Just catching up on your album purchases from the last few months @Ome . I really want that Cher album (and also Heart of Stone) but haven't been able to find them at a reasonable price. I love that Belinda album. That one and Runaway Horses get played a lot here.

The Iron Maiden album surprises me. I didn't know that was a group you listened to. They have several of their albums at the bookstore where I buy new albums but I don't think I know a single song by them.

Regarding the Michael Jackson, History album--I can't stand albums that come in that clear vinyl/plastic sleeve. I never buy them. There is just something about the aesthetic I don't like. I have a couple that came that way including Madame X and I don't like them. I ended up getting another version of Madame X that came in the cardboard sleeve.

Eleven years since the most previous Disco Discharge release I was very excited to see a new one (they often used the more obscure tracks for their compilations) but unfortunately Box of Sin turned out to be a compilation of songs that have already been released on several CDs that I own.
I had no idea there were any earlier releases, so I've been looking around to see if any that is about. All I can find is CDs so far.

I hadn't heard of this company until Ome mentioned them. For me there is a lot of music I'm not familiar with on those albums. I don't know if it's because they weren't played much in the US or I just wasn't listening to that kind of music at the time. I found a playlist of all the tracks on the box set Ome purchased and I'm curious to give it a listen and see if I like it.

Weeeell well well well well! At long last, the 12" versions of Leif Garrett's "I Was Made For Dancin'" and Viola Wills' "If You Could Read My Mind" on CD (the previous extended 12" versions of IYCRMM on CD are re-recordings, not the original 12" as featured on the HANSA/ARIOLA vinyls).
Surprisingly, I found them on the populist/top-of-the-pops-esque Now That's What I Call (Whatever) CDs, something I would never have known if amazon hadn't sent me the email with suggestions. See, that's why I want to be stalked by sellers who know what I want.

NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL 12" 70S also features the 12" single version of The Three Degrees' "The Runner" which is much better than the long album version I have on a Three Degrees compilation CD.
NOW 12" 80S - 1980 (the one with the Viola Wills song) actually has several song from the late 1970s on it (Donna Summer - On The Radio / The Spinners - Working My Way Back To You / Gibson Brothers - Cuba / Liquid Gold - Dance Yourself Dizzy).
It's not like it would take a huge investigation to find out when these songs were released therefore it puzzles me that compilers keep making these mistakes.
Well never mind, I got the songs that I wanted.

Oh ,and speaking of CUBA, why has it taken me so long to find out that it's the same as Karen Young's HOT SHOT??
Since they're both from 1978 I don't know who copied who and it's also possible that the bizarre similarity is purely coincidental.

Now the bad news. The compilations are packed in the cheapest version of the digipack (without the trays).

Of course that's not how we do things around here, and with some nifty scissor work I managed to put the artwork and relevant CD in a sturdy shiny jewel case.

There, that's better. That's going to feel real fancy in my hands.

I’ve always liked their singles, and was looking for a greatest hits. The one I found was expensive so I went for the one album I was familiar with and this was it. I’ve been enjoying it and toying with the possibility of getting a couple more of theirs.

I just bought Olivia's 45th Anniversary album "Totally Hot" on cd now i;m only waiting for the vinyl elpee.

To bad no extra bonus-tracks or unreleased material, and the red on Olivia's name is new to me but most important, the sound quality is very good. ;)

It's been months since I've updated my albums in this thread, but there have certainly been one or two.

Here's the tail end of 2023....

have they included this smash hit
(it sounds as if it was written for Hazell Dean)
Yes this song is also on the boxset and what i know about this song that Kiki wrote this song herself with some others and was produced by Elton John in 1983 they both have worked together before, so this song should have been on a new album that Kiki Dee but that album never came from the ground.. So i don't thing this song was meant to be written for Hazell Dean. ;)

No it wasn't, but it sounds like a song that Hazell would do (or a song that Nicki French would cover  )
Maybe it will happen anyway, the NRG divas are still active afaik.
That would be great if they did someday, you never know what happends in the future. ;) :D

The Second Act ~ Missy Higgins

A rather sad collection, being largely about the breakup of her marriage. Especially so, since her last full album contained happier music about the start of the relationship.
