I hope you had a nice New Years my friend! Hard to believe it’s 2024 already. I remember watching my very first New Year’s Eve celebration in 1982. I thought it was so cool getting to stay up until midnight, and now I can barely stay up at all.
Lol! .. I sometimes think that New years eve is over-rated. We actually went away for a few days over the New year, no where exotic just to a place called the Lake District which is about an hours drive from us, it was good to spend time doing some countryside walking and being pampered in a hotel..

I still recall 1999 changing to 2000 and people were panicing thinking that the computer systems would crash around the world .. nothing happened

I bet you are the type that is very friendly and very good to your drivers. You don’t know how that always makes a difference for me. It’s a nice feeling to be appreciated.
Our regualr delivery man is very friendly too which makes a difference. I actually saw him this morning when I was on my way out and he gave me a cheery wave, he's always in such a good mood.

Will you get mad at me if I tell you it’s in the 70s over here? And keep in mind it’s still raining daily, even though the rain season officially ended a month ago!!
No I would never get mad at you my friend :D I really enjoy hearing what its like where you are and I try to imagine how it would be to live somewhere as warm as you do.

so enjoyed your post about the lost elephant being reunited with its mother. To me it’s the little stuff like that that we need to hear daily right now. We all need to smile, and like you say I can also be a moaner about things sometimes. We all do it, it’s normal, and it’s fine as long as we don’t get stuck there like so many do. That’s what drives me crazy, when people get so set in all that negativity ‘cause it only makes things worse.
I know what you mean, its the everyday things which cheer me up and I'm so pleased you enjoyed my post about the baby elephant getting lost thank you, that story really touched me.

Here's another from this week which put the biggest smile on my face ..

The owner of a horse called Custard keeps getting telephone calls and messages from the pubic concerned that Custard was poorly and needed help, some of the public were reporting the owner to animal charities . Eventually Custards owner has to put out a message on social media to say .. "he's not deas, just lazy"...

SEI_186688875-5b3b.jpg

The owner said - "I have had a number of calls and messages about people concerned he is ill or dead at times. He is not. He's just a baby and is incredibly lazy!! He sleeps a lot and may even snore and grunt like he can't breathe. He's honestly absolutely fine. I check him at least three times a day and he has unlimited hay and is fed at least twice a day. I must make some signs for the gate to let people know"

Its touching how the public are looking out for distressed animals, but it must drive this owner mad, especailly when its just Custard beong lazy :D

I was trying to think of a way to introduce a thread on TT about 'good news' or 'news to make you smile' ... so I could post stuff like this one , not sure how to go about it yet .. this is just me thinking out loud and rambling here DFF

I think it’s mostly that I’m in a different place in life now. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still a lot I want to change but I look at things much differently now than I did back then. Tragedies are not fun, but if you survive them you can definitely learn a lot about yourself.
This shows you've come a long way, although I know its not been easy for you.

Yes, well, speaking of tragedies, I did survive yet another holiday season at work. I am banged up and bruised and realizing that I’m getting up there now but I’m okay. I have made myself a promise that this was my last Christmas on the road. Of course, going back and reading some of this thread over the years I notice I’ve said this before ‘Lashes. We’ll see how I feel in a few months because you and I both know how this usually goes.
Oh my goodness it sounds like you had the busiest time ever :yikey: . Can you book next Christmas off as a vacation? You've worked so many Christmas's its time you had a break.

Funny you should ask my friend. I’m off until January 15. I think I need it. I think everyone knows I need it. I sure didn’t refuse when it was offered anyway (lol).
I hope you've recharged your batteries again DFF. And fingers crossed that you get a few quiet weeks now that the Christmas madness is over :)

Well since you ask on 26 December, the day after Christmas, I saw this.

orchid122623.jpg

I had to buy this poor plant soul. She was without hope in a cold store. She is much better now.
Aw she's beautiful Michelle :) .. but how sad those signs are ... 'Last Chance' ... its like a sign of doom for the Orchid. At least she is safe now in your care.

No name yet for this new addition to my Poinsettia family. This is how I found her.
poinsettia-Newbie121923.jpg
Oh how gorgeous she is, no wonder you couldn't resist :love7:

I got another one on 7 January in the same place I grocery store I got the orchid above that had been sitting unwanted since 28 December. I saw it there for two weeks by itself but decided, "oh well, what does another one hurt" and got it. It's a biggie.
What colour is she? she might be related to the one you bought earlier at the same store, they might know each other :D

My first generation of Poisettias are in crisis and dying. Princess, Duchess II and Boxer down at my Mother's are dying or in very poor condition for unknown reasons. Streetie up here with me is not much better and I'm so lucky she made it to 2024.
Sad to hear how they are not well, but they have brought a lot of pleasure during their lives. I wish they could go on forever :hugs:

Here is a photo I took today in my full plant room with Streetie and the two newbies in the background.
streetie011024.jpg

I had to keep Streetie far forward not to touch the others just in case she is contagious.
Oh wow! :D:D:D:D what a great picture!

They all look great, even Streetie in her own way is still not giving up . I can see the Orchids in the back ground have thick lush leaves and the colour of the Poinsettias are beautiful, what a happy photo , thanks for sharing Michelle :bowing

Before I return to this thread I MUST take a photo of Matilda like I promised and show her to you ... before I kill her off ...

.. only joking, I'm doing my utmost to keep her happy

Yes we have no choice but to make the best of it. I've posted earlier to DFF about working Christmas but then managing to have 2 weeks off over new year.
A lot of my early jobs as a youngster meant working at Christmas so I've done loads, then I had a job for 11 years where we closed over Christmas, even though it was a respite unit for children with complex needs, so I've been spoiled and it hit me hard.

But I got through it thanks to my family and feel glad to have supported the vulnerable people I work with.
You do an important and great job LML :) its quite a sacrifice to give up Christmas for work, but you are clearly committed and care about what you do. I hope your work place appreciates you.

But you would be so welcome to post on the Dallas threads. I would love to see you there.
Lol! .. thank you, I might be brave one day and pop over to take a look.

I would love anyone to come over and join us on the Dallas threads.
Even if you feel you don't know a lot, any contribution is valuable, no matter how small.
My problem is I don't watch Dallas :yikey: .. don't tell anyone will you...Lol! I guess its never too late for me to start watching though is it?

I'm going to start a campaign now to get you and some others over there. We do form special bonds because of our love for the subject but it's inclusive for all, everyone's invited. I really hope to see you over there soon!
Good luck with that

.. I do love your enthusiasm and it making me want to go over there and post something. :D

I sometimes think that New years eve is over-rated.
It usually makes me a little sad for some reason. Probably the only holiday that still does. I think I get a little reflective on that night.

We actually went away for a few days over the New year, no where exotic just to a place called the Lake District which is about an hours drive from us, it was good to spend time doing some countryside walking and being pampered in a hotel..
This sounds very nice! Especially the countryside walking part. That is one of my favorite, oops I mean favourite, things to do.

I still recall 1999 changing to 2000 and people were panicing thinking that the computer systems would crash around the world .. nothing happened
Yes, I remember this well. I remember a certain post office I would frequent back then that had a digital clock on the wall counting down til the Millennium. I thought that was the coolest thing! I guess digital clocks still classified as cool in 1999.

The panic with all the computers crashing was unavoidable. Everyone was so nervous. I tried to tune it all out but it was all you heard everywhere you went. Then like you said, nothing. Thankfully.

Our regualr delivery man is very friendly too which makes a difference. I actually saw him this morning when I was on my way out and he gave me a cheery wave, he's always in such a good mood.
That’s nice to hear! Unfortunately I know so many doing our job that aren’t so chipper. I’d like to think they are just like that when I see them and are much different on the road. No matter what kind of day I’m having, good or bad, I never take it out on the customers. I’m always nice to them.

No I would never get mad at you my friend :D I really enjoy hearing what its like where you are and I try to imagine how it would be to live somewhere as warm as you do.
I’m glad you said that because sometimes I’m afraid to talk about the beautiful weather here when I see so many of you dealing with the cold and snow. Like right now most of this country is buried in snow but I’m sitting here with the air conditioning on. It can be tough getting people to like me sometimes ‘Lashes when they realize this.

I know what you mean, its the everyday things which cheer me up and I'm so pleased you enjoyed my post about the baby elephant getting lost thank you, that story really touched me.
I’m proud to say it touched me too. You always post the most thoughtful and heartwarming things and I hope I’m not embarrassing you by saying that. That Childhood in Pictures thread also made me smile.

Here's another from this week which put the biggest smile on my face ..
So I wonder if that horse should’ve been called Chat instead? There are some scary similarities.

That’s a great story though! Here people are thinking this horse is getting mistreated and all he wants to do is chill LOL!! The poor owner! People think he’s a cruel person but all he’s guilty of is having a very lazy horse.

I was trying to think of a way to introduce a thread on TT about 'good news' or 'news to make you smile' ... so I could post stuff like this one , not sure how to go about it yet .. this is just me thinking out loud and rambling here DFF
You’re not rambling at all. I love this idea and I think others will too. I for one would definitely be participating in a thread like that. If you decide to do it I’ll be sure to go over there and give it a boost. If you decide not to that’s fine too of course but I think it’s a great idea.

This shows you've come a long way, although I know its not been easy for you.
If anything ever was easy for me I’d be concerned ‘Lashes. But yes, others have pointed it out to me as well and I’m seeing it now too. I have come a long way and to be honest it’s a little scary sometimes but at the same time it does feel like I’m going to be okay now.

Oh my goodness it sounds like you had the busiest time ever :yikey: . Can you book next Christmas off as a vacation? You've worked so many Christmas's its time you had a break.
I do love how you think ‘Lashes. Unfortunately having Christmas off is a no-no where I work. No one ever gets it off. I do take a little peak at December when I go to that vacation board every year just for the (heck) of it but there’s always a nice big red X going through that week before Christmas. I think I have a better chance of winning the Last Post Thread.

I hope you've recharged your batteries again DFF. And fingers crossed that you get a few quiet weeks now that the Christmas madness is over :)
Thank you my friend! I am recharged (so far) and I hope you have a great week ahead as well and stay safe my friend!!

Don’t look now but we’re only 13 posts away from 5500!!!

'The Lovely Michelle'
Aw she's beautiful Michelle :) .. but how sad those signs are ... 'Last Chance' ... its like a sign of doom for the Orchid. At least she is safe now in your care.

It is indeed a sign of doom and it really pulls my heartstrings when I see a plant there. Their little plant souls are on the line.

Oh how gorgeous she is, no wonder you couldn't resist :love7:
She is going very well now and I'll try to take a new photo of my last orchid of 2023 very soon.

What colour is she? she might be related to the one you bought earlier at the same store, they might know each other :D
Red, crimson. She surely came in the same shipment as the one gifted to me was probably from that same store.

Sad to hear how they are not well, but they have brought a lot of pleasure during their lives. I wish they could go on forever :hugs:
I wish so too. Princess was my first Poinsettia and my only whitey. I'm hoping for a miracle to save their lives.
Oh wow! :D:D:D:D what a great picture!

They all look great, even Streetie in her own way is still not giving up . I can see the Orchids in the back ground have thick lush leaves and the colour of the Poinsettias are beautiful, what a happy photo , thanks for sharing Michelle :bowing

Streetie is struggling but her decline is slow so I have a little more hope for her but I don't know if she makes it to Spring. I'm so glad she was able to make it to 2024. I have started her on some light therapy in the evening. I had an extra orchid light I have rigged-up to see if it can help.
Before I return to this thread I MUST take a photo of Matilda like I promised and show her to you ... before I kill her off ...

.. only joking, I'm doing my utmost to keep her happy
I'd love to see Matilda! We need more Poinsettia talk. How is Orkie and Pearl doing too?

Then again, I converse with you on so many threads daily that you really weren’t missed that much (just kidding).
Yes even when I'm not on here we seem to be communicating elsewhere which is great. I tend to get a bit carried away over on Dallas (not so you'd notice) so it feels as though I'm constantly around even if not on here.

0 degrees? I haven’t seen that in so long that I’m not sure how I would even react to it.
It's been as low as -6 lately but it's meant to be getting milder over the next few days and very wet and windy. I was lucky where I am as we dodged the snow.

Maybe you would just freeze as you're not used to those temperatures and everything might come to a stand still. But I reckon you would cope well and put us Brits to shame.

My daughter is travelling a little of the US at the moment. She's just done NYC and is on her way to San Francisco then finishes up in Las Vegas. I'm so envious, that's something I would love to do now.
NY weather seemed much the same as here, they had some snow too.

Luckily they missed this area though but unfortunately they didn’t miss the entire state.
So glad that bad weather missed you, hopefully there wasn't too much destruction elsewhere.

An average day for me is usually around 90 to 100 stops, so when I walked in to 244
No way! I so didn't realise that was an average number for you, let alone 244! I think I would cry. Just have to get on with it I suppose, but that's some going.

They all understood. Well, except for one but he got over it.
I'm glad you managed it even if uou were turning up quite late into the evening. What a task?
It's good to know most of your customers understood. Always get one or two who don't, but that's expected unfortunately.

slower but not much.
I can imagine. We've all changed our shopping habits. If you said to me only a few years ago I would be shopping online I would have laughed at you. Me do shopping from a computer? Absolutely no chance! Yet here I am and I do.

That’s a very nice outlook to have
I got through working Christmas, seems like a distant memory now. All that build up and it's over so quickly. I take a while to get back into routine, but I'm getting there.

I’m reading that last paragraph back and I’m not sure if it makes any sense but I’m leaving it in.
It made perfect sense to me and summed it up really. I knew I had to do it, gave myself a hard time because I knew I had to do it, but it didn't change and engaging with the people I support was special and when it came to it I just got on with it.

Supportive family? Hmmm, is there such a thing?
Oh I hope so. I do feel very lucky to have such a supportive family. Only my immediate little family who I live with though. Not everyone is as lucky I know. Working in some sort of care all my life has shown me how different and difficult family life can be for some.

Not smart ticking off the person buying your bday lunch though, in retrospect.
Love that story, it did make me smile!
Hope you had a really great Birthday DFF!

Hope you're keeping well and having a good weekend, take care for now.

Same to everyone else here too. Happy Sunday!

I’m hoping working nights over Christmas at least gave you some nice overtime?
Forgot this one! Unfortunately not, just part of contracted hours.

Bye for now DFF see you over on the Dallas threads!

You do an important and great job LML
Thank you. I guess all jobs are important in their own way, but I think it's just a little tougher sometimes when they involve unsociable hours even if it is to suit family needs.

I might be brave one day and pop over to take a look.
Oh do, I would truly love that as others would I'm sure. But I understand how you feel especially if you haven't watched it.

Have you NEVER watched it? I feel sad that you're Dallas deprived.

I guess its never too late for me to start watching though is it?
Absolutely it's never too late. Maybe you will one day, then I can feel happier that you're not Dallas deprived. Anything you want to know, just ask.

Good luck with that
I can only try! I bet you know a little bit about it? Take the plunge, come over and join in.

I read on your replies to DFF you went to the Lakes at New Year? Sounds idyllic. Hope you had a super time.

Take care for now Lashes.

It usually makes me a little sad for some reason. Probably the only holiday that still does. I think I get a little reflective on that night.
I can understand this, jumping from an old year to a new one is a strange feeling. Its also one of those times when you think (well I do) that we are all supposed to be partying and having a mad fab time.

That is one of my favorite, oops I mean favourite, things to do.
Lol! . . you are turning into a Brit with your spellings

Yes, I remember this well. I remember a certain post office I would frequent back then that had a digital clock on the wall counting down til the Millennium. I thought that was the coolest thing! I guess digital clocks still classified as cool in 1999.

I must be bad because I was hoping something big would happen :giggle: nothing dangerous, but just a bit of drama. ... I do recall how many hundreds of fireworks went off on that midnight.

Are you like us at new year and get reports on the of New Zealand, Australia etc., welcoming in the new year when we are still stuck in new years eve?

Unfortunately I know so many doing our job that aren’t so chipper. I’d like to think they are just like that when I see them and are much different on the road. No matter what kind of day I’m having, good or bad, I never take it out on the customers. I’m always nice to them.

Ignore the jealous biddies my friend, I'm glad you live somewhere you love.

I’m proud to say it touched me too. You always post the most thoughtful and heartwarming things and I hope I’m not embarrassing you by saying that. That Childhood in Pictures thread also made me smile.
You are too kind :hugs: ... I always think my posts are boring and not too exciting. It always helps when I have friendly people on here to bounce off ... like you and all the others on the Games Forum.

You’re not rambling at all. I love this idea and I think others will too. I for one would definitely be participating in a thread like that. If you decide to do it I’ll be sure to go over there and give it a boost. If you decide not to that’s fine too of course but I think it’s a great idea.
I'm pleased you think it is a good idea :D maybe I could call it HEART-WARMING NEWS or NEWS TO LIFT YOU UP or something like that? Give me a bit more time and hopefully I'll come up with something. I work very, very slowly..Lol!

f anything ever was easy for me I’d be concerned ‘Lashes. But yes, others have pointed it out to me as well and I’m seeing it now too. I have come a long way and to be honest it’s a little scary sometimes but at the same time it does feel like I’m going to be okay now.
I love that last line you posted .. " it does feel like I’m going to be okay now.".. this proves you are in a far more content frame of mind which I know you have had to work hard towards this . Well done DFF. :)

May I ask ... do you get many people ringing in sick over the busy Christmas period? ... not that I'm suggesting you do this.Lol!

I don’t think you get carried away with Dallas at all! You’re obviously very passionate about the show and you’ve brought new life and good observations to that side of the site. That’s my take on it anyway.

It's been as low as -6 lately but it's meant to be getting milder over the next few days and very wet and windy. I was lucky where I am as we dodged the snow.
-6??? Yikes!!! And here I am complaining that it went down to 50 here last night. I’m glad you were able to dodge the snow. I’ve been watching the weather in the UK closely and it looks really nasty over there right now.

Maybe you would just freeze as you're not used to those temperatures and everything might come to a stand still. But I reckon you would cope well and put us Brits to shame.
You would think I would be able to cope with it considering I grew up in that kind of weather but I’m afraid I wouldn’t fair so well now. I’ve become a little spoiled living here all these years.

My daughter is travelling a little of the US at the moment. She's just done NYC and is on her way to San Francisco then finishes up in Las Vegas. I'm so envious, that's something I would love to do now.
I bet she spends more time in San Fran and Vegas than NYC given the weather right now LOL!! San Fran and Vegas are great places to visit. I’m partial to New York though, of course. That remains my favorite place to visit because I still have so much family there.

So glad that bad weather missed you, hopefully there wasn't too much destruction elsewhere.
We were lucky. There was some damage to the northern part of the state. Tornadoes are something we get quite often though so we’re all kind of used to it. Not a whole lot you can do really. I’ve seen my fair share of them unfortunately.

No way! I so didn't realise that was an average number for you, let alone 244! I think I would cry. Just have to get on with it I suppose, but that's some going.
And some did cry! It was pure madness this year but luckily I survived with only one injury. I was kind of glad to see it end.

I can imagine. We've all changed our shopping habits. If you said to me only a few years ago I would be shopping online I would have laughed at you. Me do shopping from a computer? Absolutely no chance! Yet here I am and I do.
The funny thing is I don’t ever shop online for the most part because the last thing I want to see at my front door when I get home everyday is packages.

I got through working Christmas, seems like a distant memory now. All that build up and it's over so quickly. I take a while to get back into routine, but I'm getting there.
Hard to believe it was almost a month ago already. Before you know it we will be talking about getting ready for the next Christmas.

. I knew I had to do it, gave myself a hard time because I knew I had to do it, but it didn't change and engaging with the people I support was special and when it came to it I just got on with it.
Isn’t it amazing what we can do when we have to? This never ceases to amaze me in life.

Working in some sort of care all my life has shown me how different and difficult family life can be for some.
I know what you mean. There are all different kinds of families and every family has its issues. None are perfect, that’s for sure. Growing up I realized pretty early on that my family wasn’t exactly conventional. I would complain about it to others but I know now how lucky I was to grow up with the people I did.

Hope you had a really great Birthday DFF!
Thank you! It was quite nice. My birthday can be sad for me usually because I tend to miss a certain relative that is no longer here but this year that wasn’t the case. The depression never creeped in thankfully.

It is a strange feeling. I never thought about it that way but you’re right. It’s like I’m sad to see the old year go for some reason but I do enjoy looking forward to the new one at the same time. No matter where I am that night, and no matter what’s going on around me, I have to go be alone at midnight. I can’t share that moment with anyone. I need that time to reflect.

As I’ve said to you before ‘Lashes, let’s be thankful no psychologists stop by here for a peek.

Lol! . . you are turning into a Brit with your spellings
You Brits have definitely influenced me greatly on this site. I’ve learned so much chatting with all of you.

I must be bad because I was hoping something big would happen :giggle: nothing dangerous, but just a bit of drama. ... I do recall how many hundreds of fireworks went off on that midnight.
Nah, that doesn’t make you bad. I was kind of curious to see what would happen myself. Like you said, nothing dangerous but it got such a buildup all those months that when nothing happened it was kind of a disappointment.

Okay, so we’re both bad ‘Lashes.

Are you like us at new year and get reports on the of New Zealand, Australia etc., welcoming in the new year when we are still stuck in new years eve?
Yes, and to be honest it all gets quite confusing. I’m fine with one celebration worldwide but of course that’s impossible. And I do have to say that it is kind of cool that everyone gets to celebrate it at different times. It’s like everyone is ringing in the new year in their own little parallel universes.

I don’t know what the heck that last sentence even means ‘Lashes.

Thats because you are very professional DFF :cool1 ... I can see why your regualr customers think highly of you.
Thank you my friend! And here I was thinking it was because I’m the only driver that walks up the right driveway.

Ignore the jealous biddies my friend, I'm glad you live somewhere you love.
Jealous biddies? I like that one! Is that yet another Brit thing I can steal? Is biddies anything like the budgies?

You are too kind :hugs: ... I always think my posts are boring and not too exciting. It always helps when I have friendly people on here to bounce off ... like you and all the others on the Games Forum.
Boring? ‘Lashes believe me when I say I’ve been interacting with you for quite a few years now and your posts are anything but boring! And I have bruises, cuts, abrasions, torn ligaments, broken bones and scars from the Last Post thread to prove it.

I'm pleased you think it is a good idea :D maybe I could call it HEART-WARMING NEWS or NEWS TO LIFT YOU UP or something like that? Give me a bit more time and hopefully I'll come up with something. I work very, very slowly..Lol!
Take your time. I definitely like the idea but there’s no rush. I like the titles you’ve come up with so far and I think it can work because it’s something we all need in my opinion. I’m a sucker for a feel good story and I think most people are the same.

I love that last line you posted .. " it does feel like I’m going to be okay now.".. this proves you are in a far more content frame of mind which I know you have had to work hard towards this . Well done DFF. :)
Thank you my friend! One day at a time I guess. It’s been a long road. I never thought it would ever get better at one point.

Ooo I see, well then maybe I should phone up your boss and put a case forward as to why you DFF need to be the exception and get a week off ;)
I like this idea! Unfortunately it probably wouldn’t work LOL!! Then again I don’t think my boss would be able to deal with the powers and persuasion of The Enforcer. Now, do your aliens help you in missions like these since the target itself would be across the pond?

May I ask ... do you get many people ringing in sick over the busy Christmas period? ... not that I'm suggesting you do this.Lol!
Of course you may ask! Yes, we do get a lot of sick calls over Christmas. People do tend to get fed up with all the extra work. I guess you can’t blame them. DFF is quite the idiot though apparently as I’m known as someone who never calls out sick. The last time I took a sick day was when I had surgery in 2019. I should take one soon just to keep them honest, right?

I hope you had a nice weekend ‘Lashes and that your snowfall hasn’t been too bad. Have a great week my friend and keep safe!!

Oh this is good to hear and I'll look forward to seeing her :D
Here she is, today, with a friend of hers from November.

orchids012624.jpg

The whitey is from 20 November and the other "Last Chance" orchid is from 26 December, a month ago. Both are well and loved now.

I wonder if Poinsettias have a rest period ? .. you know like our Orchids do? I'd love to hear that Princess has surprised you bounced enthusiastically back to full health.

I think they do when it's cooler out as they don't grow as much. I hope that is the case with the old ones I have that have been dropping leaves.
The light-therapy is a fab idea, I would never have thought of that. Streetie is so lucky to be coaxed along by you.

Streetie seems to be losing a limb from illness which isn't good. The rest of her seems okay-ish. I just fear that she'll get through the worst of Winter but dies in March or April before she can reach the garden again. She is an old plant with many ailments but I will never give up on her.

My other two new poinsettias are okay so far.
I sometimes call her Matty for short

MATTY.jpg

How fab to see Matty! :heels:She has great leaves! I like her pot too. How is she going? Their colors really brighten a room this time of year. Let's hope she makes it to next Christmas.

You're right I don’t know it, but it's really good and I mean that. Reminds me of my "rave" days, well rave nights from the 90s. Definitely has that vibe about it.
I'm glad you liked it, as not that well known. Rave days are something I know very well, for ten years I was a rave monster. Festival down here and in Liverpool. All night booty shaking in all the happening nightspot in London, Bournemouth, Ibiza, Hong Kong, Thailand and of course my fave spot... the local late night dump in B'stoke. Outrageous behaviour was the expected norm... much fun. I had so much fun back then, and maybe once or twice strayed across the line and was enticed into partaking in nefarious activities....But I now walk the path of righteousness.... mostly.
Hope you had plentiful pipes and peace for Christmas
I blazed up the pipe a treat over Christmas into 2024. I blaze for peace and love and everlasting. The peace pipe is a talisman of great power, come and join me under The Lightning Tree, we'll blaze sun down 'til sun up. Great work happens in meadow were the wind blows free after the witching hour.

We can trade stories about our rave days... stories best told in person.

And so the search for @Long Lashes continues. I’ve reached out to all my contacts in the galaxy. I’ve been in touch with all neighboring alien life forms and ordered all UFO spacecraft grounded and searched.

You know, I just realized though that this would be a great time to steal the Hotness Crown on a different thread, wouldn’t it?

Sorry, sorry. This is not a time for selfishness and we must remain focused on the search for our lost friend. My crooked little pre-arthritic index finger remains hovered over the “Friendly Hug” button waiting for a sign, any sign, of your return ‘Lashes.

Michelle made contact with her pesky alien friends and they assure me that she will be back soon.

I still have it silly! I would never take it from her in her absence but when I can honorably fight fit it.

Yes, it’s not the same around here without her. I just hope she returns as ‘Lashes though and not The Enforcer.

Just a quickie while I'm able to be here. Hi everyone, hope you're all well. Not often I can manage to get here so loving this opportunity. It'll take me oh so long to reply to individual posts so I'll reply in one.

@Biggie, I enjoyed reading about your rave times from your younger days, sounds like you had a blast. I travelled to Thailand twice just before covid and loved it so much. I could see it would be a revellers paradise and momentarily wished I was a young reveller again but alas only in my dreams but it is a very special place.

Italy and Kos gave me unforgettable clubbing scenes when I was younger. Italian house music and trance provided lots of dancing on tables. A rave closer to home seems more like a figment of my imagination now.
Like you those raving days are long behind me now.

Hi @DallasFanForever hope you're keeping well. My daughter loved her time in the States, she sent lots of photos and it looked amazing. She couldn't pick a favourite and enjoyed each place for different reasons. I hope your job has calmed down slightly since the Christmas rush but I bet it's still keeping you busy and providing plenty of stories and mishaps along the way. How's the weather for you lately?

Hi also to @Long Lashes, your fellow posters are missing you.

And @Michelle Stevens, great to see you over on the Dallas threads. Hope you're still enjoying caring for your flowers and trust they're doing well.

'Bye for now and take care everyone.

Hi LML! You have been missed over here my friend.

I’m glad your daughter enjoyed her trip to the US. I’m especially interested to know what she thought of New York. No matter which state I live in or travel to in this great country New York will always be my home. There’s nothing like it and I love hearing what others think about it when they visit, even when they tell me they didn’t enjoy it for whatever reason.

Well, it’s calmed down a little but really not that much overall. There have been a couple of slow days here and there and I do like those.

Oh yes, I always have a good story as you know, and mishaps are always included. Right now I’m just nursing another injury, nothing serious, but that’s normal for me.

How's the weather for you lately?
Getting hot! We’ve been in the 80s lately but it’s weird because before that we were having one of our coolest winters in quite some time. It was hitting the low 50s just about every morning for several weeks and that’s rare for us. So it’s been an odd winter.

You take care LML! Have a nice weekend and stay safe!!

If she had to pick a favourite New York would probably just come out on top over Las Vegas and San Francisco. She only had chance to do the usual tourist locations but said it was absolutely amazing and a very special experience. I've seen photos of Time Square and Ground zero (Is that the correct name for the Twin Towers location? apologies if it's not) She saw the Statue of Liberty by boat and could see Central Park from her Hotel. It also snowed!

My husband visited in the early 2000s and also really enjoyed New York. It's somewhere he's promised to take me one day (I'm still waiting!) I'm coming round to the idea now whereas before I felt I would find it a little overwhelming. As you know I've only been to Palm Springs and since then I've wanted to plan another visit to the States and see much more. I'm sure I will go soon.

I was itching to go for the Dallas reunion this weekend and even looked into it but I fear I could be disappointed by such a well organised and large event compared to the wonderfully disorganised and intimate event I went to. I still secretly wish I was there though!

Getting hot!
Lucky you! It's 3 degrees Celsius today (about 37.4 I think) but lucky us it's going to double figures next week hitting 10-12 which I think could be around the 50 mark like the temperatures you had. It's been a very wet winter this year but spring is on the way, fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear you're nursing yet another injury. Here's hoping you recover real soon.

Take care DFF and have a great weekend too!
