Yes. It's infuriating that some people still say Russia's invasion of Ukraine was "an unprovoked attack" when the West's fingerprints are all over it (and we want it to continue.)

Now journalist Lee Fang has revealed that the US government is paying Ukraine propaganda outlets to smear journalists and commentators critical of Ukraine war funding. True to form, they're labeling anybody who deviates from the establishment narrative a conspiracy theorist. In other words, discussing the 2014 US-backed coup in Ukraine, the shelling of ethnic Russians in the Donbas, and the fact that many Dems and Republicans have longed for a proxy war with Russia is enough to get you smeared as a kook.

Interestingly enough, one such video gave a definition of a conspiracy theorist as one who "tends to believe that behind events or situations, there are hidden motives that may not be apparent or obvious to others." I remember when that was simply known as journalism! Sadly, pre-crafted narratives pass for journalism these days. Why think for yourself when you can have a millionaire pundit do the thinking for you? As the saying goes, look at who you're not allowed to criticize if you want to know who rules over you.

For all it's worth (and I hope it's a lot) I heard a psychic say a couple of years ago that Russia would wind up saving us in some way. As dictatorial as Putin is, he's not a stupid man. And he doesn't strike me as someone who wants nuclear war -- if only because he's still on the planet himself. And he likes animals.

60+ years ago, the Joint Chiefs asked JFK to greenlight a nuclear holocaust on the Soviet Union (which clearly wouldn't have benefited anybody, but the generals were convinced -- wrongly, as it turned out -- that while the USSR would suffer a quarter-billion deaths, a retaliatory strike would "only" kill 40 million Americans.... So, we "win").

Disgusted, JFK said "no".

But at that time, we had rational men like Kennedy and Khruschev in power -- and they both paid the ultimate price for it, the trigger-happy hawks destroying both of them.

Today, there seems to be nobody in any authority willing to pay the price for ceasing a nuclear apocalypse.

Except, perhaps ironically, Vladimir Putin. So, it's kind of up to him. No one over here seems interested in navigating this deadly mess sensibly. And Ukraine, obviously, is in the middle and helpless.

Of course Ukraine has a wealth of natural resources and a prized shoreline for tourists and port traffic too. Why do you think Putin wants it so badly? Why do you think Trump is having wet dreams about real estate developments in flattened Ukraine and Gaza?

Of course the West only protects the wealthy. That's hardly the newsflash you're making it. Why do you think the Rwandan genocide happened?

LMAO, the West backed a coup in Ukraine in 2014 that saw the installation of a pro-Western government. Some government officials also warned about NATO duplicity.

The lame "pro Putin apologist" smear is disingenuous and completely lacking in nuance. The West and NATO helped provoke the war so they could profit off of it.

The people of Ukraine are victims of Putin and the West, but some are too blind to realize it. Endless wars are never about "defending" or "liberating" an oppressed population.

The West has done everything in their power to ensure a peace deal will never happen. I know where I stand ethically, which is why I'm not falling for the pro-war propaganda.

I'm the opposite of pro war; I'm for the innocent victims. Regardless of how we got here, the Ukrainian people are being deluged with bombs and missiles daily. Shouldn't we provide them with the means of defense against Putin???

Putin doesn't want a peaceful resolution that doesn't involve Russia gaining the territory it sought originally.

Your question was answered. The US got involved solely to defend hostile western interests. "Defending the Ukrainian people" is just the pretense they used to do it.

You don't provoke a madman and do everything in your power to squash any potential peace deals if your goal is to ensure the safety and sovereignty of a foreign country.

The irony is indefinite war funding is largely to blame for their continued decimation. We'd all be better off if people realized that war is about pillaging and profit, not defense.
