Freedom looks literally 'on top of the world'. What a fantastic view from this nest...

Great shot!

I noticed an egg turning too.

A wet day on the nest.

6b58f4a96865accdfc5280c5024f99a7

I'm always struck by how serene the Eagles look as they sit on the eggs, complete contentment.

I wonder that they are thinking about.
Meanwhile over in the other nest. (Guy and Lipstick)

A brave Starling dared to encroach on the nest, but after being given the 'death stare' by Guy it soon flew off ..

guy-out-staring-the-starling-gif.gif
Brave indeed! The Starlings are too fast to be in any danger and Eagles don't eat small birds so all is safe for our cleaners.

Ooo yes! The first season Michelle and I watched we called Liberty and Freedoms two eagles SOAP and CHAT (our old forum name) ... at that time we were just watching the one nest.
The following year (from what I remember) sadly Liberty and Freedom didn't have any eggs, but we had also started watching Lipstick and Guy who had two eaglets which we named PEACHES and HERB.
Last year we named Liberty and Freedoms eaglet FLUFF ... the name just came naturally as he was like a little ball of fluff for a few weeks. Meanwhile Lipstick and Guy had three eagles which we named CURLY, LARRY and MO.

So I wonder what we will call this years eaglets? all suggestions will be more than welcome :D

BTW, Liberty and Freedom were already named by the time we start watching. On the web cam community they don't name Guy and Lipstick, we did as well as all of the eaglets. We named the female Lipstick as she had some red on her beak whenever we saw a close-up. Guy is just a guy I assume. Both were named by our dear @Long Lashes.

I do like your gif shots of the Eagles 'Lashes!

Just so I know, are there any rules or similar as to what names go through for consideration? Last night I conjured up names that next level genius!
Oh that sounds interesting and I don't think we have any strict rules on here  . I guess if everyone is in agreement and happy with what we call the new eaglets then that's fine.

So Guy doesn't suffer fools. Maybe the other Starlings set this one up as the patsy.
Those Starlings are really getting on Guys nerves, he was dishing out more death stares yesterday ...

All the 2's ,,, how clever! :bravo1: beautiful shot too Michelle, she's just dropping off asleep.

Great shot!

Its so special seeing these egg-rolls. Those big ferocious eagles are especially gentle as they tend them.

Brave indeed! The Starlings are too fast to be in any danger and Eagles don't eat small birds so all is safe for our cleaners.
This is good news indeed for our brave little cleaners :D

I do like your gif shots of the Eagles 'Lashes!
I can't take the credit for these, I've .. erm ... borrowed them off someone else :hide: . I'd really love to learn how to make my own.

I can't stop taking photos of these eagles, they're so beautiful and naturally photogenic.

Here are Guy and Lipstick in profile ...

And here's Freedom taking off and leaving Liberty in the nest ...

... how powerful an eagle looks as it hovers in the air.

A bit of stick-play going on here with Freedom and Libby ...

And here's a few gifs I 'borrowed' ;)

This is a very clever Lipstick taking off backwards ...

The wait will not be much longer for the hatching of eaglets. Maybe a week or two.
The time has gone so fast :D. I can't wait to see those little balls of fluff.

A rolling of the eggs by Liberty.

Liberty and Freedom seem to have a much deeper nest this year, those eggs are well protected.

Meanwhile on the Lipstick/Guy nest. A hawk makes an appearance near the nest.

f2454f6acbdd8341d7631682a929e67e
Oh wow! that looks spectacular and scary all at the same time.

Another visitor to the nest was this little brave starling who wanted to cuddle up to Lipstick the other night, but she was having none of it ...

lipstick-at-night-and-starling-gif.gif

Snow comes to the nest.
The snow has certainly arrived. This was our mothers-to-be this afternoon.....

Liberty.

It's only occurred to me during this season how its always the female eagles who sit on the eggs overnight, I think the males stay close by but are never on the nest at night.

Have any names been put forward for consideration?
I haven't heard of any yet.

How long does it take for the babies to fly? Will Freedom and Liberty have to teach them or is the ability innate?
I don't think the eaglets even realise they have wings for the first couple of weeks or so, they usually have huge yellow/orange feet though, which make me laugh because the feet are out of proportion to their tiny bodies .

As they gain weight and strength they gradually start to become more mobile and start trying out their wings by jumping on the spot whilst flapping. Its fascinating watching them over time as they attempt to fly and from what I've observed its something they do instinctively and naturally without any need for lessons.

No babies yet today.

Here's Guy on egg sitting duties this morning ...

freedom-melting-snow.gif

"woah! what the heck was that?"

The snow seems to be melting which hit him on the back, at least I hope it was the snow :giggle:

And this was Liberty and Freedom a moment ago,. Big strong Freedom arrived with another sick to keep his family safe, I love how he fusses about the nest :D

libby-and-free.png

So I think we're on hatch-watch from now on. Guy and Lipstick are likely to be first to crack (sorry, I couldn't resist..Lol) because they're a day or so ahead of Liberty and Freedom.

There seems to be a hatching on Lipstick/Guy's nest today. :yeah:
Yes!! :hats:

Here is the very first baby of the season ...

Isn't this the cutest little thing you've ever seen?

BUT!

We have more!

Another hatchling for Lipstick and Guy today ....

Two baby Eaglets

TWO-gif.gif

lip-and-two.jpg

So now Lipstick and Guy are just waiting for one more egg to crack :D

Tomorrow, Saturday, should be the first day in the window of time for Liberty and Freedom's eggs.
Nothing has happened yet. Freedom and Liberty are still keeping those two eggs warm. Here is Liberty patiently waiting ....

Libby-with-feather-on-nose.png

Do you think we should tell her about the feather on her nose?

Pleased to see that the hatchlings have arrived.

I'd like to throw into the naming hat, for consideration "Lunar" and "Celeste"

My thinking goes something like.... The Eagle has landed, Armstrong said when they landed on the moon. Lunar is another word for moon.
The moon is a celestial body, so hey.... Celeste.

Those are lovely names! If everyone else is happy then so am I.

We might (if all goes well), need a third name for Lipstick and Guys family as they still have an unhatched egg, hope it hatches soon

Something has finally started happening in Freedom and Liberty's nest

If you look carefully one of the eggs is starting to break...

Liberty-freedom-crack-egg.jpg

I'm so pleased because I still remember the sad year when nothing happened for them.

Hopefully they should have a chick later today :D

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Meanwhile over in Lipstick and Guys nest...

Lunar and Celeste were beating the heck out of each other :yikey:

fighting-babies-gif-lol.gif

It looks extreme, but we had this last year, I guess the eaglets are born with a natural survival instinct so this competing with each other for food makes sense, its just a bit alarming to see.

This was them first thing this morning ..

6a3011ce3c7452e613bb1de5735b1d66

Still bashing each other and they look like a couple of tiny aliens

If egg number 3 hatches then that eaglet will be quite a bit smaller than these two and will need to be tough.

I have to admit I've become concerned with this nest because of their recent history of bad eggs. 2018, no hatching due to cold weather on eggs, 2019, successful with Soap and Chat, 2020, soft, bad eggs, 2021, only one hatched, Fluff.

I so hope egg #2 hatches as well. At least we have one.

They will not be this cute for too long. I do like how the light brightens this little fellow up.

It seems #3 has hatched. Lipstick and Guy have a great success rate. They must be young.

Lunar and Celeste are a violent duo. I hope #3 will be safe.

I tuned in this morning and was watching Liberty sleeping, I was just thinking how beautiful her feathers where and took a screen shot ...

The first time for this nest, to have two eaglets, since 2019. I'm glad we have a set to watch this year.

It's so nice they are only a day apart as well. Hopefully the little one will catch-up to the older one in short order. I do feel bad when only one gets most of the food when mom/dad arrive.

Me too, which is why I'm extra thrilled for these two.

Indeed! I was so hoping for two as well after some of the setbacks this nest has had. Let's hope the hawks and owls stay away.

Lipstick and Guy are great producers. This is the third year that I know they have had three eaglets.

They're quite vicious with each other, but I can't help smiling too, they remind me of The Muppets

I hope the viciousness eases over time. As long as mom/dad keep them well fed they should be okay ... I hope.
