I found myself in a petrol station in Shoreham in the year of the fruitless harvest in the bleak midwinter with a bountiful curiosity...
The 20something woman working the till had numerous individual tattoos along the length of both arms. More on the neck and some amorphous thing on the side of the face. The one inch diameter plastic loop things in her earlobes were a brave choice.
I asked why? She cheerfully replied "it's the fashion right now"
I then asked what her plans were for when the current fashion fell out of favour... "don't know" she said.

I think that is the general mindset, unfortunately.
Whether it is tattoos or something else, it seems like people value style above substance,
or at least the style of the moment.
Like sheep.
It may seem trivial to some, but this herd mentality and this lack of critical thinking
is a major reason for the sad state of people's values.
This marking of the human body - what does it say about the self esteem of these people?
Is a tattoo really the only way they can be noticed or feel like they are being noticed?
Maybe I am delving too deeply into this, but I do believe there is some connection between the
nihilism and hopelessness that so many feel, and the proliferation of both tattoos and body piercings

I nod along with what you're saying. To add my meandering thoughts, I think that when I see people that are covered in tattoos and piercings all over their face, ears, nose, bridge of nose, eyebrows, lips, cheeks and all rest body no visible. I get why one would get a tattoo of their army regiment badge, football team's crest, to commemorate their mother's/child's/husband's passing et cetera..
Be, some people look like 1970's wallpaper. There is a lady locally that is covered in small individual tattoos and a face full of piercings. It's a horror show, and when I see her with her infant son, I feel for him because when he passes through the school system, she's given to bullies something to weaponize. I think people that get tattoos to that extent are somewhere on the body dysmorphic spectrum. But ultimately their choice.

When I knock on someone’s door and ring their bell for about five minutes and they don’t answer, even though I know they’re home. And then as I’m leaving they finally come outside and say, “Why didn’t you ring the bell or knock?”

The alcohol component of beer (showed as % of the volume in Uk) is decreasing across numerous brands.
Stella was 5..2% then dropped to 5%, now 4.8%. Hobgoblin is now down to 4.8% from the previous 5% I recall seeing in Sainsbury. Other "premium" beers have done the same.
I'm struggling to get a coherent reason for this change.... I have heard it is a tax saving measures for the brewery, and I have heard that it is part of a government scheme for public health and also for the minimum alcohol pricing legislation the powers that be considered...and I think it's still a possibility.
In the UK declared alcohol content % can vary by 0.5% above or below declared amount... so cans stating 4% can be manufactured to be 3.5% benefiting the brewery.
But what f*** buy more cans right. What is actually super annoying is that Special Brew and Tennants Super are both down to 7.5% from the halcyon days of 9%. Potentially it could be 7% given the 0..5% up down thing.
Brew and T Super are a right of passage for many a teenager and the nourishment for many a drunk sitting in a park and those I between who are skilled at working the Brew and Super. Rant over.

i am not a fan of tattoos either i don't find it attractive at all on someone. for certain things i get why they get them my mom has a tiny violet one on her neck and that's done for my niece who's name is Violet. and if you get your mom's name or a wife/hubby who passed away or murdered there are exceptions why i get people do get them. but when i see someone cover their entire body with them my question is uh why? there's an actor who is a really talented gut Robert sardo? i think his name is i need to look it up to be 100% right he a lot of the time plays a heavy. however he's got over 80% maybe higher? of his body tattooed though his face isn't. my question is why would anyone want to that ? they look good when you are young but if you are 95 years old they look like sh*t they fade and you have to have them if you really care anyways to having them inked in.
sorry that's one thing that does bother me, this would drive me and my brother nuts growing up when the phone rings and than you go who is it? and than they ask you who they are talking to? so me and my brother would give random names i even said i was pope john paul the 2nd more than once. if you don't know who in the hell you are talking to... if you call someone and say is so and so there if it's a land line for example. that's not an issue but growing up though my folks have had a cell phone since (1991) i'm talking about the land line we had.

That was certainly the case for me and my teenage peers. I've not bought Special Brew since my late teens. Skol Super was another 9% beer that my peer group and I drank. They were cheep and strong and a 3 cans did job.
I believe that spirits like vodka, whiskey, gin and many other have a defined minimum alcohol content to make the requirement to be recognised as vodka and so on. I've never seen anything like that applied for beer and real ales or wine and alcopops.
I've noticed that the alcohol content of beers have declined to but ignorant as to why the change.

As much as I love a good chicken sandwich, there is one thing that I hate....
About five minutes later, I sense a tiny bit of that delicious chicken trapped between my teeth or some other place in my mouth. Without thinking, I bite down on that tiny bit, thinking I'll have a bit of that chicken to taste....only to discover it was, in fact, a not-so-tiny piece of pepper. AAAAAAGGGHHH!!

i don't think i've ever even tried it to be honest but for me it doesn't sound good but to each their own i guess

This isn't exactly random, but when my students(not all of them), are caught cheating, I give them zeros, and the parents come out of the woodwork to tell me how mean and unfair I am. They will do this even after I show them all the proof. One parent told me her daughter wasn't cheating, she was "cooperatively working" with her friend. If the students are seniors, I'll be told I am "ruining " the student's life because I am jeopardizing their acceptance into the college of their choice.
I will most likely get emails from at least one parent "demanding a meeting." This is basically code for, "I want to inconvenience and hector the teacher and administrators until they are so worn out they give in to my demands." As Angela Channing of FC would often say, "That will never happen!"
