5. RV (2006)

Okay so for our next round it's time for another decade:

The 1950’s

This decade saw the rise of the cold war between the USA and Soviet, which was manifested in capitalism vs. communism. The two super powers got involved in foreign affairs such as the Korea War and the Vietnam War. They also began the space race. Nations in Africa and Asia got their independence as decolonization began. The European Common Market was also formed in 1957, which in time grew into the European Union.

Some prominent world leader during this decade was: Juan Perón, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Nikita Khrushchev, Gamal Abdel Nasser, Mao Zedong, Francisco Franco, Kim II-sung, Harry S. Truman, Joseph Stalin, Charles de Gaulle and Winston Churchill.

Television grew as a medium and started to become more popular than the cinema. TV shows such as I Love Lucy (1951-1957), The Ed Sullivan Show, Father Knows Best (1954-1960), The Milton Berle Show and What’s My Line drew millions of viewers. Some popular artists of the decade include: Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Chuck Berry, Eddie Fisher, Bing Crosby and Johnny Cash. The European cinema was very successful during this decade but Hollywood and the studio system was still going strong too with many famous stars. But which movie produced in this decade is your favorite?

Totals on: Saturday.

Love Miss Piggy as Cleo @Toni. :lolo:

Thanks to everyone who's taken part so far. I'll have to think some more about which ten movies to list as the 1950s were a brilliant decade film wise. So many great films to choose from...
