Dallas To Get Remastered In HD

lost-in-time

Do you think there could be a chance of seeing the blu-ray box set released for Christmas??
Personally I don’t think there is. These things are typically announced in advance of the Christmas period so preorders can be made and numbers are known. As it’s already November I think there’s little chance of this being released this year now (although I hope I’m wrong!).

Sadly not. Warner were always going to have the remastered series for purchase on US streamers like Vudu, Apple and Amazon, plus Freevee of course. The Blu Ray was planned for a later date but I have no info on that at the moment. The company has gone through a major restructuring this past eighteen months. Keep your fingers and legs crossed!

It certainly doesn't look as if we'll get a Blu-ray release this year, if ever.

It's maybe just as well that I've two copies of the DVD complete series collection.

So I can bide my time until they release it. That's if they ever do! :(

I'm of the opinion Warner Bros will not release Dallas on Blu-Ray. I don't see it being a viable or a good return on their investment. I think they are happy for streaming companies to license the series and make their money that way.

This of course leaves me in a sticky situation. I'd rather not purchase the box set of Dallas on DVD in case Warner Bros then announces an imminent release of Dallas on Blu-ray. Perhaps I should be content I witnessed the best years of Dallas leading up to and including "Swan Song" as this is where my personal collection of Dallas ends. There is something to be said about that piercing flat-line.

Four Movies? I only know three. Early Years, JR Returns and War Of The Ewings. What's the fourth?

Just be thankful we didn't get a Dallas: The Jenna Wade Years, which showed Jenna and Bobby as teenagers before he met and fell in love with Pam.

I'd find a film like that excruciating! I'm glad it never happened! :)

But "Priscilla" did happen, which is worse...!

that would have been an even blonder version of Jenna #1, though. Are you really trying to say you wouldn’t want to see a young Morgan Fairchild shoving Dottie Maypack into the pool because she asked Bobby to the middle school dance?!?

Yep, that's it with Bluray discs, folks!
They are banished out of most of the tech stores anyway by now, some of the majors (f.e. Sony Europe) don't even release anything on discs anymore, the others will follow pretty soon.
There won't be any set to purchase, home cinema market on disc is dead for good, just as i said already months ago.

You couldn't be more wrong. There is still a thriving online market out there for blu ray and 4k, especially in the US and Germany. That will disappear as the years go on but not just yet.

it's not completely dead yet for those who are young here and aren't old enough to remember this Vinyl which has only had a comeback for some really strange reason these past few years was not sold in stores since the 90's. they NEVER did stop making Vinyl for many many years leaving out the Special Edition ones like they would do for box sets the new Goo Goo Dolls album for example would still be put out on Vinyl but you had to order them so it was not completely dead and this was years before Amazon even existed. i still buy Physical Media i buy the doctor who bluray's as a matter of fact i just bought the complete series of Rescue Rangers on bluray just yesterday it's a guilty pleasure from my child hood. here's something i really found interesting i read a review of that last nite that was posted last year sometime

and the woman who wrote it also has Disney Plus she had posted video taken from Disney Plus and the Bluray set of that and it showed that the picture Quality was far better on the bluray than Disney Plus imagine that? hmm another reason to buy Physical media me thinks i don't think you realize just how many things are still being put out on dvd for the 1st time or 4K the masterpiece that is The Abyss (1989) my favorite Cameron film is hitting 4K in i think March so it's still being sold in stores thank god for that

WBD is not going to invest in printing and promoting Blu Ray discs of Dallas. It is simply not part of their business model. I said this months ago.

A lot of people were hanging on to the idea that during the year of Dallas' 45th anniversary WBD would release a Blu Ray boxset of the remastered HD version. That was always unlikely and we are now at the end of the anniversary year and in the middle of Xmas sales; no boxset has appeared.

WBD is making cuts left, right and centre. It is concentrating on its core brands and on Max. It has publicly stated that it has moved away from Max being the exclusive home of its back catalogue and is licensing individual shows and packages globally to third parties.

Making the decision to produce a boxset would not only be contrary to its business plan but also come with initial costs that are not guaranteed to be recouped. That simply means it won't be done. Unfortunate, yes. But of course more than understandable given WBD's situation, its business priorities, the ever diminishing market for physical media and the overall economic situation.

the thing is this guy needs to be fired ASAP at Warners the only thing i agree on is that the back catalog should not be just the only place to put their 0ld stuff on.

they did NOT need to f.. cancel batgirl at all which will piss me off to no end for the rest of my life because Keaton is my favorite batman and has been since i was a kid.
they easily could have re-shot some things if they had to they do it all the time in hollywood. Warner's has been around over 100 years they aren't going broke anytime soon. they would make a killing if they put Dallas out on bluray i think i just think if you are gonna remaster a tv show or a movie than f.. put on physical media because for one thing things get removed all the time on a streaming service yet anytime i want to watch anything i down i can just go to my shelf that will last longer and i don't have to pay for it more than once so it's cheaper if i want to watch it i mean. i saw an article the other day that i didn't have time to read where it said in it's title how if physical media dies it's going to hurt the people who created the films or music i forget what the title said. hell i googled it and it said that cd's are up as of this year up
3% up from last year and that's not much i know but it's a good start.

Warner just announced this nice girl below will take care of remastering "Falcon Crest" (from now on "Fall Crocanti Test", as she retitled inadvertently). Can´t wait to see the results...

I don’t know why you believe WBD would make a “killing” from Dallas on Blu Ray. There is no evidence of this. None of the previous boxsets made much of a profit, if any.

There is also no “guy” who needs firing. Decisions are made by the board. WB merged with Discovery in a way that put execs from Discovery are overall in charge. Like it or not, Discovery was one of the most profitable media businesses and its way of doing things is being implemented across the newly merged WBD.

All of that aside, WBD is not treating physical media any differently to other media companies.
