I'm currently watching the episodes where Jock is in South America. I have to correct myself. Ray and Donna was permanent fixtures at Southfork for breakfast and dinner while Jock was in South America. So him saying he never had dinner at Southfork while Jock was alive in laughable. Lol

I think Ray might have made a slipup there. Are we certain he wasn’t in cahoots with Chico Steve the helicopter pilot and possibly Wyatt Haines and even, forbid the thought. Punk Anderson in a plot to take Jock out so that they could have Unified Development and the Takapa proceeds to themselves? In Ray’s mind, Jock was already gone for good when he and Donna were there enjoying Teresa’s fine cooking.

I think Willie Joe Garr and Jeb Ames may have been involved as well if I recall reports of the “Who Killed Jock Ewing?” book correctly.. The fearsome Pat Powers likely masterminded the whole thing.

Season 14 gets a lot of flack, but the last true episode "The Decline and Fall of the Ewing Empire " is a very good episode.

Dusty came back to deliver one of the best lines in all of Dallas when he said, "Give my regards to Sue Ellen. Oh that's right, I forgot. She dump you." With a smirk.

Yeah it was lovely to see Jared Martin return to the role which helped make him a star.

Lovely actor, just look at that big smile. May He Rest In Peace.

I have this scene in mind which I'm not sure exists - at least it's not included in my DVD version in my country.

After the fight at the oil baron's ball and Cliff's acceptance speech we get this iconic scene with Peter, SueEllen and JR in Southfork kitchen.

J.R.: "He bit me!"
Sue Ellen: "Who?"
J.R.: "Cliff Barnes, that rodent!"
Sue Ellen: "How did he bite you?"
J.R.: "With his teeth Sue Ellen, how do you think he's gonna bite me?"
"Where the hell is that first aid kit!"

I have this scene virtually in my mind where Cliff bites JR, then there's the cut to Southfork kitchen.

Does this scene exist or was I dreaming?

Have never seen that scene, just the fight at TOBB then the kitchen scene where Sue Ellen is seeing to Peter Richards' cut lip when JR appears.
We never see Cliff actually bite JR.

yeah, I think the writers and producers left the actual biting to our imagination.

Young Peter may have been mostly sappy and prepubescent, but he took care of business at that Oil Barons Ball brawl!

I think more biting on the show would’ve been a big hit back then. The era was perfect for it. I can definitely see Sue Ellen and J.R. going for each other’s jugular a time or two. The same goes for Pam and J.R. or perhaps maybe anyone and J.R. now that I’m thinking about it. I think in retrospect not showing Cliff gnawing on J.R.’s leg was a huge mistake. Would’ve been gold!

Only slaps and punches were allowed then, plenty of those were seen. Biting was obviously deemed too violent.
Can't quite picture Pam trying to bite a chunk out of JR! Interesting thought though.

She wants everything to go back to normal and when Bobby tells her that he's trying to do that and he may have to step in as president temporarily. She talks about having everyone at dinner, Bobby tells her, having Dinner together isn't going to make things normal, Miss Ellie says, neither is removing JR from the presidency.

My issue is that she said it as if Bobby had an ulterior motive. It seemed that whenever they were in a pickle, always because of JR, they ask for Bobby's help and then hangs him out to dry. Plus, Bobby was the only one adult enough to deal with Jock's death. JR and Ray were totally out of it and Miss Ellie was in denial.

Momma would rather upset Bobby than JR because she could. She was closer to Bobby and Bobby was unlikely to threaten to leave at this time and would probably forgive her more easily.
Bobby was always the one who sorted out problems. As you say Miss Ellie was in denial and probably suspicious of Bobby's intentions and wanting to be practical.
Bobby forgave very easily and I guess people took advantage of that good natured part of him.

Just so unfortunate that Charlie was too young at the time to take the reigns of Ewing Oil. It was her destiny and none of us knew it yet.

Yep. She voted to keep JR as president when JR was stockpiling all of Clayton's oil and Ewing Oil was losing millions everyday. She rounded up all the shareholders as if she was going to vote him out. In the process, she hung Ray and Lucy out to dry as they were the only ones to vote him out. Then she ask Bobby to keep an eye on him.

Sue Ellen was always "really something else" LOL!
How was she meant to know how Clayton felt? She didn't dare want to see it and shatter her vision of him as her one true friend and father figure.
She did ask him once if it was true and he denied it. She was so relieved.

Yes she played JR and Cliff and why not? She wanted Cliff during their first affair and he dumped her after being frightened off by JR. She knew JR was insanely jealous of her with Cliff and revelled in it. All pay back I say.

Dusty treated her badly by unexpectedly bringing a bride back to the Southern Cross and then learning he was able to perform in bed with his bride. It took so long for her to get over her break up with Dusty, it would've been hard to deal with at any time. She was used to being cheated on and Dusty was uncharacteristically smug.

She was always so confused.
