How are we supposed to feel about Taylor Swift?

Well, I, for one, don't hate her. (And her Leo Rising pop-star status is just assumed). But what is the all-consuming predilection her fans in particular have for her? What does Taylor's "image" represent to young(ish) women that's so desirable that has made her a cultural icon above nearly all others?

As her songs, though competent, are none too memorable. (Unless she's written one about you).

I think some of it is the time we live in. Many need something that gives them meaning and belonging to a community. Something they can gather around that isn't too complicated to understand and gives them a break from all viciousness.

We can see this need in other aspects of the world. It's a trend now on social media NOT to post a lot of content from your own life. Rather consuming others' contents. And NOT pressing "like". People seem to want to shield themselves more.

Also, churches are seeing an increase in number of younger visitors.

I think it's all connected, and that it's because of the state the world is in.

It's Taylor Swift right now. But it has been others in the past. And it will be others in the future.

The only thing I feel about her success is indifference.

I don't understand the hype or appeal when it comes to Taylor Swift, but then I feel the same way about other entertainers like Justin Bieber and Beyonce. The fact that they've managed to amass a devoted fanbase must mean they're good at something, but whatever it is just doesn't connect with me.

I don't say that to be a contrarian, as there are also mainstream artists I do enjoy. Taylor just doesn't happen to be one of them.

Is Taylor Swift returning to country music? Her recently released "I Knew It, I Knew You" is more country than pop is is currently burning up the country billboard charts. Add to that her appearance at Alan Jackson's last concert to honor the country legend and I am wondering if we will see a full blown country album in her future.

Side note - she was boo'd at the Jackson concert. I think that's incredibly tasteless and unnecessary by those fans.

For some of them, it was probably just general dislike of her music. Jackson fans are hard core traditional country fans and Taylor is decidedly more pop oriented.

Sadly, for most of them, it was probably political. I mean if it was really about the horrid pop flavored music they would have boo'd Luke Bryan and Thomas Rhett too, but they got massive ovations.
