone has stories to tell about us.
Very wise words my friend.

Here is little Flyleaf. I didn't know what colour her blooms would be but she let me know last week.
flyleaf043022.jpg

These mystery orchids are fun to watch. She was one of three I have bought from a lady in Indiana.
Aww she's gorgeous! her blooms are very unusual and beautiful :D what a nice surprise for you when she eventually bloomed. I do like her intricate colours, and it looks like she has more blooms ready to show themselves. She looks wonderful.

I'm embarrassed it's taken me so long to get back to this thread.
No need to be embarrassed , no never  We all reply when we feel like it and I love how we don't have to immediately reply if time is short or if we've got busy elsewhere on other threads.

Just as long as you and we all eventually return! :loony:

Did you plant any tomatoes this year?
No I haven't done so yet. I'm not sure if I'm going to this year as I'm busy sort of rearranging our garden, its quite a big project I've set myself.

Dare I ask? :hide: have you rescued any new plants recently Michelle?

I guess its highly emotional when something so scary is going to happen and its out of our hands, yet we know we still have to get through it, if this makes any sense?
It makes perfect sense! Fear can make us do crazy things, and our minds can definitely get the better of us sometimes.

That's wonderful. I know this sounds daft, but don't you find it amazing that we can sleep right through a big operation?
It is quite amazing. I probably slept more during that operation than I did the previous 5 nights.

its so clever how the anaesthetic works and of course the skills of the surgeons, not forgetting the anesthetist who keeps us alive.
I gained a whole new appreciation for how that all works. I also gained a whole new appreciation for how much little girls must love their Barbie dolls because after the surgery I went to stay with my family for a few days, and I remember going to sleep for about 7 hours straight after I arrived. But when I woke up I was in my nieces room and I remember seeing about a hundred Barbie dolls all around the room. Well, I wasn’t in the best mood and I had some pain meds in me too and these dolls all staring at me was kind of bothering me so I took one and threw it across the room. Well that felt pretty good so I threw another one. And then another one. It was starting to feel like real nice therapy so I kept going. But then I heard some stomping coming up the stairs and it was getting louder as it got closer and pretty soon a very angry 10 year old girl was standing in the doorway with her hands on her hips. Of course I denied knowing how the dolls got there right in the middle of the floor. I just said they were there when I got here.

I can just imagine your huge relief to know you'd woken up and it was all sorted.
Yes! All humor aside, it was a huge relief. And that was on October 25th that year. And when I woke up on October 26th it hit me that it was the anniversary of my mother’s death. I laid there for a few minutes wondering if that was supposed to mean something. Her gone, me still here, alive and well. Her death anniversary, but now my anniversary for being thankful for being alive. It makes you think!

Lol! .. With me it all depends on what mood I'm in and what subject is being discussed
I agree. I go to most meetings so I at least know what’s going on but sometimes I don’t go if I feel it’s not necessary. That’s when I’ll go to my truck and login to Telly Talk until they’re done. The meetings are mandatory but they really can’t keep track of all 200 of us.

Although, in my experience most meetings tend to be mundane with the same vocal people doing all the talking
Same people every time, and with the same questions. “Are we getting a raise this year?” “Why don’t we have food in these meetings?” “Can I go home early today?” “I have too many stops, can I get help?” And my all time personal favorite that gets asked every meeting without fail, “Will we ever get bathrooms in these trucks?”

Have a good week Lashes and the same goes for everyone else on this thread!

Indeed, an update image would be nice to see. New green leaves is a good sign. He must be happy.

Streetie will soon get her first pruning under my care. I want her to grow strong with new branches if she is ready. Indeed, she would have never lived past October 2020 if I didn't take action. She is a special plant.

My Orchids are presently sleeping, unlike yours, so no spectacular blooms in the LL house, but I know they will cheer up again when they're ready.

They need their rest. I had some that didn't bloom this year. As long as they are healthy I'm fine.

BTW, my orchid Bunny, # 27, who was a blue dyed orchid bloomed yesterday with a natural white bloom. My first rebloom from a blue orchid.

Aww she's gorgeous! her blooms are very unusual and beautiful :D what a nice surprise for you when she eventually bloomed. I do like her intricate colours, and it looks like she has more blooms ready to show themselves. She looks wonderful.

These mystery orchids are fun to see. I have one or two others that I'm not sure of what colour they are. I'm assume white though.

How is your garden coming along if I may ask? BTW, how is Barney?

Dare I ask? :hide: have you rescued any new plants recently Michelle?

Yes! :embarrassed: I'm nearing my limit on orchids. I have received several over the past few months from the grocery store lady. Most has wilted from lack of water but most revived after a watering. I'll have to share a photo of my newest soon. I am at the point I have to just take in the ones that have lost their entire flowers and are destined for the trash bin .. or I find a larger place to keep them. I hate seeing them lose their lived because no one would buy them.

BTW, I did give one orchid to my Mother for Mother's Day last week. It was a rescue I had for about a month that had lost some blooms but still kept others.

All the talk about flowers reminds me of...

Coming into land at Schiphol Airport circa 2007 and looking out the window there was a most spectacular sight. An industrial flower cultivation area is the best I can describe it, a patchwork of blooms of more colours than the mind can imagine. Absolutely breathtaking.

I feel I never appreciated flowers and plants and those kinds of things very much until recent years. Two things changed that for me I guess. Firstly, working outside all day eventually forced me to take notice. It’s amazing what you learn when you slow down long enough to actually observe your surroundings and the environment.

And secondly, reading this thread and the pride I see two people in particular taking in their flowers, plants, gardens, etc. Neither one of them may know what they’re talking about on the Last Post thread but they do know their stuff when it comes to this thread anyway.

(Just kidding, just kidding)

I absolutely agree with your comments. I've had to chart a course through choppy waters as I navigate. Some occasions external forces created the tempest. I'm also responsible for causing the ripple that in time became a crashing wave (to quote UNKLE) on a number of occasions.

I really do believe that by standing by my mistakes and learning what I can from the tempests that find me made me....me.

Now the question rises to whom will you show your allegiance to? The hotness army of Michelle or the usurper army of 'Lashes?

Yes, I think I've got used to the Orchids doing this too. I do wonder though? if any other Orchid owners think their plant has died when all they're doing is having a rest :yikey:

One of my two has now started growing new buds again, so it looks like I will have some blooms to report on here about soon.

BTW, my orchid Bunny, # 27, who was a blue dyed orchid bloomed yesterday with a natural white bloom. My first rebloom from a blue orchid.
Ooo that's very interesting. I often wondered what the real colour would be, I'm sure your Bunny is happier being au naturel instead of a fake colour :gotcha:

Barney is another one who has slowed down, thank you for asking. He is still full of bounce but tires far more than he used to do, I think he forgets he's no longer a puppy with endless energy. As for the garden? oh my goodness I've set myself a massive task at trying to move things around, I think I've taken on more than I can chew, it seemed like a good idea at the start .

Yes! :embarrassed: I'm nearing my limit on orchids. I have received several over the past few months from the grocery store lady. Most has wilted from lack of water but most revived after a watering.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean because I get this quite often. Right now it’s Almond Joy. I can’t pass a register in the supermarket without buying one. It’s become a running joke amongst the cashiers. One of them stopped ringing me up the other day and stared at me. I asked her what’s wrong and she goes didn’t you forget your Almond Joy? I said oh yeah, you’re right! I do hope no one tries to steal one right now cause I know my picture will be posted in every supermarket in the county before sunrise.

Okay, so I’m reading some concern here that we’ve slowed down on this thread. Let’s see..........................

Post #1 was on September12, 2016. That’s before DFF was born but I was lurking. Now this is post #4883 and that took about 5 years and 8 months roughly so at this pace we would hit the magical post of 10,000 sometime in late 2028, is that right? But I have a feeling that once we get to 5,000 that the second half will go much faster.

So, we’re 117 posts away from the halfway point. I notice I’m starting my sentences with “So” again and I always say how much I hate that. I won’t correct it though cause obviously that’s who I am. But I digress.

Regardless of DFF’s grammatical errors, I think we should set a goal for the 5,000 mark and then take it from there. 5,000 by July 15 maybe? Is it doable?

Comments? Concerns? Opinions? A straight jacket for DFF perhaps?
