Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the urban legend that "Chachi" was Korean slang for male genitalia was never true and was just a joke someone told on the Tonight Show around the time Joanie Loves Chachi was on the air, a joke which took on a life of its own.

Duets with dead people. I enjoyed Natalie Cole singing "Unforgettable" with her father, there was a spark of magic to it, but enough already. If a singer wants to perform a duet they should find another living singer instead of engaging in the musical equivalent of necrophilia.

Eight years ago and album titled Love To Love You Donna was released, featuring remixes of Donna Summer songs. The person who remixed "Working The Midnight Shift" had trouble extracting Donna's vocals from the original tracks so they had another singer record new vocals!

I actually like those kinds of duets. I enjoy seeing singers “perform” together who never had the chance to share a stage.

it's still funny never the less, i'm going back to work tomorrow and i just found out cause i'm a client at a workshop that like 98% of the group of my friends that i spoke to aren't coming back there i hate that. there was a little group of us that were higher functional than the rest and all of them but 1 are gone and he's leaving soon as well i dunno when though nor does he.

I recall when Natalie Cole did that album, In Living Color did a rather savage spoof of it (calling out the blatant money-grab aspect of it) where the album was called Unforgivable.

What prompted me to post this was news of an upcoming release: A Sentimental Christmas With Nat King Cole And Friends: Cole Classics Reimagined (long enough title?). I heard the "duet" version of "The Christmas Song" which includes John Legend, it sounds like someone singing along (badly) to music on the radio. Scratch that, that's not what I really mean to say. What it really sounds like is John Legend and record company executives taking a steaming shit on the legacy of Nat King Cole in a desperate cash-grab.

She already had a considerable body of work and developed her stardom on her own. The ersatz duet with NKC was not something she needed to do. I'm guessing there was a degree of sentimentality since they had such a resemblance to one another and the producers who mixed the song were doing something new and exciting.

Yeah, it was her own father, after all, and I felt she had the right to it. Some of these others have no connection with the dead star and you just wonder what the point is.
