My Top Ten Five:

1- Edward Scissorhands (1990)
2- Before Night Falls (2000)
3- Finding Neverland (2004)
4- Ed Wood (1994)
5- Chocolat (2000)

I´ve seen a lot more movies with Mr. Depp but in all of them he was playing the same flamboyant, wacky character, which became tiresome after the first two movies. So I can´t think of any more performances where he really was impressive acting-wise. Unless looking high as a kite may be considered that, of course...

I guess it's because it came out last year. Maybe most people haven't had the time to see it yet since it's so new. ;)

Thanks @Ome
Interesting list and well since you've been away and your votes doesn't alter the winning movie I have amended the results to count your votes, albeit a day late. ;)

@Toni we do seem to share a lot of the same tastes when it comes to movies. So I am glad that you are enjoying this round. :)

After a very tight race we have a winner. Your favorite Vincente Minnelli movie is:

father-of-the-bride-spencer-tracy-everett.jpg FatheroftheBride1950.jpg
Father of The Bride (1950)

In this American comedy Spencer Tracy portrays Stanley T Banks who's daughter Kay's announcement that she is getting married is causing him a lot of headache. He is not ready to accept that his little girl is all grown up and as they plan the wedding and get to know their future in-laws a lot of funny situations occur. The other stars of the movie are: Joan Bennett, Elizabeth Taylor, Don Taylor and Billie Burke. The movie is directed by Vincente Minnelli. Since Elizabeth Taylor got married for the first time the same year as the movie came out they milked the free publicity of that event for all that it was worth.

You gave it a total of: 20 points.

Here's a trailer for the winning movie:

The runner up was:

Sandpiper Poster.jpg
The Sandpiper (1965)
Laura Reynolds lives alone with her son in the Big Sur. She is a strong minded feminist who refused to marry the child's father even though it was expected of her. So she's a single mother who is a bohemian artist. Some people doesn't like the way she raises her son though and make sure the boy is taken away from her and sent to a Christian boarding school in San Simeon. The school master is a married priest who becomes fascinated by Laura. The movie is directed by Vincente Minnelli. Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton stars in this movie.

You gave it a total of 19 points.

So here's a trailer for that movie as well:

Then here's the rest of the list:

The Bad and the Beautiful (1952) 18 p.
Father's Little Dividend (1951) 16 p.
Lust for Life (1956) 16 p.
Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) 12 p.

An American in Paris (1951) 10 p.
The Long, Long Trailer (1953) 9 p.
On A Clear Day (1970) 8 p.
Designing Woman (1957) 6 p.
Some Came Running (1958) 4 p.
Two Weeks in Another Town (1962) 3 p.
Madame Bovary (1949) 2 p.

Thank you to everyone for taking part in this round. :)

Minnelli's one of the most underrated directors from the classical era. Not only did he direct some of the greatest ever musicals (Meet me in St.Louis, An American in Paris, The Band Wagon, Gigi etc) but he was also brilliant at making visually stunning, juicy melodramas (The Bad and the Beautiful, Tea and Sympathy, Some Came Running, Home From the Hill, The Sandpiper etc), very funny comedies like Father of the Bride, The Designing Woman and my favorite The Long Long Trailer, interesting biographies like Lust For Life and literal adaptations like Madame Bovary with its amazing ball scene. He was at MGM for 2 decades and in a way symbolizes the golden age of this powerhouse studio, all of its opulence and high production values.
