People are complaining about his broken promise of no new wars and its effect on prices. What about the promise he did keep - the tariffs? That was always going to raise prices for American consumers, but they voted for him anyway.

Because they were desperate and had been living in an economic shit show for four years. They obviously didn't think it could get worse.

Perhaps if the "opposition party" governed on behalf of the people and didn't start new wars themselves, a demagogue like Trump wouldn't be president.

Four years of "Weekend at Bernie's" rehabilitated Trump's image in the eyes of his voters. The fact that the Dems didn't hold a real primary in 2024, despite knowing for years that Biden was in no shape to continue, was the final nail in the coffin. The voters heard no new wars, lower prices, and more jobs coming from Trump, which was more than you could say for the Dems. The specifics of the tariffs probably weren't even on their mind back then.

What they did know was that vapid, cackling Kamala had been installed by the Dems rather than voted on by the public. That, along with being unable to differentiate herself from Biden, ultimately sank her campaign. Campaigning with and touting the endorsement of neocons was incredibly stupid as well, and even her running mate said as much. Campaign wise, they were running to the right of Trump. The Dems have been chasing the right-wing vote since 2016, and we have paid dearly for it ever since. All they care about is power, but even if they do regain control, it will likely be short lived. We're always ping ponging between Republicans and Democrats because the party in control is always full of corporate whores and war mongers. Voters invariably get tired of it and make the switch, but since both parties are corrupt and compromised, it accomplishes nothing. It's just a never-ending cycle of bullshit.

I won't try to argue that the Dems ran a good campaign, but tariffs were specifically raised. Trump, then as now, ran the line (read "lie") that they are paid by the foreign countries, and people bought it. Kamala called them a sales tax on everything but, like much of her campaign, it failed to break through.

Political lies are easier to fall for when your current situation is dire, and most voters associated Harris with the status quo. Now the Dems are poised to take back control over the next 2 years because Trump made things worse. Unfortunately, they'll probably squander the opportunity if given the chance.

They actually won't have much of an opportunity to squander. Even if the Dems take both the House and the Senate, they won't have a Veto proof majority, so nothing will change except they can probably block some of Trump most egregiously unqualified appointments.

True, but I was thinking more along the lines of if they also win back the White House in 2028.

Of course, Dems fast tracked Trump's judges and approved his outrageous military spending during his first term, so they can still screw up before then.

The establishment is going hard after the progressives like they always do, which is a bad sign. And Zionist stooge John Fetterman is leading the charge.

Today I paid $7 for a pound of bacon. But there's not an affordability problem?
Politicians are incredibly disconnected from reality. They resort to gaslighting because it's not in their interest to go against Israel and corporate America.

The cod I buy at Walmart increased by $6 a few months ago, and gas prices are close to $5 a gallon where I live.

I guess we just can't trust our "lying eyes."

My state suspended the gas tax, bringing gas down to about $3.50 here. Of course, that expires on November 30. My grocery bill has almost doubled since 2023. My electricity is up about 30 percent. My rent will go up at least $35 in January (possibly more). I remember the great crash of 2008, and things were nowhere near this painful. I haven't been out to eat, gone to a movie, or even a local music show in almost 2 years.

And you know what?

It's not going to change no matter which side wins. I wish the American electorate had the intestinal fortitude to do what has to be done - we need to clean house. Both parties have got to go.

Here we are at the fall of the Roman Empire all over again.

And potentially make an impeachment that sticks.

Southfork just got a shout-out on the ABC News coverage of the midterm results tonight, citing Collin County as the site of Southfork Ranch and "the old TV show DALLAS", noting that the county's population is exploding. (Everyone on the election coverage team giggled, and David Muir assured us that everybody in the studio remembered DALLAS).

No one said anything about Carmelo Anthony or Austin Metcalfe.

Trump sounds surprisingly optimistic after this defeat.

Not only is he bragging about having the power of veto, but he also claims to have friends in the Democratic Party. That honestly wouldn't surprise me.

It will be a relief to finally see the end of the Trump era -- I imagine JD Vance's political future is DOA now -- but I'm not optimistic enough to think the Democrats will do more than political theater. Both parties have a remarkable ability to misinterpret an election mandate.

Voters: "It's the economy!" Republicans: "they want another Middle East war and a gold plated ballroom!"
Voters: "It's the economy!" Democrats: "they want weak border enforcement and more males in female sports!"
