I also rate Donna just below Sarah Jane, which is quite an accomplishment for a (basically) one-season character. And since Tegan is my #3, you can imagine I'm getting pretty excited.

As much as I still hate what they did to Donna, I also think they ought to leave it alone now that it actually happened. Pick up Ten and Donna from some point in their adventures pre-DoctorDonna and have them just sort of walk through the plotline of the current cast like tourists walking through a film shot. Have none of the characters know who they are---like maybe the Current Doctor is not around whenever Ten and/or Donna pops up to make it easier, so the duo only interacts with the companion(s) or the guest actors of that episode.

Edited to add: looks like we'll get to see one more familiar, beloved face...

Would have preferred DT with Martha Jones, maybe during the events of Human Nature, with the Doctor not remembering who he is.
Glad RTD is back. He is needed more than ever.

Tegan is my no.3 too, so I understand your excitement, no.4 for me would probably be Jo Grant.

Lots to look forward too as it's rumoured that the 60th will be 3 specials with DT & CT - with the 3rd featuring the return of another classic companion....word on the street is that Susan is finally returning, but it's all very much rumours rumours rumours.

Where 14 fits in no one is sure but will likely appear at the end of the 60th special(s) ready for series 14.

The general consensus among the rumor-mongers all over the web is that they want the New Doctor's introduction to be independent (or mostly independent) of the Centenary celebrations. I picture them doing something similar to how we got that brief glimpse of Peter Capaldi (his eyebrows) in another story prior to his proper introduction. I can see why; his introduction story should be the only focus of the episode.

As for CT, DT, etc. I'm not desperate for spoilers. I'm willing to sit and wait for the goodness to start. I'll be over here in the corner, sitting on my hands and occasionally giggling for no apparent reason.

Don't need spoilers either. Not sure what to think about some of them.
RTD needs to do something close to a clean sweep, and redirect the focus a la 2005.
I once read that RTD didn't care for multi Doctor stories, referring to it as an actors parade.
Because of that, I may not get my wish and see past Doctors and companions one more time.
Also would like to see Katy Manning, Louise Jamison, Lalla Ward, Nicola Bryant, Alex Kingston, also Eric Roberts Master, John Simms Master.
Bring in David Bradley, Sean Pertwee as the 3rd (0r 3,003 Doctor, ughh), a recast Valeyard,
Liz Sladen's daughter is Sara Jane in the Audio adventures.
Maybe she can play SJS's daughter (and the guessing game of who is the Father!)
Maybe Davies will do that, we'll see.

Yasmin Finney joins Doctor Who as the first trans actor.

She will play Rose who is apparently the daughter of Donna & Shaun. :)

She got married in her last appearance back in 2010, so a daughter could only be 12 at the most, which suggests either some kind of time jump or that the show doesn't reflect the same timeline as us.

honestly i had forgotten she even got married cause i haven't seen that era of the show in so long and on the show it wasn't a major part of the story. but now that i'm thinking about it wasn't she having trouble in the marriage? and get divorced? i can't remember. my guess is that it being doctor who it's from a different time since as you said she'd be 12 and she does not look 12 and that's way to young to have a companion anyways. so my guess the doctor finds her at a different time line than ours

NuWho always played fast and loose with the actual dates when they were depicted as being "in the present". It was more like "slightly into the future", This was convenient because they could film in the streets without having to "future it up" too much, but could have people like Harriet Jones running the country rather than current politicians. So I can give them a pass on Donna having a late-teens daughter.

They could say that Rose is a bit of a mystery to Donna and her husband because she looks 18 but is actually only ten years old. How is this possible? Well, Donna is half Time Lord and her DNA, passed down to Rose, might have her and Rose aging at strange rates. Cue head explosions in the fandom.

In The runaway Bride her fiance Lance turned out to be a villain, but she married someone new, Shaun, in The End Of Time.

In one of the show's most emotional scenes The Doctor turns up at the church and gives Wilf and Silvia (Donna's mum & granddad) an envelope that he borrowed £1 for from Geoff, Silvia's late husband, when Donna opens it, it's a lottery ticket for a triple rollover. I still can't watch that scene without crying like a baby.

So far I know of DT's return. Catherine Tate is OK, the "New" Rose - Rose Tyler in another form?

The Rose from "The Next Doctor"? I am confused

No word on the other past Doctors, River Song, Other past companions

I know Tegan and Ace are supposed to return, but not for the 60th, I understand.

Just a thought - Peter Davison as Omega "Arc of Infinity" Colin Baker as a retired Commander Maxil "Arc of Infinity"
S McCoy as Merlin ( "Remembrance of the Daleks) Paul McGann as 8th Doctor or Valeyard,
and of course, Tom Baker as the Curator.

I was a little disappointed in the 50th. Great to see TB return,
but I never cared for the concept of Hurt as the War Doctor, Rose was misused,
Tennant was not written well enough, The past Doctors were not invited
but Matt Smith was really good.

I trust RTD to bring the show back to quality entertainment.
I just hope that the damage from the past several years can be undone,
because many, many long-time fans have tuned out, and they need
to be shown respect, if they are to return

I wasn't a fan of the 50th either - I burst into tears as soon as I heard Tom's voice, it was the best thing about it for me.

I agree that DT wasn't himself, all that silly nonsense too with Queen Elizabeth 1st and the zygons - it all just felt silly and cheap filler.

Matt was great, but I didn't care for the interaction between him, DT & Hurt, it felt forced and I especially didn't like the "I don't want to go" "He always says that" line.

Hurt was brought in as the War Doctor because Moffat wanted Paul McGann but the BBC vetoed it as the TV movie wasn't a big success and they wanted a bigger name. Such a shame the BBC got involved with that decision.

People watching the filming in Camden last week (London) have confirmed the following spoilers....

DT is using 10's accent but has a different sonic and new clothes so no one yet sure if he's 10, 10B or 14th Doctor.

Rose is Donna & Shaun's daughter.

Wilf was on set (in a wheelchair) & Silvia (Donna's mum was also on set too.

I am reading about rumors about a Doctor Who multiverse.
I suppose it is similar to Marvel and maybe upcoming DC
RTD has expressed such an interest in at least one past interview.

I have mixed feelings. My favorite is still the 1963- 1986 classic series Doctors 1-6, didn't care at all for seasons 24-25-26.

The relaunch under RTD was superb. My only real quibble was that The Doctor Master relationship should have been revealed as brothers, which was the
intention during the Pertwee-Delgado years, from what I read in various interviews. "Planet of the Spiders" would have been the story where
it was revealed, but Delgado died, suddenly, and the Master couldn't be in the Pertwee finale.

The Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi eras were ones that I enjoyed. PC was highly underrated, and let down by
substandard scripts.

I was disappointed in the 50th anniversary show except for Tom Baker's return.

I really enjoyed the TV special "An Adventure in Time and Space", which I thought genuinely represented the joy, the wonder, the fun
of Doctor Who. David Bradley was excellent in recreating William Hartnell's Doctor, and it was a joy
to see him return in Capaldi's finale.

I suppose what I am saying is that there was a time when a Doctor Who multiverse would have been a real thrill.
While I have faith in RTD and his work, I don't know how I feel now, given the changes of the last few years.
It would be a huge understatement to say that I have disliked the CB/JW era.
It is my hope that the new direction succeeds and I can return as a fan.
If not, nothing can ever erase the memories of the show that I once loved, and nothing can
ever change my respect for the cast and crew that cultivated the show with such love and care,
especially William Hartnell, who will always be the First Doctor, no matter how
anyone tries to rewrite it.

Neil Patrick Harris has been cast, apparently as a major villain

The Valeyard? Omega? Celestial Toymaker? The Meddling Monk? The War Chief from War Games? Morbius?

Mavic Chen? Tobias Vaughn? Sutek? An alternative version of the Doctor (The publicity photo looks a bit like Capaldi)

I don't know what to think about NPH as an actor, but I can have confidence in RTD's planning.

Celestial Toymaker i can see him do that but as good as he will be in the role he won't be nearly as good as Michael Gough was he was f... brilliant in the role and i wish they had used him again. in the cut short (1985) cancelled Season they actually were going to bring him back in the role there is a script but it would be really a lot of fun if they did ever use that if it turned out to be a really good one that is

The Season 23 story was to be called "The Nightmare Fair", and would indeed have returned the Toymaker, portrayed so excellently by Michael Gough during the Hartnell era. I always thought Colin Baker was underrated as the Doctor, and from what I read, he was fired because a BBC boss had a personal grudge against him.
