went to Jersey as a schoolgirl with my parents and looked round every corner for Mr Nettles - sad to say I didnt find him!!

Oh, that's a shame. I think I'd be expecting to see that gorgeous Triumph Roadster round any one of those corners.

Ronnie looks frailer in Bergerac. I think it was year before he died :(

Yes, that shows in the images you posted. Still a very dashing 60 year old, though.

I just found out yesterday that the man who I’ve been renting a room off for the past few months while I’ve been working away from home is David Hunter’s real life nephew, which of course also makes him Barbara Hunter’s real life nephew by marriage. He (the nephew, who is also called David, confusingly) spoke at both their funerals. I think as a child he was more impressed by David being in Doctor Who than Crossroads. He said David gave him his Who scripts which, if he’d kept them, would probably be worth quite a bit now. He says David enjoyed making fun of his serious persona, hence his appearances in the Comic Strip films. David the nephew watched Nolly and thought it was great.

Also, Glenda Brownlow and her husband, aka Mr Lister the market inspector’s inspector on Enders, a soap super couple if ever there was one, came to see the play I’ve been doing. I didn’t get to say hello, or ask Glenda her thoughts on the Toy Dolls’ single “Glenda and the Test Tube Baby”, but by all accounts she’s lovely.

What are the chances. It's as though you've arrived at the nexus of your very own Xrds multiverse. And what a wonderful place to be.

Hope you're having fun with the play (the Amy Turtle in me is curious to know what it is, but my inner Bernard Booth is reminding me it's none of my business).

Ha! It's no mystery really. It's called 'It's Her Turn Now', one of those old Ray Cooney farces where people's trousers fall down and they run in and out of cupboards, but given a modern-ish twist by switching the genders of the main protagonists. It's been really fun and finishes at the end of this week!

What a fab concept. I do enjoy a good farce, and always imagine them to take a great deal of rehearsal for timing.

I'm glad it's been fun for you so far. Enjoy the last few performances.

Thats very cool @James from London

Bet he wishes he held onto those scripts, would be worth a lot of £££ now.

And I had just about forgotten that single re Glenda.

Think she now lives in Whistable.

She used to be married to a cameraman on Crossroads.

I came across this very interesting fan made documentary looking at Noele's career and goes into detail about all the theories around her sacking. It's really thorough and interesting, but the sound is a bit low:

EDIT: This has already been uploaded, but is worth a watch for anyone who missed it.

Thanks for highlighting this. The same account did really good videos on Dirty Den and Bet Lynch’s returns but hadn’t posted in a while, so I thought they’d stopped. I’m looking forward to watching this as the other videos were very well researched.

Does anyone who owns the lovely Noel Gordon Collection which episode in 1980 was the change from the old black background credits to the gorgous trendy orange one? It will help me sifting through dozens of DVDs if I can just work out which episode number it is.

Please, someone, help; This is important to me.

Hi @Julia's Gun

I've just peeked back through my posts to see if I could work it out. I can't pin it down to an episode number, but I mentioned that it had happened around April.

Looking at air dates, that narrows it down to 3289-ish to 3300-ish. Good luck.

At last I found it thank you. It's episode 3292 on disc 57. David and Barbara are about to be married.
Where is Meg in these episodes? Nolly must have been having some time off, rehab perhaps.

I enjoyed watching David and Babs wedding. They do have a nice chemistry together, and charming that they were friends in real life - I read that they actually got engaged later on when Ronald was ill and dying from cancer.

It was great to see Rosemary turn up at the church during their wedding episode. She sneaks in and sits at the back with no make up on and wrapped in a head scarf. I was half expecting her to do a Julia, and pull a pistol out of her handbag, but alas this was Crossroads, not Falcon Crest - this show was too classy to do that sort of thing twice....

Wonderful. I'm glad it helped, and even better that it was only a few episodes into the group it had been whittled down to.

It's a great moment, and actually unexpectedly poignant. I really like how my sympathy the writers and actress managed to elicit for this character who not long before had gone so over the top.
