It´s great getting to know you @bmasters9!

Miss Piggy and moi would like to know:
1) Have you ever been to Spain or, specifically, my city Barcelona (there are very tall buildings here though you shouldn´t come right now because of the covid!)?
2) I´m watching "I Dream of Jeannie" for the first time. Is there any other classic sitcom you might recommend me?
3) Do you have any favorite sports-themed movie and why?
4) Miss Piggy wants to know which muppet from "Sesame St." or "The Muppet Show" is/was your favorite (beware of the answer!)?

Thanks in advance and have a great weekend!

:h3:

Not a problem, @Toni-- thanks for your interest!

As to what you asked:

1. No, I have not been to Spain, or Barcelona (in fact, all of my travels have been within my home country [the United States]).

2. Yes, there is-- I think you might like The Bob Newhart Show (a 1972-78 CBS comedy that had the titular star as Chicago psychologist Dr. Robert "Bob" Hartley, who specialized in group therapy sessions [the late Suzanne Pleshette was his wife, Emily]; that show also starred the late Bill Daily [who, I believe, was also in Jeannie, IIRC] and the late Marcia Wallace, et al.; I have Shout!'s all-in-one DVD release thereto, and that comedy is one of the finest I've seen).

3. Yes, there is a favorite film of mine to that effect-- it is called Rookie of the Year, and it's from 1993; it starred Thomas Ian Nicholas, Gary Busey, et al.; it had Nicholas as 12-year-old Henry Rowengartner, who (and I don't know if you've seen it or not, so these might be spoilers to you) suffered a freak accident and hurt his right arm when he slipped on a baseball and fell (the accident did a strange thing to his arm, in that it caused some of the muscles to fuse in such a way that his arm could throw a baseball at practically superhuman speed; the Chicago Cubs saw something in that, and signed him up as their newest pitcher in an effort to start winning). I won't say anything more about it, because, as I said, you probably haven't seen the film, and you might like to see how it all plays out.

4. That last one might be a difficult question to answer, because I've only seen Sesame Street sporadically (not at all since I was a child), and have not seen The Muppet Show at all, so I don't know if I could pick a specific Sesame Street character or Muppet (albeit I do appreciate Miss Piggy's interest).

Thanks again for asking, and to you, @Toni, have a good weekend too!

I had said that I would showcase what Sunday papers from my youth were like (in a recent post that I made about vintage daily papers), so here are a couple of examples:

--The Baltimore Sun from Sunday, May 17, 1987 (the 150th anniversary of the debut of that Baltimore paper [it started May 17, 1837]); it had a cover price of $1.25 (Sunday papers cost far more than that today), and had 300-plus pages of everything you could ask for in a paper (news, sports, weather, entertainment, classifieds, real estate, features, the works [also had a TV guide section, local and national Sunday mags, comics, and ads])...

baltimoresun1987.jpg

--The Atlanta Journal and The Atlanta Constitution, combined Sunday edition from Oct. 6, 1991 (then, the two Atlanta papers were published as separate papers daily, and were combined on weekends; nowadays, the two papers are one [The Atlanta Journal-Constitution], and publish that way all week); also, when I was a boy and got my first one (I think it was that year, or maybe one year earlier), you could get it anywhere in my area (Upstate South Carolina), as well as the greater part of Georgia, in addition to metro Atlanta (nowadays, the distribution is limited to the Atlanta area)...

Looks amazing! I had not expected a ride inside the arch! Or any kind of ride, for that matter.

I can tell you now-- you go up there, you'll be in for a treat (hopefully, when this lockdown ends, if it's possible, I would recommend it).

!!
Isn't that a bit heavy for the paper boys?

You bet it is-- of course, that was a special day in the history of that Baltimore paper, so that's probably why it was the way it was (I got this one from EBay for a Christmas and birthday present a few years back, and it came with repeats of some sections, so that's probably why the weight is the way it is).

Sorry I didn't realize it wasn't the regular version.

Not a problem-- a lot of papers published specials then (don't know if they still do today, though).

Thanks for answering my questions this past week, I have a few final ones for you:
  1. What was your favourite TV programmes when you were a child?
  2. What film have you watched the most times?
  3. Where’s the strangest place you’ve ever been?

  1. What was your favourite TV programmes when you were a child?
  2. What film have you watched the most times?
  3. Where’s the strangest place you’ve ever been?
1. Don't know about everything I saw as a child, but besides game shows and sports shows, one of my favorites (which still runs today) is a 90-minute CBS News show called Sunday Morning (which, when I was a child, had a Wilmington, NC native by the name of Charles Kuralt [who would be there until I became a teen in 1994, at which point another Charles, by the name of Osgood, would take the reins; he gave it over in 2016 to Jane Pauley, who is still there now]).

Here's an example from 1984, from WCBS in NYC:

2. I've seen a lot of films a lot of times, but have not kept track of how many times I've seen any film (therefore, difficult to say on that).

3. The strangest place I've ever been was the Coral Castle in Homestead, FL (possibly because extraterrestrials helped to build it, from what I've heard).

Thanks for the questions!

--My most favorite meal is pizza, generally pepperoni (although I do have a few other favorites-- my mother's a fine cook).

--Quite a few things, but one thing I've really liked drinking is hot tea (quite a few varieties-- Irish Breakfast,
English Breakfast, Earl Grey, English Teatime, and several others).

Another great week of questions and answers, here's 2 more from me.

1. What 3 wishes would you ask a genie for?
2. What 3 items would you take to a desert island?

Bumping this up--

Those are two great questions on your part, but I must admit that I haven't familiarized myself that much with the concepts of genies and desert islands, so I'll have to take the Fifth on those, as it is very difficult to come up with anything to ask a genie for or take to a desert island; still, thank you very much for asking about it.

Bumping this up: since this is (IINM [if I'm not mistaken]) my last day in the Spotlight, I would like to thank everyone who wanted to know about me and asked questions thereto (@Toni, @Angela Channing, @Karin Schill, and others [albeit I could not answer every one, and had to take the Fifth on quite a few]), and I'm looking forward very much to participating in the segment of @rlr718 coming up tomorrow (and also to thank the organizer, @Ome, for not only setting this program up, but for the response to my PM that said that I was allowed to share things about myself independent of questions [which, I believe, @rlr718 will do at one point or another in the next week]).

I'm looking forward very much to participating in the segment of @Emelee coming up tomorrow
@Emelee is coming up on October 26th.

Tomorrow is the start of @rlr718 week in the spotlight.

I would like to thank everyone
It's been a blast reading all the questions and your replies. I think it strengthens our community when we share some parts of our lives or views on life. Thank you for taking part.

--Have edited thereto; I thought, since @Emelee was after me in the index thread, that that user's time would come next; nonetheless, still looking forward to participation.

--Not a problem on that, and again, thank you for setting this up.

Ah - I see where the confusion is.

I shuffled all the names and created a week for everyone. I edited it into the first post of the original question thread for those interested in taking part.

You should find it here

I did, and thank you for clearing that up-- I read the wrong post in that thread (I read the names of the scheduled participants [myself included], and now I see how the participants were scheduled [very much a difference between the two]).
