I think so, but he was an interesting character not just eye candy.
I don't know if I can be objective about him. In some interview they mentioned how one of the reasons Miles did not come to DYNASTY may have been because he and Adam were similar. And I was like "what?" I did not see Miles as a villain type like I saw Adam, though they both had raped someone.

What is this? Is it from a movie?

Yes, it's called 'Empire Records' [1995] and a young Liv Tyler and Renee Zellweger are in it, too. A flop at the box office turned cult phenomenon. Max plays a washed out and fading 1980s pop heartthrob who tries hard to stay relevant in the 90s.

There's apparently a whole "April 8th is Rex Manning Day" (the day Max's character appears at the Empire Records store in the movie) Internet meme sensation around it that I've totally missed. Even TIME Magazine has written about it:

Flipping through some older threads today and I stumbled upon this one. I noticed a few comments saying "he can't act" in reference to Maxwell Caulfield's acting chops. In fairness, I'm not the best to judge him as an actor because I've only seen him in GREASE 2 and THE COLBYS.

As a rule, I don't really like GREASE 2 because it's merely a reversing of the first movie, and it's just not as iconic. I really don't think anyone was screaming for a sequel to the original, but the studios were money-hungry (as per usual), and they decided to make another movie. I won't say that GREASE 2 is a all-around bad film, but it just doesn't need to exist. It's so unnecessary.

I'd admit that Maxwell and Michelle Pfeiffer were "pretty" together.

On the flipside, I think Maxwell was pretty good as Miles on THE COLBYS, which is arguably his best-remembered performance. Of course, he was never going to win an Emmy or anything, but he seemed to not only "fit" but also "get" Miles. He understood who Miles was and how he operated in the world. Miles liked fast cars, good-looking women, and riding polo horses. Maxwell was good to fit the bill of James Dean-type TV knockoff and I enjoyed I've seen of his work on THE COLBYS thus far (which isn't too much).

I've often wished that Miles would've made a full-time return to DYNASTY after THE COLBYS was cancelled, but I'd guess that the producers had gotten fed up with his antics and just didn't bother.

I wish they had brought him to Dynasty instead of Monica .... Miles and Sammy Jo would have been a great couple. Imagine this time Miles takes away Jeff´s girl ... and what would Alexis say? I´d love to hear all the comments she has to say about her to Sable ...
