Hi @bmasters9, thanks for answering my questions, I have a few more for you:
  1. What would be your dream job?
  2. Are there any TV series do you keep going back to and re-watching?
  3. What’s the best thing that has happened to you this year?

1. Great question, but I'm afraid I'll have to take the Fifth on that one-- don't know what kind of job I would most dream of doing; I've imagined myself doing a lot of things, though.

2. Quite a few on that one, generally classics on DVD. Two of my favorites lately:

3. I think the best thing to happen to me this year was at my 39th birthday (I was born Jan. 3, 1981), when I got a cookie cake w/NBC's 1979 11-feathered peacock on it, which I had my niece to special-order for me, IIRC (forgot where she got it from, though).

Hi @bmasters9

* I was wondering how did you hear about or come across Telly Talk (Soap Chat)?

* Do you have a favourite thread?

* How many cats do you have and how old are they?

* Have you ever had any other pets?
Thanks. :)

--Tough one, that one; I do not recall exactly how I came across this great forum. What I will say is that so far, I have enjoyed my time here, and will continue to enjoy it. It is one of my most favorite forums on which to post and have discussions, mainly because of the moderators-- they do a great job at keeping everything running very smoothly here, IMO.

--Yes, indeed, I do-- the "Complete Series on DVD" thread under General TV.

--3 cats, each 2 years old-- their names are Harry, Sally and Wilma.

--At one time, had a sheepdog type of dog (I think that's what he was); his name was Edward. I had him for a while, before he got run over.

@bmasters9 , as being a fan of The Streets of San Fransisco have you watched any other Quinn Martin television shows such as Barnaby Jones or Cannon?

Heard of both of them, and have an all-in-one DVD release of the latter from VEI of Canada (which I showed the front and back covers of under the "Complete Series on DVD" thread in General TV). The latter one (Cannon), I've seen scattered episodes of from the release I have; and the former (Barnaby Jones), I've thought about getting on DVD, but have heard reviews stating that a lot of the episodes are cut and have running times shorter than their original CBS running times from the 70s.

In fact, here is a video of L.A. driving
I find roads like that an absolute nightmare, especially if you need to move from left to right (or vice versa) to get on the right exit.
Every time I see your avatar I think of Al Bundy (it's a tiny picture so it's hard to tell who it really is).
I was going to ask if you have the time to watch all those many complete shows on DVD, but you already mentioned that you don't work.

How do you feel about staircases?

Thanks for answering my first question @bmasters9 :)

Quick follow up question. you mentioned you like travelling so...

1) What's your favorite city to visit?
2) If you've done a roadtrip, where did you travel?

and also another question

3) When did you begin to watch Dallas?

I think they're great for exercise, and I believe that they are indeed safer to go down than elevators (I think there's a reason why it is said to go down the stairs in the event of a fire emergency [because elevators can malfunction]).

You're welcome, @Karin Schill!

The answers to 1 and 2 will be the same-- St. Louis, MO. I took a roadtrip there in 2009 with my sisters and one nephew, and we stopped there on the way up to see my other nephew, who was at that time living in Cedar Rapids, IA. What I most liked about St. Louis is the Gateway Arch; when we first got there, I wanted to do it that first day, but we came in late (no worries, because the next day, I got to see it and enjoy it, and boy, was it ever something that I'll never forget).

Here's what it's like (as of this year; likely a far different experience for visitors this year than when I was there):

(BTW, I also enjoyed Cedar Rapids where my other nephew lived; that was a remarkable experience, and as of right now, is the farthest north and west I've been, IIRC).

3. I had seen some of Dallas on Soapnet, but started really getting into it when I got the first-and-second-season DVD release from Amazon (the original one w/the double-sided discs); I finished it, and subsequently later got the third- and fourth-season releases, and finished them. After that, I got the fifth go, but for some reason, stalled out, and haven't seen any since (don't know the reason).

Bumping this up: this is the only question I can answer truthfully, and that is journalism, when I was in high school. I was part of the school paper (The Rampage was the name, of Hillcrest High School in Simpsonville), and I wrote a few stories; I even helped out in the distribution thereto. I had some back copies of the paper, but I don't know what happened to them.

Thanks for answering my previous questions and I was also wondering ...

* Which is your favourite season, do you prefer hot or cold weather?

*Do you have a huge DVD collection, have you ever counted them all?

*Do you draw or paint?

*What is your favourite celebration of the year, Christmas? Birthday? etc.

Thank you.

A few more questions, if I may.
  1. You seem to be a sports fan, do you participate in any sports yourself?
  2. We previously discussed your favourite football players but do you have any sporting heroes in any other sports?
  3. How have you coped during lockdown/the covid-19 crisis?

--My favorite season is winter; I prefer cold weather.

--Yes, indeed, I do have a huge DVD collection; I have not thought to count how many I have, but I do have a good many.

--When I was younger, I did do things like that; I do not do that anymore (wish I was still doing it, though).

--My favorite celebration of the year is at my birthday (which I will have my 40th come 1/3/21).

1. I never did play in any other sports myself (would have wanted to in high school, though).

2. Quite a few, like Larry Bird of the Boston Celtics, and Earvin "Magic" Johnson of the L.A. Lakers (who were in 3 NBA Finals series when I was a boy).

3. Difficult to say on that one-- probably need to start reminding myself that sooner or later, it'll be over, and just keep hoping.

Intersting how you began watching Dallas in the reruns and with the DVDs. I can recommend you to keep watching. I think all of Dallas is great and season five, six and seven are among the very best seasons when the show was still at it's peak! :gotcha:

That's a great response, and thanks for that-- I'll have to get the ones I had again, though, before I can pick up (I had given my original copies a long time ago to someone else who had more interest in it, being that my interest flagged).

Another questions comes to mind.

Do you have any favorite TV series themes/intros?

Yes, indeed, @Michelle Stevens-- quite a few!

Here are some:

--Trapper John, M.D.

--Hart to Hart

--The Streets of San Francisco

--Barney Miller

--And of course, our favorite O-R CBS Lorimar Dallas:

Bumping this up-- an interest of mine related to journalism is vintage newspapers. I have a semi-large collection of vintage newspapers from way back when, mostly from my youth, mostly which I have gotten through EBay (back in those days, you could get a daily paper for a pittance, and there was more content in your average daily paper then than there is now in today's overpriced rags).

Here are two examples of such things from my collection: one is the Los Angeles Times from 1986 (day after the Challenger explosion [which, come that time in 2021, will mark its 35th anniversary]), and another is the Chicago Sun-Times from near the end of 1987 (I think that was Thanksgiving or the day after), when then-Mayor Harold Washington passed on at 65 of an arterial clot.

Outside of those headlines, the main thing that attracted me thereto was the low cover prices (the L.A. Times on that day had 94 pages in seven "parts" [the L.A. Times term for sections], and ran only 25 cents, and the Chicago Sun-Times on Thursday, Nov. 26, 1987 also only cost a quarter [35 cents outside Chicago], and had much more [152 pages, plus ad supplements]).

If you would like, in another post I will showcase what Sunday papers were like then (I have quite a few of those as well).

Hello @bmasters9! My question: Have you watched any of the other eighties' prime time soaps and if so how do you think they compare to the daddy DALLAS?

I have seen some of the other three prime serials that have followed on from Dallas (Knots Landing, Dynasty, Falcon Crest), and I believe that Dynasty is the best of those three (at one time, I had it on a VCR recording from Soapnet where they did that "Dynasty Marathon" early Sunday mornings, and each week, I would set it to record that week's batch of 5 shows; I think I blew through 5 seasons' worth that way; having seen only bits and pieces of KL and FC, it is difficult to say how they hold up).

It´s great getting to know you @bmasters9!

Miss Piggy and moi would like to know:
1) Have you ever been to Spain or, specifically, my city Barcelona (there are very tall buildings here though you shouldn´t come right now because of the covid!)?
2) I´m watching "I Dream of Jeannie" for the first time. Is there any other classic sitcom you might recommend me?
3) Do you have any favorite sports-themed movie and why?
4) Miss Piggy wants to know which muppet from "Sesame St." or "The Muppet Show" is/was your favorite (beware of the answer!)?

Thanks in advance and have a great weekend!
