Hi DFF how are you? :)
I’m doing okay Lashes. I had a very nice holiday weekend. I threw the diet out the window for a couple of days and I’m glad I did. I hope you enjoyed the weekend as well?

Yes it was a very scary time, very weird too, I still can't believe we all went through that, it was like living in a science fiction movie .. well it was to me. Everything felt wrong, unreal and as you say scary.
It’s something we’re never going to forget, let’s face it. I think comparing it to a science fiction movie is about the best comparison I’ve heard cause that’s what it felt like.

No I didn't give you a choice and you made me laugh out loud by saying in another thread how I tried to murder you by pushing you off a cliff :lmao: ...
Oh good! I’m glad you enjoyed that one. I almost died laughing myself when you pushed me off that cliff. That was hilarious!! I really appreciate that kind of humor. Or perhaps it wasn’t humor and you just wanted your crown back but I still laughed nonetheless.

and I have to say that was also a very lovely post from you.
Thank you for saying that my friend! I meant every word of it. I don’t care if my posts count or don’t count or if my name never makes the list. I just love being here. It’s fun and I honestly never get tired of it.

I'm busy working on this  my aim is to get the thread over to page three ..Lol!
Ironic, isn’t it Lashes? You push me off a cliff to my death yet here I am helping you bury the thread so you can keep your crown. I guess one can never say DFF isn’t gracious.

That car with the Spider was my first car, it was a pile of junk really  but to me back then I couldn't have loved it more.,
There’s always a special feeling for that first car. Mine was a pile of useless metal that everyone else would laugh at but I didn’t care.

I found it an adventure to drive that car during the winter ... although it was more of a challenge with all the windows misted over and I always wore a big coat and scarf to try and keep warm
Obviously you loved this car very much! I bet you couldn’t wait for the summer months LOL!!

When I'd finished with it and moved onto a better car I sold it for scrap and got back what I actually paid for it..Lol!
Now, did the second car make you forget all about the first one once you got in it? I’m hoping this one had heat?

This all reminds me of my first car. It was a 1983 Chrysler Lebaron. I bought it in 1991 from my grandparents. It was electric blue with red and green stripes and it had my initials on the side. It was, well, it was pretty ugly to be honest but I didn’t care. I was 16 and I finally had a car. That was all that mattered. I had that car about 6 years. Eventually the floor rotted out on the drivers side and I noticed one day I could see the street underneath my feet as I’m driving. This should’ve been a pretty good indication that it was time for a new car. But I kept driving it. Everyone was telling me to get rid of it. “You have no floor,” they would say. Picture the Flinstones with their feet hanging out the bottom of the car and you get the idea. Rain was a challenge, but I was young and stubborn and I just kept driving it until one day I had finally had enough.

My second car had a floor, and that was a nice feature. I embraced the new car but I missed my junk box. I think about that car a lot and how I should’ve gotten rid of it sooner but I just couldn’t do it. It meant too much to me, lack of a floor and all. It was my first car, so I can relate to how you felt about your igloo, oops, I mean first car.

Would you like to be coach? or does this not appeal?
Oh, it appeals, it appeals. Look, at this point I have to accept the fact that playing professionally probably isn’t going to happen LOL, so yes I would go into coaching if the opportunity ever presented itself. Of course, nothing is guaranteed and I can’t expect my nephew to hire just anyone off the street when there are people working in those organizations already that are waiting years for a chance at those jobs. Watching him get into sports the way he is right now at such a young age and living out his dream is good enough for me. It makes me realize that my dream isn’t dead. It’s just living through him now. Maybe that’s the way it was supposed to go all along, who knows?

That's so true and devastating they do have to re-start their lives, it must be heartbreaking to lose your own home and have to start from scratch again. I would imagine they might feel fortunate not to have died like so many, but at the same time they have lost so much.
Unfortunately I’ve seen this happen way too many times over here. And here we are again, about to go right back into hurricane season. I would imagine that losing your home and losing everything with it has to be the next worst thing to dying in a storm. Like you say, it’s gotta make you feel lucky to have survived a natural disaster but losing everything you owned and starting over has got to be a lonely feeling.

. Perhaps the two people who were not worried are like me and have never experienced a tornado and didn't fully understand what damage they can do?
To tell you the truth I didn’t stick around long enough to find out what they understood. As quickly as those two tornadoes turned around and left so did DFF

DFF I have a daft question for you ... if I may  ...
Of course you may!

my latest thing is herbal tea, do you drink it or have ever tried it? I've been trying to cut down on my caffeine intake
I haven’t had it in awhile but I do like it. I love tea in general, and pretty much any kind. Cutting down on caffeine is good though. I had a soda for the first time in almost two months yesterday and it did nothing for me. So I think the less caffeine you drink the more your body is going to reject it once it gets used to not having it. That’s what I notice anyway.

You have a nice rest of the week my friend, and that goes for everyone else here as well!

Its good to read this, you needed a treat. my friend :gotcha:

I sometimes imagine that in the far off future when we are all gone that they will make an actual movie about Covid .. a disaster movie.

Oh good! I’m glad you enjoyed that one. I almost died laughing myself when you pushed me off that cliff. That was hilarious!! I really appreciate that kind of humor. Or perhaps it wasn’t humor and you just wanted your crown back but I still laughed nonetheless.
I'm so glad you get my humour DFF  and I know how wicked I am in that thread , my whole personality changes when it comes to competing to be the hottest on TT.

There’s always a special feeling for that first car. Mine was a pile of useless metal that everyone else would laugh at but I didn’t care.
I know what you mean, mine was covered in rust and still ... I was so proud.

Now, did the second car make you forget all about the first one once you got in it? I’m hoping this one had heat?
Oh yes, my second car felt like a Rolls Royce ... it had heat, a radio/cassette player and was actually waterproof :D

it looks very cool :cool1

It was electric blue with red and green stripes and it had my initials on the side. It was, well, it was pretty ugly to be honest but I didn’t care. I was 16 and I finally had a car. Wow you were just 16? having a car must've made you feel so free.

It must've been a shock to see the road under your feet as you drove..Lol! . I do get that despite the no floor situation how you still stuck with the car, I was like that with my first car, I just got used to all its faults and carried on

My second car had a floor, and that was a nice feature.
That was quite a big improvement

Yes you're completely right, I struggle to recall which was my second, third, fourth ..etc., car , but I can still see very clearly my first car.

Oh, it appeals, it appeals. Look, at this point I have to accept the fact that playing professionally probably isn’t going to happen LOL, so yes I would go into coaching if the opportunity ever presented itself. Your nephew is doing you proud :) it must be wonderful for you to see how much he loves the sport too.

May I ask (here we go again ) .. if you did decide to become a coach would you need special qualifications or is it all down to what experience you have?

Unfortunately I’ve seen this happen way too many times over here. And here we are again, about to go right back into hurricane season.
How long does the hurricane season last for, if you don't mind another nosy question of mine?

Thank you for the encouragement. On a good day I am now down to one coffee .. although I had two today, naughty me. I can't see me ever being able to cope with the morning without that first coffee to wake me up , but who knows?

Its interesting to hear how you didn't particularly enjoy soda again after not drinking it for so long, you've done so well. I'm enjoying the herbal teas more and more, they're very refreshing. Maybe I should start a thread about herbal tea? and then I can pick up some tips from other people .. yes, I will do that when I'm feeling braver

Have a good week DFF and beware of those snakes :D

Thank you! I do tend to overdo it on the weekend but I’ve found it definitely helps. But then Monday I’m right back on my strict diet again. (But not too strict).

Do you currently have any secret treats hidden in the back of the refrigerator Lashes? I do love it when you tell me these things!

I sometimes imagine that in the far off future when we are all gone that they will make an actual movie about Covid .. a disaster movie.
You’re probably right and I do hope it’s loooooong after we’re gone cause I feel like we already lived it and really wouldn’t want to do that again, even if it’s just a movie.

I'm so glad you get my humour DFF  and I know how wicked I am in that thread , my whole personality changes when it comes to competing to be the hottest on TT.
Yes, I have noticed this about you! But I think it’s great when nice people change into a completely different person when they’re competing for something. You’re the first person that’s tried to kill me but been so polite about it Lashes.

The girl that works next to me in our station is very similar. She’s so nice and sweet but when it comes to getting her hours she will steal the boxes out of your truck when you’re not looking (and even if you are looking) if she feels she isn’t getting enough work. I’ve told her more than once she can have whatever she wants cause, well, I’m quite afraid of her. That usually makes her laugh, which is good cause I don’t think she’d ever hurt DFF but you never know.

I know what you mean, mine was covered in rust and still ... I was so proud.
I’m glad you said this cause it makes me feel better about driving around with no floor.

All nice features! I’m sure you missed your first car but you must’ve been content nonetheless. Let’s face it, all we want is to be nice and comfortable while driving our vehicles.

Did you notice yourself missing the old car less as time went on or did you actually miss it even more?

Was it similar to this one?

20201122_151722.jpg
Yes! Pretty much identical. Oh I loved that car! The thing I remember about it the most is when I drove it down to Florida from New York when I moved in 1994. It was already 11 years old then and I was worried it wouldn’t make it down in one piece but somehow it did.

Wow you were just 16? having a car must've made you feel so free.
DFF couldn’t wait to start driving, and luckily my grandparents had a car they didn’t need. The morning of my road test we got hit with a blizzard in Upstate New York. Everyone was telling me to reschedule the test but do you think I listened? Nope, I took my test in the down pouring snow. Somehow I passed but perhaps the dumbest thing I’ve ever done. I just couldn’t wait to get my license.

It must've been a shock to see the road under your feet as you drove..Lol!
It was rather eerie, but there was also something kind of cool about seeing the highway as you go. Unfortunately the passengers didn’t share my opinion. The biggest problem was when it would rain. The water would come up into the car and it wasn’t the best way to keep friends. And with all the rain down here it became a huge issue and the car would smell so I finally decided to put him out to pasture.

. I do get that despite the no floor situation how you still stuck with the car, I was like that with my first car, I just got used to all its faults and carried on
I’m afraid I can be quite stubborn with holding onto things too long. I’m a little embarrassed to tell that story but it is kind of funny. Thank you for saying that cause you’re the first person that actually understood LOL!! Everyone had to literally beg me to get rid of that car, and of course, I’d get a little defiant when they talked bad about it so for spite I held onto it even longer. I actually had people offering to buy a new car for me but I refused!!! I was such an imbecile, wasn’t I?

Yes you're completely right, I struggle to recall which was my second, third, fourth ..etc., car , but I can still see very clearly my first car.
I can tell how much you loved that car! Incredibly, even now at 48 years old I’ve only had five cars and I can actually remember them all.

The 1983 Chrysler with no floor
My 1991 Toyota Tercel (With floor)
A 1999 Nissan Sentra (Also with floor)
2005 Hyundai Accent (Wall to wall flooring)
2012 Hyundai Elantra (Yes, floor as well)

Your nephew is doing you proud :) it must be wonderful for you to see how much he loves the sport too.
His career choice does make me happy. I know baseball isn’t his favorite sport and that’s fine. He prefers a career in basketball or American football and I’m okay with either of those also. I just want him to be happy.

May I ask (here we go again ) .. if you did decide to become a coach would you need special qualifications or is it all down to what experience you have?
I guess, unfortunately, my experience wouldn’t be quite enough in today’s sports world. You pretty much have to work in one organization for a long time and work your way up. I know people in baseball that have been waiting years for their chance and for most of them that chance never comes. It’s quite sad but that’s the nature of the business. It’s all a long shot, as I found out.

How long does the hurricane season last for, if you don't mind another nosy question of mine?
Ask away my nosy friend! I think it goes from June 15 to December 15, or something like that. Six long, scary, drawn out, petrifying, nerve wracking, tedious, on edge, edge of your seat, rainy, windy, storm filled months of pure torture, pain, damage, destruction, trepidation and fear.

Did I cover it all there?

Thank you for the encouragement. On a good day I am now down to one coffee .. although I had two today, naughty me. I can't see me ever being able to cope with the morning without that first coffee to wake me up , but who knows?
Well, I don’t think two coffees is gonna hurt you. Cutting down on caffeine is tough. For some reason, I’ve never liked coffee but soda was my biggest problem.

Do you feel the less caffeine you drink the more used to it you’re getting? Or do you notice yourself getting the dreaded caffeine withdrawals? I had those at first but eventually it went away.

Its interesting to hear how you didn't particularly enjoy soda again after not drinking it for so long, you've done so well.
Thank you! It’s weird cause if I have soda now I don’t like it nearly as much. And I notice that I won’t go back for another glass, whereas before I could’ve easily drank an entire two liter. I miss it sometimes, but only until I drink it. And then I’m done.

Does this make any sense to you Lashes? Cause it’s a mystery to me.

I'm enjoying the herbal teas more and more, they're very refreshing. Maybe I should start a thread about herbal tea? and then I can pick up some tips from other people .. yes, I will do that when I'm feeling braver
Starting a thread is probably a good idea! You’d be surprised what you might learn about herbal tea. I feel like I learn something new on this site all the time now about miscellaneous topics like this.

Have a good week DFF and beware of those snakes :D

I’m glad you said this cause it makes me feel better about driving around with no floor.

Did you notice yourself missing the old car less as time went on or did you actually miss it even more?
No, I missed it less. At first I kept looking to see if I could see someone else driving it on the road, but that never happened because it went to the big car scrap yard in the sky.

Oh I loved that car! The thing I remember about it the most is when I drove it down to Florida from New York when I moved in 1994. It was already 11 years old then and I was worried it wouldn’t make it down in one piece but somehow it did.

How fab all your cars had floors :giggle: we had a Toyota a few years ago and it was a very good car, also had a Nissan, but no Hyundai or Chrysler. We currently have an Audi which basically drives itself, oh and Mr L has a big van which I enjoy driving when I get the chance .. not so keen on parking it though.

I've not had an withdrawals thankfully and I'm surprised by that. I yearn for a cup of coffee first thing in the morning so I have one and then that's it for the rest of the day. I now wonder if I kept drinking coffee all day long out of habit and not because I actually wanted or needed one?

Those look delicious! I’ve never seen those here but we do have Rice Krispie Treats, which look very similar. I love those! I buy them by the box of 40 and I could probably eat 39 of them in the car on the way home from the supermarket if I tried.

There’s a chocolate version too? Oh, now we’re talking Lashes!! Hold on, DFF googling. I gotta find this stuff.

... its not my fault if other people don't look to the back of the cupboard..Lol!
I guess that’s one of the luxuries of living alone. I don’t have to really hide anything from anyone. I would probably do the same thing you do and push all the junk food and sweets to the back.

Does this generally work or do they find it regardless of what you do?

This site has a very strange affect on me.
You and me both! I’m the shyest person you can ever meet but once I joined here I started posting and it became hard to stop. I learned to love the interaction, which is odd cause that’s not really me.

I can play board games, cards, video games etc and I couldn't care less if I win or not, but once I get on the LAST POST thread ... whooooosh! I become a completely different person ... I kind of like it though
I see. So the enticement of winning and holding onto the hotness crown brings out your competitiveness. I like it too though! I like how seriously you take it. There’s nothing wrong with being competitive. I kind of got the impression you meant business when you pushed me off that cliff Lashes.

No, I missed it less. At first I kept looking to see if I could see someone else driving it on the road, but that never happened because it went to the big car scrap yard in the sky.
I do wonder how I’m gonna feel when it’s time for this car to go. I have it almost 12 years now and I’ve never had one this long. I’m dreading that day but I know it’s inevitable.

It sounds like a toughie and it obviously didn't want to let you down :cool1
It never did but as much as I loved it, I have to say that this car has become my sentimental favorite now. We’ve just spent way too much time together. I pull into work every morning and I see all these new cars sitting there but here I am still driving my 2012 sedan. Like I said, I get too attached I guess.

I think that's great , if you can drive in pouring snow and still pass your test then it proved you are a competent driver.
I guess it was a harbinger of things to come cause I was still quite a few years away from a driving career. I should tell this story to someone next time they yell at me for going a little too fast down their block, shouldn’t I?

although, if someone had offered to buy me a car I might have taken them up on it
Eventually I did, when I noticed that stubbornness wasn’t going to fix the hole in the floor.

We currently have an Audi which basically drives itself, oh and Mr L has a big van which I enjoy driving when I get the chance .. not so keen on parking it though.
Can’t go wrong with an Audi!

Is the problem with parking the van that it’s too big to maneuver? I can definitely relate to this cause it took me awhile to feel comfortable parking my work vehicle in the beginning.

Ooo I didn't realise it lasted that long
Yes, hurricane season season is about six months long now. We’ve been so lucky here in recent years. The last big scare was in 2017. That was the time I got in the car and drove up the coast to New York just to avoid it. But then I see what happened to the rest of the state last year and that could’ve so easily have been us.

I've not had an withdrawals thankfully and I'm surprised by that. I yearn for a cup of coffee first thing in the morning so I have one and then that's it for the rest of the day. I now wonder if I kept drinking coffee all day long out of habit and not because I actually wanted or needed one?
You might’ve been drinking it out of habit. I bet a lot of people do just that. I know it was similar with me and soda. I’d drink it early in the morning and I’d still be drinking it at night after dinner. I was probably addicted to caffeine.

How’s the herbal tea experiment going? I have to go over to your thread and check it out.

You have a terrific week my friend!!

This feels a but rude, butting in a breaking up the cadence of your conversation.... but caffeine is classified as a drug by WHO, I hear often people saying that the can't function until they have a coffee. They need a "hit" of their DOC (drug of choice). It's possible to OD on caffeine, last year the local papers ran a story about a teenager working at Costa Coffee had 10 expressos during their shift, and had a fit, needing hospitalization.

A few years ago a coroner's inquest in Winsor found that the young man (21 I believe) that was on a night out with friends spent the evening in Wetherspoons drinking vodka redbull pitchers. Two of the group got into a argument back at their hotel and the guy in question stepped in-between to act a peace maker. Things escalated and the guy collapsed and died before the ambulance arrived.

The inquest found that his blood alcohol level was below the level that would lead to arrest for drink driving. He could have driven that evening. The level of caffeine in his system coupled with the stress of breaking up a fight resulted in a heart attack. Wetherspoons pitchers are like a double shot of vodka and fill the jug with Redbull, high in caffeine.

Forgive me for whittering on, but I have heard people talk with conviction built on a firm knowledge base, because they done watched Eastenders and Layla getting a shooter pressed on her dome by some petty criminal from down the local cattle market disco (point of order: I've been to numerous mad banging uber session hosting nightclubs around the world, but some of my most memorable and super fun session were in the local cattle market, sorry "nightclub" under the multistory carpark, outrageous behavior was ignored. You'd have to glass someone or in that realm for the bouncers to drag you outside, and seriously, they'd give you a kicking, but I was a saint)

Hmm I've lost my train of thought. Oh yes, misguided ideas about the dangers of drugs. I of course Just say no!... but for some reason people look down on illegal drug users, as if they are beyond redemption and/or help. The judgmental self appointed moral gradians then go to a pub, drink 6 pints a then drive back home.
I give a few quid to street beggars, and wish them all the best. When people say "ugh their gonna by drugs with your money" I say "I hope they get wreck up"

Caffeine is not considered as harmful by the hoi polio, but it is and it's ubiquitous. Tobacco is extremally dangerous but on sale around the clock, alcohol is available 24 hours a day from petrol stations, some supermarkets and other outlets, but the damage alcohol causes, poor health, addiction, violence, drink driving deaths, is accepted. Prescription opioids are becoming an issue in UK. Doctors freely dish them out, personal experience... I've got enough to get the whole parish hopping. Every month I get more with no GP oversight. But that's accepted. A good friend once showed me his kitchen draw full of morphine capsules.

People choose or fall into using their DOC, I find it odd that smack rats (heroin users) rock stars (crack users) blow monsters (coke users) pill poppers and Mandy fiends et al are considered as the lowest from of life by the fiends that drink the gas bill money in the pub and live on opioid scripts smoking 30 a day.

The point I kinda got lost making is, caffeine is addictive and can harm the user. Final thoughts Kate once said to me "the ecstasy dealers around B'stoke are putting rat poison in their product, fact!

I said "why would they want to hurt or kill their customer base, keeping them coming back for repeat sales makes more sense"

She was just, well who knows, and now a mother.... Jesus! I wont tell you what she believed about the police arresting you. It's insane.

Always feel free to interject my friend! Anyone and everyone is free to comment here if they like.

Caffeine is not considered as harmful by the hoi polio, but it is and it's ubiquitous
It can be very harmful, I agree. I grew up around a lot of heavy coffee drinkers but it was never my thing. Now soda, that was once a big problem for me. My caffeine intake was off the charts. I’d drink two liters of soda a day at one time. That led to some issues later on but I learned (eventually) and now it’s about one glass a month.

That’s why I love the TT Cafe cause I can drink all the soda I want without feeling guilty.

Tobacco is extremally dangerous but on sale around the clock, alcohol is available 24 hours a day from petrol stations, some supermarkets and other outlets,
I’ve never used a tobacco product, not even once. Never saw the need to honestly. And alcohol I’ve never liked. I had a beer offered to me on Easter Sunday and I can honestly tell you that it was the first ounce of alcohol I’ve had in years.

You know, I’m reading that back now and realizing that DFF is a actually quite boring!

Prescription opioids are becoming an issue in UK
With a very physically demanding job, I will admit to taking the occasional painkiller. But I take them as a last resort. I don’t like them, and the last thing I want to do is become dependent on them. Almost four years ago I had surgery on my back and I had to be talked into taking the painkillers cause I was afraid of them. Of course, considering how I felt right after surgery it didn’t take a whole lot of convincing. If used properly they serve their good purpose but I’ve seen too many instances where they end up getting abused.

People choose or fall into using their DOC,
Very true indeed! Whether it’s the drugs you mentioned getting abused (some of which I didn’t even know those were their nicknames so you taught me something there) or alcohol or painkillers, I think it all comes down to choices in life. I’ve lost a cousin to drugs and I’ve lost a cousin to alcoholism. I even lost a mother to bad choices so I can relate to what you’re saying.

The point I kinda got lost making is, caffeine is addictive and can harm the user
Yes, well, hopefully our own dear @Long Lashes isn’t drinking her morning coffee while reading this cause I’m afraid we’ve probably scared the poor thing off caffeine for good now.

Final thoughts Kate once said to me "the ecstasy dealers around B'stoke are putting rat poison in their product, fact!
I think I’ve heard this before so I’m thinking Kate was right. But again, this is not exactly DFF’s field of expertise

I said "why would they want to hurt or kill their customer base, keeping them coming back for repeat sales makes more sense"
Logical question! I have to say I do see your rationale here if I had to put on my “drug dealer thinking cap” for a second.

She was just, well who knows, and now a mother....
She sounds like a perplexing person, that Kate!

I wont tell you what she believed about the police arresting you. It's insane.
I think it’s better you don’t tell us.

Mine's been super ace, a pal got me 2 bottles of gin, long story short, now only half of one bottle left. I;ve done great work!
That’s a lot of gin! I’ve often wondered how consuming alcohol would affect my posting but perhaps it’s better I never find out.

I’m glad you had a nice weekend Biggie and the same goes for everyone else!

That's truly appreciated. I've reviewed yesterday's offerings and.... reads like the ramblings of a madman, but the deed is done.
You know, I’m reading that back now and realizing that DFF is a actually quite boring!
I would suggest that DFF is not boring at all. Following the herd is easy, that said, following the herd can offer up.... not sure how to phrase this.. hmm... some unscripted but fun nights out. Saying "no" takes resolve.
, I will admit to taking the occasional painkiller. But I take them as a last resort
I've got a knee thing going on since '95. The doctors have tried everything including surgery and they can do no more that offer pain relief. I'm now prescribed opiate meds. I use only when needs. I order my 'scripts on line and collect a few days later, if two month pass without ordering the med it is removed and getting it back on is difficult. So I've built up a stockpile of opiates, it's insane. I know people that misuse opiate meds. Passing on my prescriptions to them would be a serious crime in the UK, dealing in class A drugs, so I don't but others I know do. It's all to common in my hometown, the problem is almost invisible.
I even lost a mother to bad choice
So sorry to hear this. Addiction is insidious and doesn't care about gender, ethnicity or social standing. First hand witness. Although I might scoff at soap opera fiend, I know the regality. It's ugly.
She sounds like a perplexing person, that Kate!
Kate was something crazy and then some. Funny enough three Saturdays ago I hooked up with some chums in a cocktail bar, and Kate's sister and husband were there. Zoe now works for the Home Office, opposing prisoner's law suits claiming whatever nonsense. Kate lapped up apocryphal garbage that was clearly utter rubbish.
That’s a lot of gin! I’ve often wondered how consuming alcohol would affect my posting but perhaps it’s better I never find ou
Well DFF, I can say with confidence that one's postings are hijacked by hyperbole laced with... meandering thoughts that pop into one's head. and a lot of grammar errors and loosing one's train of thought. All while it take ages and ages to tap out the post on this lap top. As I multi task and bounce around on my iTunes account. But you might do better.

Thank you! I guess I’ve never been much of a follower of the herd so to speak. I like letting the herd look for me when they’re ready.

I've got a knee thing going on since '95. The doctors have tried everything including surgery and they can do no more that offer pain relief.
I’m sorry to hear this! I hope the meds provide some relief at least. My problem is my feet. Structurally they’re fine but they have too much wear and tear. Not a whole lot can be done other than special shoes, soles, rest, etc. My feet certainly give me some tough days sometimes but I’m okay.

So sorry to hear this. Addiction is insidious and doesn't care about gender, ethnicity or social standing. First hand witness. Although I might scoff at soap opera fiend, I know the regality. It's ugly
Thank you my friend! Mom was such a long, convoluted story that I quite honestly still don’t understand sometimes. Just a lost soul that couldn’t be brought back sadly. Somehow, and I’m not sure how, I have no regrets with her though. Maybe the old saying is true and time does heal all wounds.

I see you have experience with this so I guess I’ll just stick with drinking water before I post. Sorry I didn't warn you I would be away, but we got a last minute fab deal for 8 days on a Greek island, it was too good an offer not to go, rude not to really..Lol!

Oh how relaxed I now feel, we didn't do much whilst there, a few walks and a lot of sitting around soaking up the sun reading, eating good food etc. I want to go back  oh and for the very first time in my life I got to use a hammock, it was wonderful, like being on a big swing .. not easy to get into or out of, but once I was in it ... it was bliss. I've suggested we buy one for our back garden, Mr L is not too keen.

Right, where were we before I rudely shot off?
Those look delicious! I’ve never seen those here but we do have Rice Krispie Treats, which look very similar. I love those! I buy them by the box of 40 and I could probably eat 39 of them in the car on the way home from the supermarket if I tried.
Another good thing about these Crispy bars is that they're low calorie .... just don't go eating 39 of them in the car DFF

There’s a chocolate version too? Oh, now we’re talking Lashes!! Hold on, DFF googling. I gotta find this stuff.
:lmao:

I guess that’s one of the luxuries of living alone. I don’t have to really hide anything from anyone. I would probably do the same thing you do and push all the junk food and sweets to the back.
Yes you need special skills to hide stuff from other people... and I'm proud to say I am now an expert of squirrelling away tasty treats.

Does this generally work or do they find it regardless of what you do?
So far so good :gotcha: ... no one has found my treasures.

If they looked hard enough they'd soon find them (I'm talking about Mr L and my two fab step-sons) ... and its not my fault if they're too lazy to do a search is it? I would tell you where I hide things DFF, but I'm scared in my case my lot decide to read this thread .

You and me both! I’m the shyest person you can ever meet but once I joined here I started posting and it became hard to stop. I learned to love the interaction, which is odd cause that’s not really me.
Then you came to the right place my friend. It is odd though the affect a forum has on us.

I don't do Facebook though or other social media thingies, I did initial join Facebook and found it weird .. all these people I barely knew wanting to be an 'official friend' of mine, it made me feel uncomfortable, but I do know a lot of people get a lot of pleasure from it. We all like different things I guess.

I see. So the enticement of winning and holding onto the hotness crown brings out your competitiveness. I like it too though! I like how seriously you take it. There’s nothing wrong with being competitive.
I was panicking when we were away in case someone had sneaked into the Hotness thread and stolen my crown ...

:jk:

I kind of got the impression you meant business when you pushed me off that cliff Lashes.
Lol! .. I think I've scared you for life doing that ... :giggle:

I do wonder how I’m gonna feel when it’s time for this car to go. I have it almost 12 years now and I’ve never had one this long. I’m dreading that day but I know it’s inevitable.
I'm like you in that respect, I always have a pang of sadness letting my old cars go. One of my friends gets a new car every year without fail... I can't be bothered with all that.

Is the problem with parking the van that it’s too big to maneuver? I can definitely relate to this cause it took me awhile to feel comfortable parking my work vehicle in the beginning.
Yes exactly, its the size of the van when parking , it has beeping noises and stuff to make it safer to park, but the beeping noises make me jump and put me on edge  . You must be an expert at parking anywhere DFF and I suppose you need to be when doing your job.

Yes, hurricane season season is about six months long now. We’ve been so lucky here in recent years. The last big scare was in 2017. That was the time I got in the car and drove up the coast to New York just to avoid it. But then I see what happened to the rest of the state last year and that could’ve so easily have been us.
Heck how scary. I can't begin to imagine the fears you have when the hurricanes start. I used to think the hurricane season was about three months, how wrong I was.

You might’ve been drinking it out of habit. I bet a lot of people do just that. I know it was similar with me and soda. I’d drink it early in the morning and I’d still be drinking it at night after dinner. I was probably addicted to caffeine.
You're right again, yes I've been drinking coffee for years just out of habit. I never gave it a second thought. Luckily I don't seem to have suffered from caffeine withdrawal which is a miracle considering how much coffee I used to drink. I am now down to just one coffee a day .. that cup of coffee in the morning is the only thing which gets me out of bed :D

How’s the herbal tea experiment going? I have to go over to your thread and check it out.
Ooo I can't believe how much I'm enjoying herbal teas. I remember trying a herbal tea years ago and thought it was horrid and now I'm thrilled to be drinking it.

I for one have never gone for a hammock. I never could figure out how to stay on it without falling off. I feel so awkward laying on one and I just know it will be a matter of time til I fall off and land on the ground.

I do think they look nice though. They seem to complete a backyard and give it a good look. I can definitely see you putting one in your garden.

Low calorie is good for me these days. Well, unless it’s the weekend and then I don’t care. All bets are off when I wake up Saturday morning as far as my diet goes.

Yes! I probably never would’ve joined. It just wasn’t something I would ever do. I lurked and I lurked and I’d read posts every night for years.snd I never thought I’d be posting with all these nice people someday. It was quite odd at first but I’m glad I’m here now.

We all like different things I guess.
I can understand what you’re saying cause I’m basically the same. To each his or her own but I’m not big on most social media either. I do get curious sometimes and wonder if I’m missing out on something though. Even the company I work for has its own Facebook page and I don’t ever go on there cause from what I hear a lot of people go on there to complain about work related stuff and that’s not something I want to be a part of.

I was panicking when we were away in case someone had sneaked into the Hotness thread and stolen my crown ...
Well, you’re having a nice long reign and deservedly so. I forgot just how many days you’ve had the crown now so I need to take a peek. You have to understand though that it’s hard for me to read from the bottom of that cliff I’m still laying at.

Lol! .. I think I've scared you for life doing that ... :giggle:
It definitely made me look at you in a whole new light!! You had me fooled Lashes. I really didn’t think attempted murder was your thing but it made me appreciate your competitive spirit.

I'm like you in that respect, I always have a pang of sadness letting my old cars go. One of my friends gets a new car every year without fail... I can't be bothered with all that.
A new car every year does sound nice to me, I have to admit, but I just get too attached. But my work vehicle, now that’s a different story. I couldn’t wait for that truck to get here last year. I remember when it pulled in the station that first day and I kept saying to myself, “please give it to me, please give it to me, please give it to me,” and there were only two of them at that point so I’m thinking what are the odds? And my boss was asking others if they wanted one of them and for some reason I’ll never understand they were all saying no. But not me.

Yes exactly, its the size of the van when parking , it has beeping noises and stuff to make it safer to park, but the beeping noises make me jump and put me on edge  . You must be an expert at parking anywhere DFF and I suppose you need to be when doing your job.
Yes, I figured it was something like that cause I had the same problem. The beeping drove me crazy at first. I’d be sitting there at a light and every time someone pulled up next to me I’d think it was New Year’s Eve. Backing up was tough for me too. It felt so weird and I was so afraid I’d hit something. I avoid backing for the most part cause it still makes me nervous.

Heck how scary. I can't begin to imagine the fears you have when the hurricanes start. I used to think the hurricane season was about three months, how wrong I was.
I’m kind of used to it now to be honest. But the fear is always there that this could be the big one coming this season. We seem to get lucky here every year where I live but we do have those close calls. It officially starts in about a month. Really the only thing I hate about living here but that’s the price we pay for the great weather.

I’m so glad you didn’t get the withdrawals cause I had them pretty bad at first. I’d get these bad headaches but eventually I guess my body adjusted.

One coffee a day is never going to hurt you. That’s perfectly normal. As much caffeine as I once consumed, I just never went for coffee. I know that sounds hard to believe.

Ooo I can't believe how much I'm enjoying herbal teas. I remember trying a herbal tea years ago and thought it was horrid and now I'm thrilled to be drinking it.
I haven’t had herbal teas in awhile. I remember liking them but not as much as I did sweet tea. That was another addiction of mine at one time, even worse than soda maybe.

I’m pretty guarded myself. It takes me a long time to feel comfortable with people when I meet them. I’m even kind of an enigma to most of the people I work with and I’m there 25 years. But they understand that’s just how I am. I like mostly everyone, but I’m very selective about who I let get close.

I'm quite loquacious when posting, sometimes. Reading like Egyptian hieroglyphs written by a madman perhaps, but as you mentioned it is the interaction, passive or active.
How you post is fine. If it’s who you are, then that’s who you are and that doesn’t make you a madman. I’ve posted many times and then read it back and gone “Why did I say that?” or “I could’ve said that differently, no ones gonna get what I mean” or sometimes it’s the dreaded post that I meant to be funny but no one else laughed. But it’s all part of the interaction. Our posts are an extension of our personalities, our moods and feelings, and we’re all different.

If your sphere is anything like mine, those within it are unlikely to stumbled across TT.
I’ve noticed this too. We are a pretty hidden community. Kind of sad though, isn’t it? I wish more people I know would find this site. I’ve mentioned it to a few people I work with but they seemed indifferent.

If a family member did, they'd have to know your everything to identify you. After finding your posts, joining the dots and making the connection it's their family member masquerading DFF...
I guess the odds are long on that happening. I can only think of one person in my family nosey enough to browse here and start connecting dots and that’s the pain in the neck niece. If anyone ever finds me here it’s gonna be her one day. Of course I’ll deny all accusations.

I kinda like the fact that we're pretty hidden. It's like "Unimatrix Zero" to reference Star Trek Voyager. I've only mentioned that I'm on this platform to Big Sister and a fine gentleman I've known since time. Both were showed an interest for a moment, both suggested that... Actually what do they know, Big Sister only has 2 degrees and I was half way through a slab of Heineken with the fine gentleman! I had to point out to the man that my moniker should have clue enough!
I avoid most social media, as I’m extremely private.
I don't get involved in social media for the same reasons. The anonymity afforded by this platform coupled with the "pretty hidden" attribute has yielded something unexpected. I've, if not explicitly, have alluded to aspects of life that.... I'm sure you've gleaned.
How you post is fine. If it’s who you are, then that’s who you are and that doesn’t make you a madman. I’ve posted many times and then read it back and gone “Why did I say that?” or “I could’ve said that differently, no ones gonna get what I mean”
That's welcome feedback. I've also circled back and thought to myself "yeah, but no! anyone can read this and find it in poor or offensive taste and rightly report it" On a tangential note, wishing to share some of my faves (for better or worse) music with others. I really don't see genres, music is music to me... but my collection is certainly weighted in Hip=hop's favor. The language and subject are understandably often considered as offensive. I actually reached out the the mods for guidance, but still don't want to offed.
I guess the odds are long on that happening. I can only think of one person in my family nosey enough to browse here
I stumbled across TT by scrolling through many many many pages on the 'net. I Googled "Emmerdale" at work to see what others were saying about a storyline that was not the usual fodder for a teatime soap. Eventually following several visits joined... the rest you know!

I get the impression you’re doing this a long time considering how much thought you seem to put into it.
I've not really given it much though before, but think it must've started when Mr L and I first started living together  ... I don't call it 'hiding the food' by the way, I just carefully store it right at the back of the cupboard and place larger items in front so it can't be seen

My biggest fear is someone in my family finds Telly Talk and starts reading. They will put two and two together very quickly and figure out that 4=DFF.
Oh I know what you mean, which is why I try to be careful when I post photos on here, I always have this dread of neighbours or other people who know me discovering my special place (Telly Talk) and joining ... Mr L knows I post on here and he used to read some of my stuff, but I think he soon became bored ..Lol!

I can understand what you’re saying cause I’m basically the same. To each his or her own but I’m not big on most social media either. I do get curious sometimes and wonder if I’m missing out on something though.
I suppose we do miss out on some things, the other day I bumped into an old work colleague and she's recently spent three months in Australia, she was in a rush when I saw her and she shouted out to me .. "check out my photos they're on facebook" .. I always feel a bit dumb admitting 'I don't do facebook'

Even the company I work for has its own Facebook page and I don’t ever go on there cause from what I hear a lot of people go on there to complain about work related stuff and that’s not something I want to be a part of.
I don't blame you one bit not wanting to join in with this. I think it could be very disheartening to become part of something so negative. Also, I think negativity rubs of on other people so others are quick to join in.

Well, you’re having a nice long reign and deservedly so. I forgot just how many days you’ve had the crown now so I need to take a peek. You have to understand though that it’s hard for me to read from the bottom of that cliff I’m still laying at.
:coffeelaugh: ... are you still at the bottom of that cliff?

But my work vehicle, now that’s a different story. I couldn’t wait for that truck to get here last year. I remember when it pulled in the station that first day and I kept saying to myself, “please give it to me, please give it to me, please give it to me,” and there were only two of them at that point so I’m thinking what are the odds? And my boss was asking others if they wanted one of them and for some reason I’ll never understand they were all saying no. But not me.
So you got it then? :D

When I'm in the big van it has some great mirrors and all the usual safety stuff for when reversing, but unless I can see clearly with my own eyes and not have to rely on the technology (beeping noise) then I feel uneasy. Its reassuring to hear that you DFF who drive a large vehicle far more than I do has the same feeling about reversing .. but I don't think that's a bad thing, it must help to make us be more cautious and aware?

And @Biggie Lashes is absolutely right. Don’t ever feel like you’re being rude. You’re always more than welcome!

I just don’t think the same applies to the Last Post thread as far as she’s concerned though.

Just a hunch
Absolutely right! .. especially the bit about it not applying to the LAST POST THREAD :p

Does anyone remember what our goal was? I want to say it was 5300 posts by January 1, I think? Obviously that didn’t happen. Well, maybe we’ll make it by July 1 LOL!
Ooo I haven't a clue where we are up to with goals :confuse:.

We could try and do as you suggest my friend and get to 5300 posts by July 1st which is 34 days to go and we will need 17 more posts

... surely we can't fail? :lmao:
