1) Let´s say that Elon Musk organizes a space trip to a newly found idyllic spot in Mars. You are chosen to be the only civil passenger aboard, and you can have one person with you, and also a pet. Who and what would you choose? And, of course, the most important question, would you say yes, or no?

2) Let´s say that someone offers you, again, the choice between cashing a 5.000 euros check, or making a five-second cameo in "AbFab 2", getting drunk with Patsy. Which option would you choose?

3) I´m a list-ophile myself, and at some points of my life, I did lists of anything possible, especially when there was no internet. Here is a list of Soap characters and I dare you to classify them as the "Top Soap...whatever" (each in a different list). Example 1: "Alexis Colby, Top Soap Beech". Example 2: "Jeff Colby, Top Soap Dumbass", and so on (you don´t have to write "Top Soap", only the "category", eg "Alexis Colby, Beech".
Here is my list: Stephanie Forrester, Bobby Ewing, Lindsay Blaisdel, Jock Ewing, Krystle Carrington, and, well, Jessica Tate (because "Soap" was a soap, wasn´t it?)

4) What is your favorite song by Cher? And your fav movie of her (not too many to choose, I´m being good with this one)?

1) That's a tricky question. Should I go for my best friend or the man I fancy in secret? Well, I would probably have some needs that my friend can't take care of, so I will go with the guy. And pet? That´s easy. My dog.
But would I go through with it? No. There's too little to do on Mars. I'd go crazy in a week. I'd have to get pregnant for sure. 3 kids running around and a dog and a man would probably keep me busy enough.

2) I am horrible when I meet celebrities. I can't get a sane word out of my mouth. I've come to realize that you're not supposed to meet your favourite celebrities. It's never as good as you imagine it. So I'd choose the check and continue to admire Patsy from afar.

I love taking center stage, so I am enjoying this.

1) Sad. We proud ourselves being equal, but still no female leader. But then again, as long as S are in charge, I won't complain. It could be much worse, which it will probably get.
2) LOL. I think it's great that profits go to kids in sporting clubs. And I think it can be cozy to play the evening before Christmas. But that's about it. I miss the fun times with Loket and the prizes you could win back in the 90s. Cat food, motor oil and those types of prizes. That was hilarious.
3) Many many many times. I live quite far up.
4) I saw her live last year. She's a true professional with such an amazing voice. I also like that she's got great self-distance and can joke about herself and not be timid. I don't listen much to her though. Not really my type of music. But I understand why she's so huge.
5) I think it's generally good. We can't lock people in their homes for a year or more. We have to learn to co-exist with the virus and live with it for some time. Follow the guidelines! There's been too much breaking them and younger people not giving a da*n. I work in a school, so I see pupils hugging and sitting on each other and acting like they've never heard of the virus. The hallways are always crowded. Covid-19 hasn't hit this town hard, yet.
6) The mystery about her first drew me in - a Swedish icon, known around the world, and still a mystery. Then I saw her in a movie and was captivated.

@Emelee what kind of books do you like to read?

I love to laugh, so any novel that has comedy in it. PG Wodehouse, Tom Sharpe, Jerome K Jerome, Erlend Loe, Bo Balderson, Arto Paasilinna etc. I also love weirdness, with authors like Franz Kafka, Oscar Wilde and Edgar Allan Poe. And also classics by authors like Jane Austen, Arhur Conan Doyle, Agatha Christie, Selma Lagerlöf, Hjalmar Söderberg, Charles Dickens etc. When I listen to audiobooks, I often go for Nordic crime novels. I love books.

2. for many Germans Sweden is a romantic, idyllic place as if it's still stuck in the time of Astrid Lindgren's books or Carl Larsson's paintings. But Swedish TV crime shows that air here in these days depict the country as one of the most miserable places in the world where every village is plagued with serial-killers. The middle of these impressions - from an outsider view - may be Ingmar Bergman's films where depressed people live in beautiful homes with gorgeous landscape views. Which TV series or film represents Sweden in a way that is most recognizable or contemporary to you?
3. Garbo: Queen Christina or Ninotchka?
4. Married... with Children: Steve or Jefferson?
5. Will there ever be a 'Top 10 - All Time TV Favourites' list where any series is eligible?

1) Since we have it, I want to keep it. I like the Swedish royal family which makes it easier to be pro monarchy. They're really good people. Down to earth, caring and humanitarians. They get 2 thumbs up from me.

2) Honestly, I don't see Sweden as any of those 3 alternatives. Not idyllic, not plagued by crime nor depressing. Just normal. If I were to pick a series that represents Sweden in the 2000s, I'd probably pick Solsidan or Sommaren med släkten. Both comedies where the jokes are written to make the audience recognize themselves in the characters and the situations. Nordic noir is meant to be critical of society, so they explore the most vulnerable groups in society. That group don't represent any majority. These movies are quite left-winged written, always trying to find something to shine a light on that needs to be fixed in society. Ingmar Bergman is known for his anxiety and his need to have angst in everything. People have done parodies of him for decades. Less nowadays though since he's dead and isn't making any more movies. If you want to watch a movie that represents Swedish people better, I suggest Sällskapsresan.

3) I am going for Queen Christina here. Mainly because the character is based on the real queen who was very kick-ass way ahead of her time.

4) I think Steve was funnier. Suited up guy, not wanting to lose face. But much more like the Bundys than he wants to admit.

5) Maybe. I am just thinking of how many series will be mentioned and the workload of tallying up the results. But I won't say no. Just not now.

Yes, but not a lot. I've been to Finland, Germany, Greece and Turkey. But that's all.

You've been more places than I've been-- I've stayed in the United States all my life (and worse, haven't even touched the western half of the lower 48, let alone Alaska or Hawaii)!

1. In retrospect, I don't think there was any good way of ending this giant beast of a series and have everyone satisfied. I was disappointed at first, mainly because Jaime went back. That annoyed me the most. The rest major events felt logical. Dany began her road to madness long before season 8. Jon never felt like a king, so I am glad he sacrified his future to save the people of Westeros form yet another lethal tyrant. I am also glad that someone other than Jon or Dany got to defeat the Night King.

2. I hate sappy endings where every character suddenly get everything they ever could wish for. I am allergic to those endings. So series like How I Met Your Mother, Sunset Beach, Modern Family, Friends and The Big Bang Theory etc had lousy endings in my book.
Best endings, I'd say The Sopranos and Seinfeld. Nothing sappy there. One very philosophical (Sopranos) and one where selfish uncaring characters end up in jail and quickly adjust to the new life (Seinfeld). Very unpredictable and no sap.

3. I'd need to feel comfortable and have fun. Drama is only fun to watch on telly, not to live through yourself. A sitcom for sure is my choice, but which one? I think I'd fit best on Seinfeld to be honest.

Hi @Emelee, we've discussed how Sweden has responded to Covid-19 on several occasions on another thread but I have a few questions about how it has impacted on you personally?

1. How has Covid-19 affected your day to day life?
2. What is the most positive thing you will take from living through this pandemic?
3. When things return something more normal, what do you look forward to doing most that you can't do now?

1. To be honest, it hasn't affected me much at all (yet, at least). I never go on public transport anyway, I have a car. I work at a school, and the pupils couldn't care less. Eventually, even us teacher forget about the virus. As far as I know, only 1 of us all have had covid, and it never got serious. I go to the gym, I go to the store. I sit around the coffee table with my co-workers on our breaks like always. The only way that I've been affected so far is that 2 concerts I had tickets for have been postponed to 2021.
2. Well, as I still haven't really been affected by it, there isn't much I will take with me. Ask me again in 6 months.
3. Considering I live normally now, the only thing is concerts being back on.

I found it like I find most things. I Google. I must have googled a TV-series and maybe added the word "forum" or "message board" in the search. I decided to join because you guys were talking about so many series I love.

He is lying right next to me, sleeping, as I write this. I've had him for almost 9 years now, since he was 8 weeks old. He's still my baby. Retriever dogs are young at heart their whole lives. He's my only pet, which is just what he prefers to be.

Hi B!

I loved all the creative subjects. Art, Home & Consumer studies, Music & Crafts.
But Mathemathics remain my arch-enemy.

You absolutely should see all of Sweden. Stockholm is beautiful, but there's so much more. The second biggest city, Gothenburg, is very different from Stockholm in every single way. I'd also recommend Visby, Kiruna, Sunne and Marstrand. If you go to those 5 cities, you've gotten the hang of Sweden as they are very different from each other. We have many beautiful sites, but if you want to get to know Sweden, you'd have to go to very different places.

I only have season 1 of Soap because I can only find the rest with Region 1 coding.

DVD/BR players are manufactured to work in all regions. However the region code is set by default to those regions where they're sold (you have 2). You can google for your player and see whether your player can be set to Region 1 or all regions (0 or 9). You usually do it with your remote control and a code. It is legal!

Most players can be set even easier:

1. Power on.
2. Open tray.
3. Push the info on remote once (with supplied remote). You will see numbers.
4. Press 9 for multi-region. Keep trying until you see the number 9 appears.
5. Power off.
6. Power on.

Actually most players are now region free since the start dates for new films on BR/DVD in international territories are closer to each other than they were 10 or 20 years ago.

Oooo, more questions today! This is fun!

1. Maths but also physics. I loved the teacher we had in both these subjects, but I struggled to understand. I wasn't close to failing the courses, but I was very far from an A-student in them. Still today, I just don't get it. It's Greek to me.

2. Who shot Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme. I'd go back and be a witness because I really want to know. Was it really Stig Engström, the so-called Skandia Man or was it someone else? It'd also be interesting to find out who Jack the Ripper was and how Jesus was really like. But I still choose the Olof Palme murder.

3. As I said previously in this thread, meeting your favourite celebrities is never as good as you imagine it. Possibly because you go into such a fan-mode that you can't function like your normal self. Therefore, I'd choose someone who isn't one of my absolute favourites, but rather someone I wouldn't go mental fan-girl on. How about William Shakespeare? Then I could find out if he really wrote all those plays or if someone just used his name to produce plays more anynomously. Someone like Edward de Vere perhaps.
