Yes, it was a FLOP. An utter despicable BOMB.

AND WE ALL KNOW WHOSE FAULT THAT WAS.

Lol, why did they call her that? She wasn't fat. It was just her boobs.
She took some weight in the first episodes of "The Colbys" because she got a back injury when she shot a scene of "Dynasty" (a scene at the equestian center in "the man") so she could not do any sport for several weeks.
In the second season of "The Colbys", her body is obviously more muscular because she did a lot of sport during the hiatus in order to loose weight.

It doesn't matter much, but I'm watching season 2 for the very first time in y life. I'm at episode 3.
I watched season 1 more than 20 years ago.

I watched again season 1 finale, to remind me the context, before staring season 2. I remembered much nothing of the finale lol
About season 2 : so far, I like it. Sable is everything. Fallon is not Fallon (but I already knew it with season 1)

Sable's painting on the wall is quite fugly. It doesn't even look like her. Like Emma's Fallon painting in Denver (same crappy artist ?). And, season 2 Jeff has not same same french voice (it's not the one he had in Dynasty or The Colbys season 1). Now he even sounds like a jerk.

I know, I know. But after I finish season 2? I will be able to contribute and participate to some topics, like :

"Was Frankie always a whore?"
"Why did Frankie ruined the show"

Very good reasons to watch The Colbys in full. Do continue and I expect a full 50 page essay on Frankie's eternal whoredom after you're finished.

Ok, I searched and found the pilot/movie online

That music sounds SO familiar. I looked it up on IMDB and OF COURSE it was Ken Harrison!
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090908/fullcredits/?ref_=tt_ov_st_sm

So many bits that he used as well on "The Colbys" and later on "Dynasty" in Season 9.
Just look at the part starting at 1:34:35 - exactly that melody was used very often on both our shows. And some more from this entire movie.
On some "MacGyver" episodes those were used as well. I really like those songs and wish he would have released a CD, i would buy it right away!
Only.. what would that CD be called... music from.. countless TV movies and shows? :D

OH MY GOD, i just found this page: http://www.hollywoodnorthmusic.com
Just click on "Demo Page" and listen to the 8 Minute long "Action/Adventure-Theme"!!
There you have it all... the spaceship ... Jeff and Jason in the helicopter .. Sable snooping around in The Carlton in Denver ... it's all there in that one song!

Believe it or not but I've also watched the French dubbed version. It was on the French-Belgian channel RTBF. We didn't have many foreign tv channels at that time and this was the only way for me to watch it. And since I was such a hardcore Dynasty fanboy I simply HAD to see it, regardless of the French dialogue.

Btw, what took you so long to start with season 2? Weren't you curious?

I watched season 1 when I was still a teenager, and I hated it, so I never cared to watch the second season.

Decades later and in the US, SoapNet had the show Saturday mornings. (Or was it both weekend mornings?) I watched the first season to check whether maybe I had changed my mind after all these years (I hadn't) and did not expect much from the second season, but the show actually got exciting. In retrospect, it was a mistake when they created such a clone early on and could not find their footing, because once they moved away from Jeff and Fallon (whom they never got right, and weren't such a real "Romeo and Juliet" couple even on DYNASTY) and general copycatting of DYNASTY's early stories, , they really improved. I have never had a chance to watch the second season again, as it is not streamed anywhere and I cannot use a Delorean to go back to owning DVDs, but if it appears somewhere I may give it a try.

I think @Carrie Fairchild summed it up the best when he (?) said that the other successful 80s prime time soaps could be summed up in a sentence, while The Colby's already came with so much baggage, partly from being an ill-timed spin-off, but also partly down to the concept being a bit confusing from the start. That's why I'm sort of pondering if "Fallon leaves Dynasty and runs a hotel" might've been a more successful spin-off rather than the convulted amnesia storyline (later including faux-rape and incest fantasies). Essentially, The Colby's didn't really start coming together until they wisely started to focus on The Perils of Sable. For all its faults, that scene between Sable and Jason signing the divorce papers is one hell of a soap opera powerhouse scene.

I believe you. Was Fallon as boring in french as english language version? lol

The Fallon massacre. I mean, I was a huge, huge Fallon fan, especially during the early years of Dynasty. Watching The Colbys' Fallon, season 1, was like seing my favorite being murdered every week. She was so "brain dead"... Fallon was supposed to be "back from the dead", and yet, I could barely feel a pulse... So this is the main reason why I was not excited at all to watch that crime show for 25 additional episodes.

Now that I'm watching season 2, I hate this Fallon even more. Oh god she's SO annoying. In episode 3, she blames Jeff because she claims he doesn't care about her baby, because maybe it's Miles's. Jeff tries to confort her, saying that it's not true, as he sees the baby as his. Then Fallon immediately blames him for that, trying to guilt him. She tells him, with her angry unhappy eyes : "Don't you think it's like stealing Miles's Baby?"... WHAT A BITCH... And not a good bitch. Not like Fallon was in early Dynasty. The Colbys's Fallon is that kind of bitch who's always angry, unhappy, whining, crying, always feeling miserable and always blaming Jeff for it. Yes, I hate this Fallon. Now I get why The Colbys writers "space shipped" her by the end of the season... I would have too! Anyway, no wonder why Dynasty's season 9 Fallon felt like a miracle to me...

I watched it when I was a teen too at the time, and I didn't like much. I remember a lot of Dynasty early years. I loved it with passion. But I don't remember much of The Colbys season 1, except for the first episodes (I wanted to see what could happen when Fallon gets her memory back. Unfortunately, she might got her memories back, she didn't get the personality attached to them back). So I kept watching it and I was just remembered feeling bored.

Now I'm at season 2/episode 5, and I enjoy it, especially the "Sable Saga" so far.
This character is owning the show. I think we were blessed to have her in Dynasty's finale season.

The only thing I really dislike is that she often runs away from conflicts. Every time things are getting interesting, off she goes. It's like that stupid Dynasty season 4 finale over and over again.
I don't think I would have wanted the UFO on Dynasty, but it made more sense to do it in that season 4 finale. Or at least hint at a bizarre experience to add more oomph to her mysterious headache.
Alternatively, if they'd wanted to kill off the character for real, she could have done a "it's all for you, Damian (Adam)!"
I was a huge, huge Fallon fan, especially during the early years of Dynasty
All the characters were great in those first seasons.
The Colbys's Fallon is that kind of bitch who's always angry, unhappy, whining, crying, always feeling miserable and always blaming Jeff for it.
I see her as different character and I think some of the new aspects work better for the The Colbys story. Original Fallon being raped by Miles? Sorry but I just can't see it (remember how she quasi-drowned Michael in the bathtub).
To me, personally, THE COLBYS looks like a JEFF & MILES show rather than a JEFF & FALLON show. It's not really about her but the conflicts she creates simply by being there, and it was very different in the early seasons of Dynasty when the story focused on Fallon.
You could say that she was The Colbys' answer to Dynasty's Kirby. It doesn't seem like a wonderful idea to create a similar love triangle, but the story was not as black & white as the one on Dynasty, and therefore more entertaining to watch.
Miles had psychopathic traits, like Adam, but also moments of vulnerability, which made this particular love triangle surprisingly dramatic, and that didn't stop when they added Channing to the mix - while Sable is trying to steer things in order to trump her sister (as if the situation wasn't complex enough!)

I can see your point if you watch it as a Jeff & Fallon saga, but let's not forget the Jeff & Original Fallon were never meant to be in the first place. And maybe that's why the reworked Fallon works better in The Colbys universe. It's mostly about the spin-off characters, just like NuDallas was mostly about the NuDallas kids. After all, isn't that the whole point of sequels and spin-offs?

I also love season 2 and
the Cassidy family is my favourite addition to The Colbys saga. Philip Colby didn't do much for me - with Bianca Jagger in the most boring stunt cast appearance ever - and new adversary Lucas was a disappointing substitute for Zach Powers and D.A. John Moretti.

I am at episode 21. Yes, Frankie is a whore. Or a slut. Chose the one you prefer (you know, choosing. Something that Frankie is unable to do)
She refuses to see Philip the very day he returns, and then she opens her legs for him, what, one day later ? (Or the very same night, I didn't pay attention with the timeline)

"I am a whore. And I'm also Karen Cellini's Amanda's real mother. I had a one night stand with Blake too. Then I gave up Amanda, like I did with Jeff.
I told you. I. am. a. whore..."

I was at episode 23. When Jason discovers with horror in his eyes, that Frankie shares a bed with Philip, at the very end of the episode.
Now, the website where I could watch The Colbys is down (really)...

I blame the whore :D Even the website couldn't cope anymore.

Well if you don't find the last 2 episodes, i'll upload them for you. Plus, the quality would probably be much better like that anyway. Just tell me when you want them, it can be done in less than an hour. ;)

edit: I'm already at it and will send you the link in 20 minutes. :D

And you're right, the quality will be better. I was watching VHS rip. You can see its amazing picture quality above (The slut screen cap)

EDIT : yes, the quality is way better. Now I can see what's under Kolya's blue swimsuit (recaps, episode 24)

EDIT 2 : I understand the hate against Frankie lol. I'm 5 mn in the episode. Jason just found her in Philips' arms in her bed (I thought Jason was about to have a stroke. He looked so shocked) and now Frankie throws Philips out telling "don't you think you have done enough?"... Bitch! You really think that Philip is the problem???
