They've always portrayed Anders as being protective of and loyal to the Carrington family, as in "slightly uncomfortably overprotective". The way he came down on Celia, letting her know he knew all her secrets (when we now know he didn't*) laid the groundwork for him being the protector of the Carrington dynasty against all who seek to worm their way in. Once Celia became Mrs. C, however, he was willing to do all kinds of derring-do to keep her safe from Iris and her husband, to keep Celia's secrets. As far as he was concerned, she was now a Carrington just as much as the 'blood' Carringtons. So now we're being told that he slept with the First Mrs. Carrington, and that flies in the face of this image of his being the family's greatest champion, since such an act would (and should) destroy the young marriage of the heir to the dynasty. It seems a very out-of-character thing for him to do. But it seems perfectly in-character for Alexis, so I'm withholding judgment on the events until we have the rest of the back-story...and a DNA test would help. It might be yet another of their false starts (and I certainly hope so).
* Mini-rant: When Anders did that deep-dig into Celia's past to discover she was actually Celia Machado and not Cristal Flores, it should have been revealed to him that the "real Cristal" was alive and well and living in Sedona. The background check on "Cristal Flores" revealed Celia's masquerade, and should have also revealed who the real Cristal was. Furthermore, after Celia's assumed name/situation was revealed, you would think Anders would have advised Mrs. Cristal Carrington that her "dead" friend was alive and living in Arizona...and Celia ought to reach out to her to clear up the identity theft problems (in other words, pay the chick off).

I sorta could by end S1. It didn't come out of left field. There were those hints of one time allies: Eg, in E19, when Alexis was discussing Liam with Anders, she said words to the effect of “I know you’ve sworn off helping me…” & in E21, during the interview part of One Day in the Life of Blake and His Family, Alexis and Anders huddled together watching, looking to the world like a pair of co-conspirators though they weren’t planning anything.

So, Steven Carrington turns out to be sort of a Steven Cord.

She's actually very much a character from Revenge. She's basically Helen from Revenge and now there's a shady consortium plotline just like Revenge and we know what effect that plot had on that show.
The baby shower was also more Revenge than Dynasty. Kirby's big reveal reminded me a lot of a similar scene on Revenge where Amanda/Emily switched a DVD that should have been for a party with one that revealed something Shady about Victoria.
I hate new Kirby.... More so than old Kirby. This new version is an obnoxious loud mess. Toscanni was a nice touch though. I just don't love this wordshaker version of Dynasty. It's like someone put Dynasty names and plotlines into a bag shook it all up and regularly pulls out a random selection and turns it into an episode.
